Thanks to all four of you for this great series! I have learned so much from watching 4 talented artists show us their approach to the craft. The final finish is awesome🤠🇨🇱
I see what your going for with the texture , a bark look , I like it . The tool you might be thinking of is a brass brush , a wire brush "steel" might be too harsh and tear the grain . Good suction fit too . Thanks for sharing .
Thank you to all 4 of you for doing this every month! Seeing the different designs, approaches, and the jouney along the way is wonderful. I am sure this takes a great deal of time and it is really appreciated.
Cool box Tomislav! I really like the embellishment. Not too sure about the color, though it could grow on you! Interesting watching the four of you! Thanks for sharing! Take care, Dave
Excellent box! Very cool design and I always enjoy the way you work and do really different designs. I also enjoy seeing how you use paint to accent your works. Thank you for sharing!
I like the design and especially the carving but agree with you on varying the color some. Wonder what it would look like if you carved the bottom as well but left it no paint.
Well done! I like the shapes of both the box and the finial. The texturing is definitely cool, however I think I agree with Richard Raffan about extending it to the bottom. That it stops at the joint of the lid and bottom seems a bit too abrupt. I definitely would like to see some greens and blues mixed with the orange. I think that would break the somewhat static mood of the orange. It would tease the eye as you turn it in your hand or walk around it as the colors would be changing. I think this box is an excellent start of a series of boxes. As a project that inspires viewers, you've hit a home run! Great job!
Excellent. Leaving yourself an out with the finial unfinished nub for later use with the live center was a great move. I find myself sometimes not thinking ahead enough, sometimes making the completion of a piece more complicated than it needs to be. Great work!
Thank you very much, I always try to have a vision on how to finish product, so every step .... or at least next one....but Sometimes its spontanious thing as well... Thank you very much
Nicely done! When I was learning to turn, 35 years ago, the only information I could find was Dennis White's videos. His method of hollowing end grain was slightly different than yours and Richard's. If you can find one of his videos it's fun to watch how he did it. Dennis made 6 videos and it's clear that he spent many years making pepper mills! Again, nice job on the box! I have really enjoyed watching you work!
I really look forward to the first of the month for this very reason. I really like the shape and the carving adds some unique visual interest. The orange, as you say, is interesting and I think it's the kind of thing that grows on one as you continue to look at the piece. I'm glad I'm not the only person who gets impatient while waiting for finish to cure (or adhesives for that matter). Overall, this is a really cool looking piece. Now, off to watch the other three videos.
I like the shape and texturing, Tomi. Not so sure about the color on top and the sapwood and heartwood on the bottom. I have a box by Benoit Averly that is somewhat similar in overall shape but your is more practical as his is more like a hollow form with the finial being the top of the vessel. Interesting changes RUclips has made with the description area showing video links that were inserted as cards. I like the easy access to the trasnscript.
Hi Tomislav, I like the form as well as the color! But I think it would have looked a bit better if it was a bit less color, so less grooves in general, maybe 2/3 of what you have now. Nevertheless that's a really nice effect and I think you inspired me to try something similar 🤗 Thanks for your content, have a nice week 🤗
Thank you, its easy to get carried away, and its sort of personal preference, I do like it but after watching a box over a week now I should change the color.... that will be on next video ☺️
@@tomislavtomasicwoodturning Of course it's personal preference 🤗 It might also be that I wouldn't like the result if I saw it with only 2/3 of the grooves 😂 In my head I like it, who knows if it actually turned out that way 😂 But I'm looking forward to your next video, the technique is nice 💃🏽
That was a great project, Tomislav! I like your recent embellishments. You taught us about cleaning up the carving with a brush before paint. Next time. That form, where the final begins, is very good. I thought of a question. Is the top of the finial angled, or is it true? It's not important, I couldn't tell and was curious.
Thank you for the video. A very beautiful box. The paint is too much, I shouldn't have painted it. Instructive video, you showed the artistic design of the boxes. After the tung oil, did you use beeswax or is it a polishing paste?
@@tomislavtomasicwoodturning If you do this, the shine will disappear in a day. Still, you need to let the oil dry, and then apply wax and water. In my works I use Carnauba wax instead of beeswax. Thanks for the answers. P.S I let the oil dry for 2 days. I use Danish oil Watco. Yesterday I found a piece of a car spring, I will make a scraper :) My scrapers are sharpened at 80 degrees. I will do under 45 as you have.
@@_Egor_Egorov_ there are multiple ways of doing it....and the oil dries really quick as there is heat... I don't use beeswax for shine...I don't like shiny high gloss stuff.... so this Works for me... Like I said every turner has its way👍
Really nice piece! Great gift for Autumn events.
Thanks to all four of you for this great series! I have learned so much from watching 4 talented artists show us their approach to the craft. The final finish is awesome🤠🇨🇱
Thank you sir very much for taking the time to watch 4ways and to support what we do ☺️

