Im 59. I've been very ill and became weak and deconditioned. I'm walking stooped over and my legs are so weak that I can't walk very far. However life goes on and I just started a full-time job working night shift 12 hours at the hospital. I'm starting to do these exercises and others that you recommended. I can only do a few at a time but I'm going to work my way up. Thank you so much for these videos you truly make a difference in the lives of many people including mine.
I am 81 in March . These 5 exercises are the easiest to follow I have seen. Addressing the most common issues for us “seasoned” senior strivers. Thank you HT 🙂 Keep “em” coming!
After a lifetime of heavy physical work when I retired recently I started to take life easy but then noticed my legs and ankles started to weaken and were painful and the longer I was inactive the worse they got then I noticed your videos I started doing the exercises and I immediately started to notice the the pain disappeared I’ve also bought your books ,this has been a game changer for me I can now enjoy a more active lifestyle thanks very much Will .
The best exercise according to neuroscience is dancing.People who did a variety of dancing styles for at least 1 to 2 hrs a day, 4 to 5 times a week actually reverse brain changes that occur due to aging. The combination of exercise, mental stimulation and social engagement make dancing the best exercise. I just witness last Friday in a social dance setting, they announced for ladies to line up and danced with a Guy, celebrating his 94Yrs birthday. A lot of people said WOW 94Yrs old still dancing foxtrot, chacha, rumba swing. Etc.
Love and appreciate your videos. A suggestion: at the end of each video, it would be great if you briefly remind us of what you’ve just taught us. For example: “So, spending a few minutes a day doing , , , , and will help you look younger (etc., etc.)” would be of great benefit to help your viewers remember your content. (It falls under the “Tell them what you’re going to teach them; Teach them; Tell them what you just taught them” rules of effective presentations. Thanks!!!
I just turned 80 and you have identified some of my biggest problems - going to force myself to do these because my laziness may be the biggest problem of all. Thanks a lot.
Thank you!!! Amazingly helpful exercises. I am 58 and my mother is 93 and we are incorporating them into our daily routine. Appreciate your help and expertise!
5 Exercises: 1. Chin Tuck (a few minutes a day, sporadically) 2. Band Pull Aparts (squeeze, hold. A few times a day) 3. Donkey Kicks (couple sets a day before walk) 4. Seated Angels (keep good posture, 4-5 in a row a few times a day) 5. Sit To Stand (3-4 in a row. A few times a day).
My father was only 5'6" tall, but always stood 'ramrod' straight, to increase his height! I'm 77 now, 5'9"tall, but retained a similar posture, all my life, which helped me look younger & avoid back & shoulder pain!
Will. Excellent! I’ve run, biked, lifted weights my entire life. I am 69. I still bench press my weight. I noticed a decline in my posture out of habit. I stretch daily, but not for posture. I used as you spoke and knew immediately the benefits. I am adding to my at home workout. I think they will help me at the gym too. Love that you are concise. Thank you! Seattle guy.
Really appreciate your effort in guiding us to be stronger and healthier with simple exercises. Looking younger would be a wonderful bonus. Thank you, Will.
I make a point of never using my hands to get up and down from my chair and the sofa. We do that so often you are getting a workout through the day. For extra challenge do it super slow.
Thank you for the inspiration. I hope I can still do it at your age. And beyond? Keep going as long as you can. I'm going to need more inspiration later. 👑💖 Thank you again.
Just found your channel, Will. I'm 67 and I'm going in for a hip replacement next month and dreading it even though I'm really fed up of my increasing immobility. But I have just done your exercises on here and already feel more optimistic so thank you.
I am 59 and found out just through awareness of sitting using my hands by watching your video. Didn't even realize it. Now doing some of the exercises you mentioned.
I'm 64 & have noticed lately, to my horror , that I'm walking a bit bent over! When I notice I pull myself upright. I'm so grateful for these exercises & I'm going to start them today so hopefully I break this awful new posture! Thank you so much Will
I have a suggestion i practice. When you sit down... take your time and sit down and up 3 times instead of 1 straight sit. It helps a lot. Thank you for all your advices.
Love your show! I appreciate your suggestions. I find them very doable and I hope with practice they become good habits that are handy and replace bad habits. I am 74 years old. Keep up the good work!
Thank you for your kind words - I'm so pleased you find my videos helpful and practical, that's always my aim! Slow and steady and you'll develop great habits in no time!
Thank you kindly, Will! I look forward to sharing what I learn with my clients. I will certainly keep in touch and spread the word about your wonderful work !
Absolutely, it's always important to know how to practice safe and effective movement especially when we introduce an entirely new tool into the picture!
Oh my! I'm 67 and I am so glad I found you. I started right away with your exercises. I know with time , it won't be so difficult. Yes I also just subscribed.
Your videos help me appreciate just how well I am managing on my own. I just don't have many issues at all (for my age). I've always been active and resourceful 💚
Love these exercises! I had a problem with my neck and doing these practices really helped! Also, getting up and down in the chair after my total knee replacement has been difficult and I was using my arms. Thanks to you I am now able to get out of the chair with ease! These exercises has really helped me! Thank you so much!
That is fantastic to hear thank you for feeding back to me - I'm so pleased you're having a far easier time with getting in and out of your chair! Keep up the great work :)
I've had problems going upstairs and downstairs for about 22 years due to autoimmune version of arthritis. Took 3 years to relearn going up stairs and now so long as I hold the banister i case an ankle or knee goes I have gotten really good going upstairs. Going downstairs always a problem been trying for about 5 years, after watching your recent video I've started going toe first and its made a big difference, thank you.
I'n sorry to hear you've had a great difficulty with the stairs, they can pose a great difficulty for many people - I'm pleased my tips have been able to offer some relief and I hope they continue to help!
I'm 32, but my posture is *awful* and I'm often on the phone or the computer, and even my work revolves around sitting in a hunched position for most of the day (I'm a dental laboratory technician), and the second exercise is so good. Also, placing that towel on the backrest is something I might just do even without the exercise involved from now on.
My knee hurts on doing leg press instead of leg extensions. I avoid leg press ..let me know what else to avoid.. Your videos are v informative! Thx for posting them
