Thank you very much for watching 🤗
Tomislav, what a lovely bowl. I really like the blue interior. It's a very nice contrast to the natural exterior. Very pretty figure. The color contrast of the natural grain works very well too. Nice exterior finish. Thank you for sharing. Have a great day and stay safe.🙂🙂
Thank you sir
I like your design and finishing choices, Tom. I always appreciate watching you address troubles as they show up. Elm doesn't have to be junk wood, but it can be difficult, especially when it gets really dry. I'm glad I'm not the only one who has those friction or heat spots near the end grain or areas with inclusions, occasionally.
I liked Richard's results and he motivated me to mix up new ebonizing solution. I like your results, including the white interior. I usually think of doing anything inside as extra, or not something to bother with if the outside is natural. Then I see yours and how it lightens the entire piece. These contrasting videos are very good at demonstrating so much more when they are viewed together. I should probably go watch the other two. Great job!
Thank you Jay for watching and comment 😀
I really like the pale blue inside and the slight distortion. This will age well.
Thanks Richard 😉
It’s so cool to see how the natural properties of the wood contribute to the final piece in such a beautiful way. I particularly love the grain and the artistic way you have of “allowing” the piece to take shape in a natural way. I also absolutely love the white inside as a contrast to the outside and the shape of the rim being oval adds tremendous beauty as well. It’s really a valuable piece and fine craftsmanship.
Thank you, glad you enjoy it 🤗
That is a Fantastic Hollow Form. Your hollowing work with a traditional bowl gouge and Spindle gouge was very impressive.
Thank you, glad you liked it 🤗
Hope you are enjoying the process of getting used to a new lathe. Great watching the 4 of you do similar projects. Nice Elm figure on that hollow form.
Thank you Valerie🤗 I'm getting used to lathe and really enjoying it😉
Very attractive pot, Tomi. I have not painted the inside of any pieces but will start looking for the right piece to give it a try. Looks like the lathe is working for you.
Thank you Mike, ooh lathe is great for now.... i see 2014 is great as well
Well done tomislav, a beautiful hollow form. I was very impressed that you hollowed without the aid of a hollowing tool. Your skills are amazing.
The finish you ended up with really looked stunning.
Thanks for sharing.
Thank you Greg for kind words 🤗 glad you were enjoy our videos ☺️
Very nice. Beautiful shape as well. You are truly an artist.
Oooo thanks for kind words 🤗
Watching both you and Richard Raffan overcome unexpected difficulties and go on to create lovely pieces was impressive. Both of you are proof that it's a good eye and good hands that really matter.
Glad you enjoy it and get something out of it ☺️ thank you for watching
A cracking piece of Elm. What a gem and complimented by a great design.
Thank you ☺️
Another great project completed. I just love the paint and wood complimenting each other.
Thank you very much 😀
You are always a joy and informative.Terry downunder
Thank you Terry😀
Nice looking vessel. You seem to be comfortable with your new lathe. I had to smile when you needed to stop to take care of your kids. I had those duties when I was young as well. Again nice job on the vessel. the shape and grain pattern complement each other well. Also the milk paint is a fun statement!
Thank you Richard very much.... Now I'm stay home dad so get to spend more time with youngsters🤗🤗
Really, really nice pot, the white works well.
Thanks very much 🤗
Very nice Tomislav! I applaud your "blind" bowl gouge use. Never thought of coloring the inside of an enclosed form but will give it a try. It gave your vessel a great look! Nice character and color in that elm!
Take care, Dave
Thank you Mr Dave for very kind words 🤗
Very cool piece Tomislav. Yours is the fourth of the four for this month that I have watched. It's very interesting seeing how the four of you approached this project and really interesting that both you and Richard chose to turn green wood while Mike and Sam turned dry wood. Seeing the differences of those projects was very instructive. I really like your use of the color on the inside of the piece; you are right, the contrast really enhances the visual appeal of the bowl. Elm is another wood that has some real beauty to it.
Thank you, glad you are enjoying our series and its a fun to make it.... Thank you for the support for what we do o
Great job, I like that Tung oil finish.
