This is only like my 5th BattleBots video, but the old dude with Tombstone is my favourite by far already.
The old dude is Ray Billings and Tombstone is a real monster bot.💎hard
For the most part, even if Tombstone loses, the opponents gets a big repair bill ;p

Uppercut did *the thing*
Bite Force's biggest strength is low COG. The thing barely moves even when taking a hit.
I always admired Bite Force for never taking the easy option. As far as I can remember it won all (?) its fights over the years on merit, on aggression, not by hanging back and hoping its opponents would run into trouble.
This championship was a good example of that approach. The semi-final was brutal; it takes one heck of a good machine to Hulk-smash head first into Tombstone and come out the winner.
It's sad that the politics of BattleBots (allegedly, hem hem) meant Paul and the team felt unable to continue, but at least they went out on top. Thanks for the memories, guys.

I heard it was finances that kept them from competing. Prize money didn't make up for operating costs.
But agreed. Biteforce is a fairly simple design, but the details are nailed down, the driving is arguably the best in the box, and the durability is unmatched - for ALL components not just drive or the weapon. I suspect Paul learned early on that half the fights are lost by reliability issues, another bunch are lost because of poor driving (leading to weapons missing or exposing weak points). The rest is damage. So if you can nail down the first two areas, you have 3 full minutes to chip away at your opponent.
@@BenMcghieghost raptor is an awesome design but functionally terrible. 3/4 of its losses were due to reliability. 😅

World championships 4 death roll was a menace, real shame it didnt do so good in the latest season
I firmly believe they could have done much better in S7. Unfortunately, like Beta, they were resistant to the idea of using forks.
@@ZondaFRoadster beta is just the champion of bad choices, especially when they kept using their anti-spinners configuration, even though it had a sucess rate of 0% and beta didnt move an inch every time

I’d love to see that too. Many of the Robot Wars teams have competed (or do compete) at BattleBots. For example the team behind Monsoon competed in RW teams with Tauron, nuts, and concussion robots.
Razer competed in BattleBots but didn’t do very well.
The Killerhurtz team have entered battlebots using Beta which looks similar to Terrorhurtz.....plus Razer was in the comedy central era
@@mikeywest2007 no I mean like the whole Robot Wars team take on the whole BattleBots team?! Not just a few robots from each side enter each different events I literally mean Robot Wars tv series take on BattleBots tv series?!?!?
@@mikeywest2007 yes, Razer was in the old series. I don’t think it had been modified at all to compete in BattleBots.
In the later series the Pritchard brothers and Kane Aston of Behemoth competed, well they took part with Radioactive. I only saw it in one fight. That was with tombstone.
Obviously there was the Cobalt team too. Dave Moulds and Sam smith. Sam Smith also had robots on the Craig Charles era of RW before he teamed up with Dave.
The beta team has various RW wars competitor assisting now too.
Even the Mortis team went there with that monstrosity that I won’t even look up the correct name for.
I know there have been others that I can’t think of right now. Can you think of any more?

It was always fun to see a bot with a bunch of Battlebots winpogs on the side driving around in the Robot Wars arena.

Best part for me was when Andrea Gellatly walked over and gave Paul Ventimiglia a hug at the end of the final match.

I feel a good concept for Battlebots would be some kind of weight class divisions. Introduce a lightweight division and maybe even a micro. Also have an open division with no max weight (open division could also be anything goes).
Also, should have said: This is an awesome video! It's what we all want... all action, all knockouts!
No max weight would be way too dangerous and way too expensive, these 250lbs bots are already on the edge of what the arena can safely contain. Even a modern superheavyweight (340lbs) bot would not be safe to run in the current arena and they probably have to build a underground bunker with CCTV in order to do that safely.
There have been talks to start doing featherweight (30lbs) and lightweight (60lbs) fights in the Battlebots arena though, and there have been some fights between a heavyweight and a team of middleweights: DooM vs Mortician (middleweight tombstone) + CatKong (middleweight 2wd vert from MadCatter team). Also classic battlebots had full competitions for light and middleweights.
@@bami2 Awesome, thanks for filling me in! I was ignorant of like literally everything you mentioned there and had not considered the integrity of the battlebox for an open class. BUT... I surely can't be the only one to think that an underground bunker for giant robots to fight in sounds pretty cool, right?

Battlebots TV show is aired by ABC channel (season 1-2) and Discovery (3-now)
They have some weird licensing issues going on so they become unavailable in a bunch of countries after the copyright bots strike it down.

I don't understand what Teams Blacksmith and Yeti were on, it looks that they didn't even try.
Blacksmith is a brick bot: the weapon doesn't deal much damage so they try running their very armored front and forks into opponents weapon to try and break it. Didn't work lol
Yeti got flipped over and was trying the entire match to flip back (Yeti has a aluminium drum with steel teeth spinning down vs a heavy steel weapon like Deathrolls is a good way to get it destroyed) but was basically out of control the entire match from the gyroscopic precession of the weapon and the hits from Deathroll.
Make a ball with rotating hazards on both the x and y axis. Soft metal with as many teeth as possible
Have the propulsion systems the same as the damaging systems. Games easy.

Watching this, Jackpot really is just a less charismatic Deathroll isn’t it?
Yes and no.
Yeah Jackpot has a big vertical spinner on the front, but the internals are completely different.
Deathroll has an old style brushed DC motor that powers the weapon and brushless hubmotors for the drive (so the motors are inside the wheels), while Jackpot is fully brushless weapon and drive but with chains transmitting the power from the motors to the wheels. Because Deathrolls weapon motor and electronics is so old school it can basically power through getting flipped upside down and let the weapon hit the floor to self right (so it only really needs the selfrighter when the weapon is down which almost never happens), while Jackpot needs the self-righter to work to get out of certain positions.
I'd say Deathroll is the more durable bot in that it can bounce all around the arena while not destroying its weapon or drive system, while Jackpot has to thread a bit more carefully as a good hit to the frame can jam up the wheels more easily and the bot can get stuck in certain places where the self righter is absolutely essential.
i need a new season soon. 2025 is too long

Biteforce no longer being in Battlebots because of politics and greed is a disgrace. And only the fans lose out because of it. Battlebots has a lot to answer for why Biteforce and Paul boycotted the show.

Again Billings with d bag hits. Opponent is obviously crabwalking and done, Billing puts three or more hits one, one after the countdown had started.
First battle, two designs, one designed correctly using common sense, the other no thought or commonsense whatsoever.