Hi Will. I'm 61, I work with younger people, and they have started making comments that I look like I'm going to break. I have subscribed and I have found this and your other videos very helpful. Thank you.
Fortunately, I don't yet need these exercises (gym-goer four or five times a week), but I watch/listen because I enjoy the sound of your voice . . . it's just very calm!
I used the first exercise as a regular practice, throughout the day as a posture correction, to eliminate pain in the shoulder, and almost got rid of tics that followed the pain.
Hi, Will, i've just turned a young 69 I have Osteoarthritis back knees shoulders but I am determined to do my very best to better my posture and your video has inspired me to do just that. My exercise starts today. Thank you so much for posting online.🙏
0:30 Hello Will , nice to meet you. This is Neil from NJ practicing in NYC as a massage therapist. I just started watching your videos and am purchasing your book. Bravo bravo in your endeavors to help people in the over 50 category. For me It is doubly helpful because not only am I 55 but I am still practicing as a massage therapist helping people with their bodies and giving them advice on how to work towards alleviating these postural challenges. I will continue to watch your content and read the book. I know this will help me greatly. I will be glad to pass on your info to my clients. Happy to have found you!! I will stay in touch !
Hi there Neil, great to hear from you! Thank you so much for purchasing my book and for watching my videos, I hope my work can be of real help in your practice - it's excellent to be able to link up and support other healthcare providers around the world. Please do keep in touch and I wish you all the best in your work :)
Hello Will. Thank you for this video. I am on the above 50+ age category other than being a yoga instructor. Your videos are helping me help myself and others with various issues. Looking forward to many more such videos and God bless you!
Mr. Will i am Talat (53) from Pakistan. My English is not good i hope you will not mind it, Highly impressed to see your videos, found them very useful in Daily life. Please keep making on such topics for 50 above individuals one more request can i join gym at this age.
Hooray my book Thriving Beyond Fifty has arrived😊. Are the exercises for staying younger in the book? Unfortunately , my phone "died" when I was watching the RUclips video, then I lost it altogether. However, I realise that most if not all the exercises contribute to a younger and healthier body. Panic over! Thank you WH for all your hard work. Looking forward to your new book
👵I'll have to work on the last one. Having arthritic knees siting and standing is a challenge as both are😢 painful. Have been using my arms to help me up and down for years.
Will: I love your video! You explain every exercise clearly. I was doing the exercises as you were doing it. Thanks Will, I subscribed & I pressed the thumb up button.
Thanks for these -I'm aware my posture has got worse since I stopped doing workouts (dodgy knees) and these really clear exercises are so much gentler while still making my muscles work in a targeted way.
Just recently came across your videos. They are super helpful and so well explained….so I subscribed. I’ll be 65 next month and now incorporating your exercises into my daily routine. Great job and thanks for sharing! 🙏
Thank you for subscribing! I'm so pleased to hear you've found my videos helpful and that you've been able to incorporate the exercises into your routine, keep up the great work 😃
Thank you for getting right to the point and actually demonstrating the proper way to do the exercises. I'm making an appointment with my doctor and make sure it's safe for me to do at home or prescribe Physical Therapy that will guide me through these exercise.
Well done for making an appointment to discuss the work with your doctor, that's incredibly important to make sure all exercises are safe and appropriate for you - I hope it is the start of some great work for you!
Hello Will, thank you for all your exercises (I have your original book). Although I am 84 with psoriatic arthritis I make staying fit and healthy my number one priority. My only ongoing problem is my inability to lift my outstretched legs very high which makes getting in and out of a car difficult. Can you tell me which exercises would be beneficial?
Will. Thanks so much for sharing the information. I ve never seen you before but I am now a subscriber. You make it so simple and able to follow. I am very active at the gym but you made me aware to keep shoulders up as you walk and pushing up on opposite leg when you walk. Thanks again..... You made my day!!!!!!
Will, brilliant! MORE EXERCISES TO DO WHILE DRIVING, please! I commute 2 hours a day by car and it's killing my body. Edit: safely of course. I guess they'd have to be small movements not requiring a lot of concentration.
Thank you for your comment - I will add the topic to my list of future videos, commuting can be incredibly difficult when you're stuck in the same position for extended periods of time, I'm sure lots of people are experiencing the same difficulties!
Thank you so much for these exercises. I've been aware of these posture and movement issues for a while and try to correct them when I notice them (especially standing up straight when walking!), but knowing what to practice for each of the muscle groups is invaluable! So simple, yet so effective. 😊
We often have a rough idea of what to look out for (e.g. correct posture), but it's always helpful to have a clear demonstration of how exactly to achieve this! I'm glad I can offer some help :)
Thank you for showing 3 key movements. You go at a great pace with very thorough steps.Stumbling onto your site has given me a new perspective on the importance of exercises to keep me motivated 😊63 and starting over!
Anyone at any age really has to own some exercise bands.... (to stretch, build muscle, and mobility) even a 10 minute workout with bands can change your life if you do them daily ... enjoyed this video and learned some great tips about the correct form for using the bands for posture.
Thanks for sharing your experience ! I have a few of all these things and some more problems 😢. What do you recommend for creaky tight neck and shoulders ? My neck feels overly stiff on some exercises and prevents me from doing more repetition because of exhaustion (at the back of the neck)
Fabulous support Will. Invaluable! I am very grateful. Professional, gentle, and genuine. You deserve far more than 88% of those watching to subscribe. I've just sent you an email with a suggestion to add 'how to do subscribe steps' for many who would love to support your channel. We need it to keep going!
Well done on all your videos! They pack a lot of great advice in very compact form. Also love the fact that your exercises and stretches don't require a gym or specialized equipment. Thank you!
Excellent exercises. Will try them. I have a question. I have started getting pain in my right shoulder. I don’t know the reason.. could you suggest an exercise to cure that?
Love these exercises, Will. You don't need to be 50 to be able to have to do these. All these seem to be very helpful even if you're just 40. Thank you!