That is correct, the brass brush thing😂 thank you for watching
I really enjoyed this and learned a lot from it. Thank you. That is a great job.
Best Wishes, Brendan.
Thank you Brendan very much 🤗
Very nice job with the fit.
Thanks 😀
Nice pumpkin color
Thank you 😀
It’s excellent, very good
Thank you very much
.like the design ,quite different. Not so much the orange paint. Nice job of texturing. Thanks for sharing.
Thanks 😀
I learned a lot from you!thank you.
Glad to help out ☺️
That is great !!! So much bigger than Richards!!
Thank you, size its not important, we set to make a suction fit lid box and for 4 of us do it.... the size and design is up to maker😀
Beautiful.
Thank you
I really, really like this box. 🎉
Thank you🤗
Very nice!
Thanks 😀
Very nice mate. You did a great work 👍👍
Thank you
Tom a super job as always you've inspired me to have a go i love the shape ,
Kind regards
From Will 👍 😊
Glad to hear that Will....thank you very much for watching
Beautiful. Really great job.
It's nice! I agree a turquoise might have looked better, but I like the orange too.
Thank you,I do think the same
Outstanding video Tomislav. Thanks 🕶
Thank you very much
This is a nice project. You did a good job. Congratulations. Thank you for sharing the details. all the best.
Thank you for watching
My friend, you have a surgeon’s touch.
Thanks 😀
Nice box. Interesting shape. Thank you for sharing. Have a great day and stay safe.🙂🙂
Thank you sir, have a great day as well
looks great
Thanks 😀
Thanks! Nice detailing on this one!
Thank you sir for generous donation, really appriciate your gesture....
Brilliant idea for a box Tomislav.
Glad you like it 😄
I'm usually not fond of coloring wood, but this is right pretty.
Thank you sir 😀
What a great concept with the top. Great work
Thank you very much 🤗
after turning some bowls its best to watch your videos and relax
Glad to hear that😉
I love the texture and the orange. Good job!
Thanks ☺️
Thanks very nice
Thank you😀
I think I'd like to see the effect in turquoise , as you suggested. A lovely shaped box.😋
Thank you, I'll do something with the color in next video ☺️

Thank you very much for kind words 🤗
I love the technique, the shape and the wood. I'm not crazy about the texturing and the colouring.
But overall, it's a great piece of artistry
Thank you Sir very much 🤗
I'd prefer the orange and texture to go through to the base. Might we see that in another video....
Thanks for suggestion, I'll do something for sure☺️
I like the design and especially the carving but agree with you on varying the color some. Wonder what it would look like if you carved the bottom as well but left it no paint.

Tomislav,
Awesome design, great texturing effect you lost me with the orange. Luv your projects and your videos. Thanks for sharing!

Thank you Rich, color is not in everyones taste, I do like color on turning 😄

Thank you Jay, its angled, I did it of the camera,it takes only a few seconds with a drill🤗
Wire brush? Is that what you might want for in the textured area?
Yes ,thank you 😅
Nice job Tomislav, but what a racket your lathe is making- just saying. Best regards.
Thank you
Man that is cool! How fast were you turning there?
Thank you very much, you mean rpm or how long does it take to make one?
RPM speed....@@tomislavtomasicwoodturning
