- Dowager’s hump (neck hump), or postural kyphosis, is a condition that usually occurs due to slouching. If not treated properly, it can lead to serious consequences such as hyperkyphosis (reversal of normal curve) and vertebral fractures. However, if you notice a small hump at the back of your neck in time, you can get rid of it completely by correcting muscular imbalances and changing some of your daily habits.

Remember it only takes like 21 days to create a new habit. Have a great day everyone! 🙏💗✨️
I really like the wall stretch. Not only did it give my back a great stretch but also my abdominals and even my quadriceps. It's like a true wake up stretch because I'm nice and awake now.😊 Thank you!
❤😂😂😂
I am near the big 60 and was hit by a car driven by a madman 20 some years ago. I was lucky I survived that ordeal, but have struggled with back pain, knee was operated on, and neck and arm pain for years. I also slouch forward, being 6'4'' tends to do that as well. I started doing similar kinds of stretching like this video every time I go to bed, and believe me it makes a huge difference, sure I suffer pain each and every day as my body was damaged badly, but I am sure if I keep stretching my hunch back it will improve even more. The one thing that works well is to lay on the edge of my bed, and let my head and neck hang past the edge of my bed, sure hurts when I started, but it has improved my posture already in a short period of time. I really like that wall stretch! I am going to add that as well! Thank you so much for the video, and respect from Aussieland.
yeh i do exactly the same thing it works, glad im only 5'11, i have tall dutch inlaws theyve all got hard foreheads and damaged door frames LOL.
@@closertothetruth9209 LOL I am Dutch born and raised as well although have been in Aussieland for a long time. Years ago I watched something about the tallest people per capita, and at that time the Dutch were still on top of that list, add to that that many are built like a tank, the last time I was under 100KG was in my late teen age years, add to that I worked out in the gym for years as well and made Arnie look like a small bloke hehe. When I was hit by that car the first doctor that checked me out could not believe I did not break a single bone or the fact I was alive and walked away from it, although damaged badly, some one of a smaller stature would have most likely have been killed, so all them years lifting weights at least saved me, and yeah being a stubborn huge Dutchie helped as well LOL. I did my stretching again last night just before going to sleep, and this video reminded me of how bad my hunch was for years, it took not all that long to get it to a point that it is so much better, it still hurts and I will never be that fit huge bloke again, but I do my best to at least manage my now way less hunch back.
This man has helped so many persons and saved us so much time we would have waisted in waiting rooms alone!!! 😂❤❤❤
Hi doctor
I just love your videos! I enjoy knowing natural alternatives instead of all the pills most mainstream doctors like to push.
Thank you so much and God bless ❤
I have also found the backpod to be brilliant!
Helped with slipping rib and costocondritis. And chiro and exercises daily. Lots of massages.
Thank you for sharing all of this advice!!! Computers and cell phones have certainly done a number on my back. I will be trying these exercises! Have a great day!!!
This looks great! My husband is a dentist and starting to walk bent forward. I'll show him this video! Thank you!
I love your tapping techniques it's so easy and affective thank you so much 😊
I rolled up a towel and put in line with my spine so my ribs pulled down on either side of it to reverse forward shoulder curl. Released pinched nerves over time! When my neck was out of sorts, pulled my pillow down to the shoulders, rolled a towel to support my neck and let my head rest on the mattress behind the pillow.
This is exactly what I needed! Thank you!
Prayers answered, thank you.
Thanks so much doc! You are the best & I look forward to learning the knowledge you share. 🤗
Such a great topic - love your channel - thanks for your work !
Thank you Dr Mandell for all of these great video techniques you're sharing have a bless day ❤
I just came across your videos & want to thank you for providing information that will make our lives better. I'm in my 70s & am in so much pain from bone loss, calcium deposits & other issues but... I am ever the optimist & am eager to try your suggestions.
Thank you Doctor. I enjoy and appreciate your videos very much. ❤❤❤
Thank you doc for this video, I have tried to help my spine with similar exercises but this one I believe will help very much! I have a suggestion for people who have difficulty getting on the floor. As I aged I wanted to continue to do exercises but it got very difficult to get up from the floor. My less expensive version of an exercise table (because they are prohibitively expensive) was 8 cinder blocks and a piece of 4'x4' 3/4" plywood cut to 2' wide by 4' long (I'd have used an 8' piece but the 4' length was easier for me to work with, the lumber yard guys were able to make the cut for me). I used hardware to connect the plywood end to end: 8' long). I have a solid platform that I can get on and off of easily. I put a yoga mat over it and pieces of leftover linoleum under the cinder blocks to protect the floor surface. It's about 17" tall and it's my favorite thing for stretching and exercising.
That’s very helpful and I will try these exercises. Thank you Doc for sharing the excellent video.❤
You are so awesome Dr Mandell.
Beautiful to hear this Doctor GOD BLESS
Thank you. I watched the wall exercise you showed us too. Thank you
Hi Doc Alan I like your teachings they are so helpful , thanks 👍 so much.
Getting a tongue tie release helped my posture even in my 60’s. That muscle affects everything. Also ABC unwinding of meninges by a specially trained chiropractor.
Hi. What is a tongue tie release?
@@reneshacurry8324 it involves special physical therapy for the tongue and mouth pre and post surgery. They cut and allow the muscle under the tongue to lengthen. The tongue is meant to rest on the roof of the mouth. Tongue tie causes mouth breathing, misshapen jaw, crooked teeth and crowding along with other skeletal shifts. It’s now often identified early in infants. Babies who can’t nurse.
@@rolew7882 Oh wow! Thank you for the response and info! Xoxo 🙏🏾💞
Oh my. Just watching you move so beautifully makes my lower back tight. Pain wakes me every night. Pain, laboured breathing all day every day. I’ll try the wall movement. Thank you v much. ❤❤❤
THANK YOU, DR. MANDELL 👍
Well-done and hugely informative, regards
❤you are the best God bless you and your family
I don’t know for sure if it’s helping, but I’ve been trying to improve the scoliosis curve in my back by sleeping mostly on the side it curves toward to make it go back the other way. Since doing that for some time, I don’t believe the strain on the curve is as great so that makes me think it’s working. I suppose I could use your pillow idea on the other side . Maybe I could also try to do some exercises, but modify them to correct my curve. By the way I’m 76 and the curve is not outwardly noticeable, but my X-ray looks terrible to my untrained eye.
joseph cipriano is worth a look , and gonstead chiropractic and houston advanced chiropractic , some surprising results.
Thanks Dr for the amazing information stay blessed sir 🙏🏼

