    WOW! Nicely done. Even the repair of the lid was accurate and professional. No one would know what you did but you showed it to all!

    I watched Alan Batty make one of there in boxwood years ago. He still has a demo of it on RUclips even now that he's been dead for several years. I was fortunate to take a 5 day class from him about 15 years ago. He taught me much, including hand thread chasing. He was old school production turner. His friend, Bill Jones was a fourth generation ivory/hardwood turner. I watched Bill demonstrate but never got to work with him. Bill also was a very efficient production turner. Bill wrote for woodturning magazines and much was put into two books. Notes from the turning shop and further notes from the turning shop. Both are good books. I love watching you work. Your devotion to turning really shows in your techniques and products!

    That was amazing. The fix at the end made it even more useful to see how you could glue a new piece in for the final lid. Pretty cool.

    Oh, I so wish I had the ability to make this one for my Daughter's wedding ring box, it would be perfect. I will try but I doubt I'll manage before November. Thanks for a great video lesson, as usual.

    Very cool project and really interesting design. Nice recovery; it's always good to see ways to fix issues when they occur. Very difficult to see where the mechanism is after you finished it -- just the way one would want a piece like this to be.

      Its pretty much just a slight taper hole on the ball, and the box fits in it😀.... its really that simple 😅...

      Yes, I adapt scrapers if they don't fit or shape isn't what I need

    People with 3D printers can make their own templates to almost any radius they want. I am going to do that as soon as this video is complete.

      @@tomislavtomasicwoodturning I have a small Jet table planer and s small jointer and I have to feet the word to go in the direction of the grain. Not knowing anything about wood turning, I worry about running against the grain and causing blowouts - is that really a concern or am I just imaging problems that will never exist.
      PS. I lived in NL for four years and worked for SKF up and down Europe. I loved being there and really enjoyed the people.

      @darrylcrum2495 depends on what you do, you can go agains the grain and if it thicker wood it will just leave rough surface, on thin stuff it can blow out.

      Glad you enjoy making those,I love it as well... Both cross grain and endgrain can work as jam chuck... depends on what you have
