@@jbaby283 Disciplined. I make sure everyday to finish a list of goals. At one point I realised I can do everything I put my mind to and the only medium is time. This was a double edged sword as I felt I had so much responsibility and no matter how much efficient I become I will never be able to finish everything. So i decided spending time with loved ones is more important and rewarding than being a machine. I don’t know, I’m 24 and still figuring things out. The more I learn the more complicated things are.
6 hours ago, I was rereading Atomic Habits. I stopped after finishing chapter 5, where habit stacking and implementation intention were also discussed. I followed the examples in the book and was able to complete the four most important activities for today with less mental friction than yesterday. I hope I can stick to it. Thanks, Ali, for insightful content.
1.Mentally contrasting: fantasize what u want to be. 2. Rise 3. Implementation: imagine obstacles and possible solutions 4. Reduce environmental friction: remove distractions 5. Tracking: continuously track numbers 6. Exercise 7. Effortlessly increasing discipline:make it enjoyable and fun.

Sometimes those two can be connected. Maybe it is that procrastination is worsening your mental health problem, in that case, knowing these tools will be very useful, to get the things you need done (like work, to get a paycheck, to feel secure)

Discipline is a big word which is why a lot of people think it's hard. Discipline is nothing but being mindful, having a balanced routine and being consistent about it. Once you are habitual to certain things, you don't have to worry about being disciplined.

Great video, I kinda needed that today. In my university there is one relatively new course named "self-management" which covers topics like motivation, habits, happiness, nutrition, sports, media consumption etc. It's all science backed and I really love, that this course is offered. It's was very helpful for me and I think it's important in general to expose yourself to this kind of information regularily so you stay sharp.

I couldn’t agree more-success truly starts with a mindset shift. In commercial real estate, especially in multifamily, it’s all about how you see challenges. Early in my career, I had to shift my thinking from seeing obstacles as roadblocks to viewing them as opportunities for growth. Now, when mentoring young agents, I emphasize that the right mindset can turn any setback into a stepping stone. It’s not just about knowing the market-it’s about believing you can master it.

I really like Ali's videos but I often find them a struggle to keep up with. I think, like myself, when enthused about something he talks fast. When I recommend him to others, I joke he speaks at 1.25. Telling this shite joke gave me an idea. I had a play around with RUclips's playback speed settings. I found that setting it 0.90 makes his videos so much easier to listen to. Ali, if you ever read this, it isn't designed as a criticism, I love your stuff and hope you never get bored of putting it out for us!
I found it interesting that in the mental contrasting, you not only "wish" that things were better, but think through what exactly do you want to be at, where you are now, and what are the obstacles. Then you combine it with the "implementation intention" method, to decide what you will do when you encounter the obstacle.

NOT another video about motivation and discipline and hustle. You actually give practical and down to earth advice! 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻 I'm personally a very disciplined woman but I'm no super human. And feeling bad for "not doing more" didn't help. Not sleeping at night for 2 years because of breastfeeding babies, you get so sleep deprived that no amount of discipline and hustle can make up for. Understanding the concept of obstacles helped me reevaluate my expectations and be more realistic !
Set morning and night alarm. Improve morning and night routine Morning goal session with simple checklist out next to bible and coffee cup. Listen to a short motivating speaker or song the is energizing with a 15 min stretch/ mini work out and take it from there with the checklist. At night review checklist see what can be improved and daily win reflection. 😂

Discipline is so kay, and, although hard, can be kept pretty simple ... often it starts, as you say, by focussing on your environment and removing as much temptation as possible and make it as easy as possible to just do the thing.
I was recently thinking that it's one my biggest problems, then surprise notification "how to be effortlessly disciplined". I took notes, I really need to digest this and make it my own. Going to apply the advice right now, no more youtube for the day ahaha.

@@jbaby283 Disciplined. I make sure everyday to finish a list of goals. At one point I realised I can do everything I put my mind to and the only medium is time. This was a double edged sword as I felt I had so much responsibility and no matter how much efficient I become I will never be able to finish everything.
So i decided spending time with loved ones is more important and rewarding than being a machine.
I don’t know, I’m 24 and still figuring things out. The more I learn the more complicated things are.

6 hours ago, I was rereading Atomic Habits. I stopped after finishing chapter 5, where habit stacking and implementation intention were also discussed. I followed the examples in the book and was able to complete the four most important activities for today with less mental friction than yesterday. I hope I can stick to it. Discipline is a big word which is why a lot of people think it's hard. Discipline is nothing but being mindful, having a balanced routine and being consistent about it. Once you are habitual to certain things, you don't have to worry about being disciplined.

In my university there is one relatively new course named "self-management" which covers topics like motivation, habits, happiness, nutrition, sports, media consumption etc. It's all science backed and I really love, that this course is offered. It's was very helpful for me and I think it's important in general to expose yourself to this kind of information regularily so you stay sharp.

When I recommend him to others, I joke he speaks at 1.25. Telling this shite joke gave me an idea. I had a play around with RUclips's playback speed settings. I found that setting it 0.90 makes his videos so much easier to listen to. Ali, if you ever read this, it isn't designed as a criticism, I love your stuff and hope you never get bored of putting it out for us!
I found it interesting that in the mental contrasting, you not only "wish" that things were better, but think through what exactly do you want to be at, where you are now, and what are the obstacles. Then you combine it with the "implementation intention" method, to decide what you will do when you encounter the obstacle.

And feeling bad for "not doing more" didn't help. Not sleeping at night for 2 years because of breastfeeding babies, you get so sleep deprived that no amount of discipline and hustle can make up for.