EXCELLENT 🙏🏽💚😇
Thank you for what you do Dr. Mandell. Does hanging upside down on a inversion table help at all?
Hi Dr. Mandell. Can you do a video for best sleeping/transitions for people that had back surgery?
Thanks Doc🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾
Yoga asana I learned as a youth 45 years ago at a TM weekend residence course.
That last position, face down, is how I sleep, with my feet hanging down of the end of the bed. Now that I've seen your video, I'll use an extra pillow under my head to stretch my back during the night and fix the hunch.
Thanks!
Thankq so much for this great video
Good stuff, BUT !!!!! What if you’re not able to get on the floor and NOT, get back UP?!!!!
Thank you so much!!!
Thank you!!
Amazing ❤❤❤
thank you dr.
Thank you ❤
Thanks Doc
Obrigado 😊🇧🇷🤜🤛
All three stretches are really good. The third one I can only do in the basic position. Going any higher makes my low back hurt.
TYVM DR. 🤍✨️🙏🕊🌎👣
Going to do this tonight sleep can either fix you or ruin you depending how you sleep
Thank you
Goos morning. I like a very simply position and I saw it and do it to is I just touch my chin and it reminds my head and neck to straighten. No pressure just position. When I think of it and do it it eonderfully reminds me to relax and feel how good it feels
Thanks
Are those exercises okay with mild thoracic scoliosis?
Oh my! A person could spend 8 hours a day... or more, using all of your suggestions!
What are your thoughts on reformer Pilates for this?

Are these exercises safe to do with a slipped disc?

I've watched a couple of your videos about how it is better to sleep on the floor. What do you suggest for pregnant women who are normally advised to sleep on their left side?

Dear Dr Mandell (or someone else), can you please tell me what sort of pillow you are using to lye down on? Is it square shaped? Please let me know so I can buy one as unfortunately, I don't have this type of pillow. Sorry it's difficult to tell from the video. I wait to hear from you. Please reply me soon 🙏.
Damn near all have bad posture now because of laptops and smartphones
Totally, I’ve noticing lately just how bad ppl’s postures are everywhere I go. It’s such a shame chiro is only partially covered by insurance, if that.
Can it be done on an orthopedic mattress?
Hey 👋🏿 Doc! I was wondering do we really gain more weight when we go to sleep right after eating?
Hi Doc, just wondering about sleep position, I heard from another RUclips dr that the best way is flat on your back, no pillow and legs raised parallel to the ground. Like if a box was supporting/raising ankle and calf's
Very curious about this, too. There seems to be a lot of conflicting information about pillow or no pillow when it comes to sleeping, and I'd love to know which way the Doc leans on this.
Does Dr Mandell ever reply?..
Sir please exercise name

Dr. Mandell, quick question (not related to this video) I am a 58 yr old female 330lbs 5’8 and my doctor just told me I am pre diabetic and need to change my diet asap. I have watched and love a lot of your videos but am a little overwhelmed on where to start. I am sure it isn’t rocket science but …. Can you or anyone help me? Is there a certain video or videos I should watch? There are soooo many thoughts out there about keto or plant based or …. My head is spinning. I am sure just cutting out soda, cutting out fast food, starting to move, and drink more water will make a big difference but I need to make some changes fast before my next appointment in two weeks. Is there anything you or anyone would recommend I focus on for two weeks? Or just continue with what I stated above?
Any help is appreciated.
Thank you.
Sue
