What I absolutely love about this fight is that it doesn't instantly snap in half or anything. There's just so much energy in this bot that it rips itself to shreds midair. It's beautiful :')
Hey Ana, you're not alone, when I first saw that fight, I thought that IT'S ABSOLUTELY INSANITY!!!! I mean I was laughing, but shocked so hard that I almost damn near pissed on myself.
Shows HOW tough Hypershock really is. The hit didn’t destroy the body on the spinner, it just sheared all the studs and bolts holding it to the chassis. Insane!
Insanely enough, Gigabyte's strategy of "get into the middle of the arena and get up to top speed" contributed to their undoing- the bot was spinning so fast when it got launched that the joints couldn't handle the pressure and it just took itself apart.
They had several openings and didn’t take it before they were beheaded, I was disappointed in Gigabyte’s decisions but ooo that hit by hyper shock was impressive
@@dr.chalmers7923 I think the team saw the imbalance in Gigabyte's spin and knew they were in trouble. Good odds that they could have torn themselves apart inflicting a big hit.
that's not what happened .. you even understand physics? reason why it fell apart, is because of the hypershocks' vertical spinner directly ripping the top off. vertical spinner spins upwards and that's what ripped it apart, not its own spinner .... learn basic physics.

Whether or not this is "The greatest hit ever" in the series, I think we should take a moment and consider that this bot, which weighs in the hundreds of lbs, got straight up thrown several feet into the air, looks like possibly over the heads of the competitors, so 5 to 6 feet. That is a terrifying amount of force that went into that hit, even if it was GB's own internal forces that ultimately disassembled it.

Gigabyte is one of my favorite bots...it takes so many big hits and keeps spinning somehow. The result is always an entertaining fight, win or lose. As entertaining as that last hit was...Gigabyte really missed an opportunity to win this match. They should have gone for one of Hypershock's wheels when it was having drive issues. Perhaps. But at that time, Gigabyte was having definite balance issues as well. Notice how it was wobbling back and forth like a badly balanced washing machine on spin.

Luckily this is Battlebots' official channel. The only one that could never get a strike. The show doesn't need Discovery anymore and the network knows this, thereby allowing Battlebots to do what they feel with the content.
After watching this as the end of the first episode for the Golden Bolt tournament last year, not remotely surprised this is the top of the list. Not just for the fight itself, but the build-up to the qualifier through the entire episode. For anyone new to the sport, Will Bales has been a crowd favorite for several years now is spite of Hypershock having serious reliability issues, because his attitude and dedication IMO speaks to why people love Battebots as a competition. Watching him and his team pull-off a slam-dunk like this was for me a major catharsis, and this episode alone was worth the $8 I spent to buy the tournament online.
I feel like the biggest issue with full body spinners like Gigabyte and Captain Shredderator, as opposed to horizontal spinners like Tombstone and Rotator, is that the when facing against vertical spinners like hypershock, and have that chance of being launched in the air, the fast spinning body heavily shakes the mechanics of the bot which could eventually rip itself apart as we see here. Gigabyte wasn’t instantly dismantled when it was hit by Hypershock, you can see how much it’s shaking in the air until it tears itself apart.
Yeah, it seems the vertical spinners are the weak point of the full body spinner. The full body spinner is so powerful they just get so disrupted by getting launched by a vertical spinner.
I think the Gigabyte driver knew something was wrong with his bot and might have had only one or two real hits left in it. so it was good strategy to just wait and see if Hypershock was going to get counted out because of drive issues. Of course when the last hit came it was over, but it might have happened the same way if Gigabyte went on the attack.
I'm not sure, but I think both bots were having control issues right before the end there. And Gigabyte was distinctly unbalanced. I don't think its driver wanted to go on the attack unless he could be sure of an OHKO, just in case Gigabyte quit working on him.
With the full body rotator, when it gets launched in the air, the drive part of it wants to rotate in the opposite direction of the rotator. The balance of the whole bot becomes almost non existent. That last, long flight was a killer. What a hard shot, from the vertical spinner.
I suspect that both bots were having control issues towards the end. Gigabyte was also wobbling like an unbalanced washer on spin cycle. So I can't say I'm surprised that they didn't go in for the attack - Gigabyte probably only had one or two good hits in it, and there was no guarantee that Hypershock would be knocked out in one hit. I mean, it was likely, but you want it to be a sure thing when the championship's on the line.
