    I had the original nova air and used it for kindle and manga. I ended up selling it. I now have the kindle paper white signature and an iPad mini. The boox was a jack of all trades master of none kind of situation. I much prefer reading on the kindle and reading manga and doing other tablet stuff on my iPad.

    It's almost perfect as-is. People complaining about the colors looking "washed out" can just go get an iPad or Fire and stop whining, or stick with black and white if they need their white to be some perfect looking eggshell hue of a specific spectrum. Stop comparing it to something that A) It isn't and B) Something completely different that already exists and is easily purchased if you don't need a color screen.
    The only reason I haven't bought one is the idiocy that decided these screens should be less than the size of a piece of standard A4 paper. Once someone actually uses E-Ink's new 13.3" screen in their product, I will pay any amount of money and store every magazine, pdf, cbr, and anything else on there (and I won't whine and complain about color quality when the alternatives are black and fcking white... seriously what are these people even comparing it to? An LCD screen? Until someone iterates an E Ink display that does better, there's nothing to complain about). Black and white Ereaders are a dime a dozen and not hard to find, THIS is what we need in a proper usable size at least 12" or more.

    I am currently struggling here.
    These eReaders are all badly equipped. Yes, Onyx is trying really hard with calling them "powerful" (like the shill reviews do), but an SD662 ain't powerful. That is a very slow SOC. 3GB RAM, 32GB (eMMC) storage and a small 2000mah battery WITHOUT a microSD slot make it an even worse deal.
    Compare this to a recently released Android tablet (Xiaomi Pad 5). It has an SD860, 6GB RAM, 128GB storage, 8600ish mah battery AND a microSD card slot. It also has quad speakers, which sound decent enough. MSRP 399€, now available for 330ish euros (400€ for the 256GB version). I have a really hard time justifying the Onyx Boox C right now, but I really want it... however I want this for Manga and 32GB of storage is trash for Manga. Ideally I would love to put my whole library on this...
    Why the fuck do they not include an SD slot? Why only 32GB of storage? This is really pissing me off right now as I really want an 8" eReader.

    It's such a cruel balancing act. On one hand, we want e-ink screens to be able to read without getting our eyes strained, that means we can read more and for longer. On the other hand, the more features, the worse the reading experience gets. I do find myself getting tired of reading on my Note Air because of the inferior contrast, even with the backlight on. The Kindle looks like it's engraving those fonts right into my brain. I think we are getting to the point where more is becoming less (but for more $).

      Color e-ink screens aren't that good compared to other ereaders. But the contrast on e-tablets are just as good as kiddle, but e-ink tablets are a lot better in other aspects, like being able to read a lot of text formats and having google

    • @priscila4520
      @priscila4520 2 года назад +2

      @@CrazyAsianDude It's a good thing. It's like paper, but even better, because you can read at night too.
      But kindle is only worth it if you're not planning on reading comics and other books in formats that can't reflow text properly, like PDFs.
      If you want it strictly for reading, then it's the best. If you want other things, like note taking, images, etc, then it'd be better to get a bigger device.

    • @GastonPetrocelli
      @GastonPetrocelli 2 года назад +3

      I agree with most of the comments here. I use my Note Air to work and study.i have to read lots of pdfs and reference technical books. The advantage of having a split screen, global search capabilities (through third party apps) and replacing my paper notebooks is good enough of a reason to invest in it. For reading long books Kindle is the best by far.

      I personally spend a lot more on Eink than LCD screens. I've spent $400+ to get a Nova 3 Color to read anything that requires colour, comics/graphic novels, textbooks, etc. and taking notes in colour; and then I recently purchased a Boox Leaf to read just straight novels on various apps. I save a lot of money using Libby, Perlego (university textbook app), Scribd, etc.
      The reason I make Eink screens a priority over LCD, is that I primarily spend my time reading on tablets, whether reading novels, or news articles, forums/posts, etc. I spend most my time reading and prefer doing so on an Eink screen. The only thing I would personally want an LCD tablet for would be to watch videos occasionally (which I'm more likely to do on my phone, smart tv, or comupter before a tablet). So while I will spend $100s on Eink screens, I'll spend $50 bucks on something like an LCD Amazon fire tablet for this purpose.