I'm 50+, but people think I'm 30+. Maybe these exercises can bring it back to 20+. 😉✌️
Try harder, maybe you can go back 19 years further😊

Thank you so much for these exercises. I've been aware of these posture and movement issues for a while and try to correct them when I notice them (especially standing up straight when walking!), but knowing what to practice for each of the muscle groups is invaluable! So simple, yet so effective. 😊
We often have a rough idea of what to look out for (e.g. correct posture), but it's always helpful to have a clear demonstration of how exactly to achieve this! I'm glad I can offer some help :)
I do most of these exercises. My posture is good for my age. The sitting exercise is my favorite. ❤
Threading 4 of your session together to create a dailybplaylist for rehab of this 75yo body dealing with onset of srthritis stiffness

@@HT-Physio, another very good tip for looking younger is dim lighting. The dimmer the better. Pitch black will make one appear decades younger. 😁🤣
Anyone at any age really has to own some exercise bands.... (to stretch, build muscle, and mobility) even a 10 minute workout with bands can change your life if you do them daily ... enjoyed this video and learned some great tips about the correct form for using the bands for posture.
In my early fifties and I definitely slouch more than I should more from habit I think. So great video and will try some of these and subbed!
Thanks for sharing your experience ! I have a few of all these things and some more problems 😢. What do you recommend for creaky tight neck and shoulders ? My neck feels overly stiff on some exercises and prevents me from doing more repetition because of exhaustion (at the back of the neck)
Thank you for another group of vital exercises.!
i am 77 thanks have fun and i am part native american
There are a great set and reminder to use our muscles before we can't access them.

Well done on all your videos! They pack a lot of great advice in very compact form. Also love the fact that your exercises and stretches don't require a gym or specialized equipment. Thank you!

Stay active, hit the gym and do resistance training. You'll feel better, look better and, potentially, live longer.
Thank you!
Absolutely - people of all ages can benefit!
Thank you dear, Its really helpful for a man like me who is 70 years old.
I love you for all you help.
You're more than welcome!
Great video. Very helpful. The last one is so important, I wish more people knew that and had the willingness to do it. Thank you!