Me as well, more and more I use it.... But only this thined version, don't like the pure only Tung oil....
Thank you Brendan for watching
Very nice Tomislav. The new Lathe worked out well.
Indeed.... Quite nice to work with
Really like the contract of internal and external finishes. That is really different. I am excited to try it myself. Thank you for sharing!
Thank you very much 🤗
Very well done. I like the paint on the inside.
Thank you, glad you liked it 🤗
Beautiful Tomislav.
Thank you Jack☺️
Yet another stunning piece of work, mate. I can't help think that I've seen it before though ;)
Its inspired by my mentor work, 🤗 thank You for watching 🤗
très beau...bravo...😊
Real nice pot, happy to see that the Lathe does the job well enough! Keep up the good work and keep the new extractor switch on (I know it was not there for that project...but still, heard some cough there). I really like how Richard and you are letting the piece of wood tell you what can be done out of it, you dance with it depending how it reacts, and it is very inspiring. Cheers dear Tomislav.
Thank you Boris for kind words 🤗
Ohh now as I installed new dust collector its on whenever there is a bit of dust😉
Keep your videos coming Tomislav. Fantastic job. Could you share how thick your skew is? it's hard to ell form close up videos. Mine is 1/4", just wondering if there are thicker ones out there that would improve the stability.
Thank you very much for your generous donation... Really appriciate that ☺️
Both of mine are 6mm, that would be 1/4inch, not sure if there is thicker one or that you need one, you can always concert 8mm thick scraper for that job but In my mind it could be too heavy for fast movement that involves around skew....for standard work I would reccomend 1/4inch by 1inch wide.... or 3/4 inch is also Great size if you will be having only one skew.... Hope that helpes ☺️
Looks awesome!
Thanks 😀
Nice. Thanks for the post.
No problem, thanks for watching 🤗
Such a pity but still a beautiful little bowl Tomislav.
Thank you sir☺️
Very nice.
Thanks for watching 🤗
Thanks it's a beautiful turn
Thanks Joseph ☺️
I like the milk paint detail.
Thank you ☺️
Very nice vessel ❤
Thank you🤗
👍👍👍👍👍
😉
Beautiful shape. A++
Thanks 🤗
Thanks to you, Mr. Raffan, Sam and Mike for this demo. Question for Tomislav, why you make double tenon at the base?
Thank you for support what we do 🤗
I caried away on the lower tenon and made it to small fit in the bigger chuck I have, so I had to make second one☺️
When shaping the small bowls with the spindle gouge, how much pressure are you putting with your left hand? I know you are shielding yourself from flying shavings, but do you pull with your left hand?
Ufff I never think about that to be honest... I try to be neutral with the tool , and yes I do steer with my left hand....but its really cordinate moves that allowes to go from pure roughing cut to sheer cut at the top portion of the bowl.....
Hi Tomislav, Really good looking piece as always. 👍🏻 The link that Sam has on his video to your project is to a video that has been removed
Thank you very much 🤗 I know about the link, I had some issues with the video so I had to re upload video.... So Sam has old link.... Thanks for letting me know ☺️
One question, in the photo/description there seems to be a glass lid or something else? Whatever it is it is really cool.
Not sure, don't see it.... Try add in what timeline you saw it👍 thank you for watching 🤗
@@tomislavtomasicwoodturning I’m sorry I think it just looked like it but it was the shadow that maybe made it look like a lid to me ha ha
Glad to see the lathe and the dust extraction are both working for you. Was there a reason (other than showing how to do it) for not sawing out a smaller blank? It was very instructive, but it also looked like it took far more time than the saw. A very nice enclosed form (or 'pot' `;-) ) Great fun and very instructive to see how each of you four deals with the same basic start. Far more vivid grain than the natural edged bowl to my mind. But you might see if that pops out more with tung oil. This is the milk paint, right? Many thanks for another fine video.
It was odd shape wood, and I did get a lot of questions about how to true up something that is close to log shape....
But you are right, its much faster to cut it on the bandsaw at least close to round....
Thank you Joris for watching 🤗
