Yessir. You keep on creating brother. So many folks miss the deep therapy that is creative sampling like this. You are a blessing; many thanks, you are appreciated.
This is dope! I love sampling from film, especially for foley outdoor elements. The scene from "Ex Machina" when the helicopter leaves the protaganist all alone in the forest caught my ear. The sounds become so loud in a haunting way that really heightens the feeling of complete loneliness and uncertainty. Respect.
Yo your final beat is fire but right where you’re talking about it being disrespectful and getting your frustrations out… that’s shits hard as hell dude - Jekyll and Hyde my man. Thanks for turning me onto the film you got a new fan here baby thank you for posting
This channel goes deeper I appreciate your content 🙏 Also I think actually watching the movie like you say (instead of skipping through a soundtrack) is different. You understand the world the sounds live in and the samples come to you not the other way round
@@eddieleonard6925 I hear that. I have mine paired with my RS7000 and also my mpc2000xL. Great features. Changing my battery soon. That’s going to be a deep dive, but definitely worth it
Aside from the score itself, the scenes from the film add a mood of their own. The first idea actually reminds me a lot of DJ Premier’s work on Come Clean (with the kind of water drop sample). Nice explorations!
Mastering the equipment you have is one of my biggest beliefs. I feel very strongly about that..especially in a world where everyone is telling you that you need more.
@@eddieleonard6925 😂MPC 3000, and what, Akaï S-3000xl that the rack sampler that i see ? You have all that you need. Midi contoler keyboard. Just a mixer, some effects, filters, compressors, things to work the sound signal... A recording machine, numerical or analological. That's all. Akaï S series are so good to collect some synthetisors sounds, and MPC 's, 1k,2k,3k, even 60, so good to sequence. MPC and Akaï S series togethers, you can work till the end of times...
✌️I really enjoyed it. The waters of Jp Enka genre are very deep with a lot of potential and you treated this piece with the respect you always have. What you call the discharge of frustration is pure🔥 in my opinion it is due to the motif of the sample which is supposed to be dark, mysterious and evoke an atmosphere of fear and anticipation of unknown events. Hope your cold is better. Take care and keep cookin 🫡
Thank you for appreciating the process. I need to remember that the samples will tell you how they want to be arranged, and in this case, those particular sounds naturally formed into a loud, in your face aggressive groove. You're right...maybe sometimes it's okay to go that way...
very creative, real dope, glad you were able to replace your 3000, that 3000 is definitely is essential to your sound, i use a eps 16 plus myself, so i definitely appreciate what you bring to the table
I'm still deciding between the eps classic and the 16 plus. I hear the 16plus is buggy, which scares me because they're so old. What would you recommend?
@@eddieleonard6925 the eps classic is 13 bit mono, super grimy soundwise, only thing with the classic is it has no effects, it has several sample rate choices, 6.25khz being the lowest, the lower the sample rate, the more sample time you have but the quality of the sound degrades which gives it that grit, now with the 16 plus is 16 bit, but 16 bit mono, not stereo, the 16 plus has 13 effects whereas the asr 10 has close to 50, fun fact, back in the fall of 1990, the ensoniq eps 16 plus was released, the original plan of the eps 16 plus was to have stereo sampling, HD floppy drive, pretty much what the asr 10 is now, but it would've been way too expensive probably would've been $4,000 retail price, so they had to make it the way it was, the 16 plus was $2,500 retail price when it 1st debuted in 1990, maybe more depending where you lived at, they didnt have the technology to make the eps 16 plus do what the asr 10 do, 2 years later, the asr 10 was born, what people complained about the eps 16 plus, they fixed on the asr 10, the asr 10 offered stereo sampling, hd floppy drive, you can sample while you're playing a beat, etc, but i still prefer the eps 16 plus over the asr 10 anyone that used ensoniq samplers can chime in, also to let you guys know, the ensoniq samplers are that, samplers, full fledged samplers at that, the mpc's, sp 1200's are drum machines that have sampling features, big difference, which is why their sequencers tend to be better, the only mpc that is full fledged is the mpc 4000, but the ensoniq samplers have a dope sequencer, now to answer your original question, the eps' can be a bit buggy, but thats usually due to people having the keyboard's laying on a flat surface such as a table, the eps classic and 16 plus' heat sync arent the best and while with the eps 16 plus they had a intercooler that was sold separately, they're very hard to come by and rare, so with those heat sync, if you lay them on hard surfaces, they'll overheat and would freeze which would be one of the bugs that you mention, getting a keyboard would greatly reduce the machine to freeze, it hasnt happened to me, but another bug is when you press too fast, that can cause it to freeze, but that doesnt happen very often, now which one to get, for you, i would say the eps 16 plus, especially with your sound, it has effects and when it comes to versatility, i feel the eps 16 plus wins more, the asr 10 although great, i feel like its more limited, the asr 10 has stereo sampling and its more advanced than the 1st 2 platforms, i feel like when it comes to synthesis, i feel like the eps 16 plus and the asr 10 reign supreme in that department, hopefully this helps you with your decision
Cool experiment/jam session. I like where it ended up. Female vocal sample, occasional high tension flare, on top of those bass like chords. A good combination like the Aboriginals. I've been toying with the idea of filming my process too. Are you recording with your DSLR?
Thanks bro, glad you like the experiment. It'd be dope if you filmed your work. You can use any DSLR (even an old one, like a canon t3i) and also screen record to document. The editing takes some work but it's rewarding to share process.
@@eddieleonard6925 I have a few ways to screen record, but only my phone to film right now. It's a Google Pixel, an older model but the camera is legit. Syncing audio is always a real challenge. haha...great point. I think each of us has an idea of what we do or what our sound is, and sometimes when we make something that doesn't fit that picture, we dismiss it. But you're right, better to embrace it and just follow the flow...
My unpopular opinion is that the infamous RZA guitar center beat is fire.
