    Tomiaslav I love this dish for its simple lines . Oasge as it oxidizes turns from the bright yellow to a deep brown . I have an archery bow that was hand carved from Osage, and when it was being carved was bright yellow like this plate , and I hand rubbed a heavy coating of bear oil , rendered from black bear fat . And after just a few weeks, it turned dark brown

    Oh wow! That little plunge cut below the bead to terminate the fibers is a super technique! Why didn't I think of that??? 😉

      @tomislavtomasicwoodturning I made one today a bit fatter, drilled a hole at the end of the BS cuts and held it with a wooden hand clamp on the BS. My wife loved it. I will be making some more for CHristmas presents. Thanks for sharing.

    Looks great thanks for all your videos. I‘ve done these with branches and a carving knife. A tip I would give you is to drill a hole at the end of the slot a little bit bigger than the slot to help distribute the forces and prevent splitting.

    You are a skew master, it was a pleasure watching yo work. Also a very nice little project to use up small scraps of wood.

      Aaa thank you, I'm far from master, I'm long life student of the craft, I think James Krenov said that.... Thank you very much 🤗

    Leave it a little thicker, don't slice up and you have a great dibble for setting seeds in dirt.

    • @tomislavtomasicwoodturning
      @tomislavtomasicwoodturning  9 месяцев назад

      Indeed, there are many ways to present these in different use

    • @markb8954
      @markb8954 21 день назад

      I made a few dibbers this Spring and was able to sell for about $8.00. Dibbers aren’t really a big use item by US gardeners in general, so their appeal is minimal. Those who know, buy them!

    A very pretty little bag closer and as always amazing tool use and skill. But yes indeed, using a bandswa that way isn't really safe.... Thanks for another nice and instructional video!

    I'll make a dedicated sled for cutting the slot on the bandsaw.

    Jako lijepo! Uzet ću ideju i napravim koji za sljedeći sajam. Sumnjam da bih se prodavalo za tu cijenu, ali brobat ću pa čemo vidjeti.

    That's pretty. I'm sure to try that. $5 USD 3/$12 sounds fair to me. Maybe slightly thicker/shorter for bag pins though. I'll find my stride.

  • @valeriehenschel1590

    So the trick is to make them look crafted rather than mass produced by using eye catching woods and maybe even glue-ups/segmenting? Will have to give them a try.

    • @tomislavtomasicwoodturning
      @tomislavtomasicwoodturning  9 месяцев назад +1

      Segmented glue up pieces could be really nice.... Make them slighty different, not much, that is also sign of hand made...
      Good luck 👍
