  • This vlog is basically just a 3-week snapshot of getting back to school, doing a few gigs and… drywall work. Looking back, I am glad that the drywall repair is the unusual part of this time but I must admit, I do get a strange new satisfaction every time I look up at that ceiling, (which I do every time I enter the room now).
The first gig was a video shoot and some recording in a studio on music row with Savannah Keyes. The other shows were all at the Listening room in downtown Nashville with various noteworthy artists including Runaway June, Caylee Hammack and Ashley McBryde. I’m also happy to say that the folks at Song Suffragettes have decided that I get to play at least one of my own songs at every show so I’ve been enjoying that immensely.
I’m 16 years old and I want to be a music professional when I grow up. I try to play lots of instruments but the one that I feel most at home on is a drum set. I would say the only thing that impresses me more than a great musician is a great songwriter so I also spend a lot of my time writing and recording. I thought it would help me keep focused on music if I started a drum series where I learned a new song every couple of weeks. After 5 years, it’s now turned into a larger musical search but my goal hasn’t changed. Hopefully, I will keep doing music, keep loving it and keep getting better.

Putty knife skill learned at an early age is impressive. The tendency is to press too hard like on that tape. I like how you left it alone after you kind of raised it up, it's easier to sand it down a little than doing like 4x of filling in the dips. Anyway great job and that stuff I think does have urea in it which is basically broken down tuna lol.

Mia Morris Drywall company doesn't quite have the same ring as Mia Morris Music Goddess but who say's you can't have a hobby.
There once was a female musician,
    quite comfortable in her position,
    she knew something was afoot,
    when the ceiling went kaput,
and she's regretting that fateful decision.

Enjoyed this video. Mia’s an incredibly likable kid. I say kid because I’m like 150, but she’s a charismatic young woman. Authentic, humble confidence, that says, “this is me, and I’m the way I’m supposed to be”. Good things are destined for her, in my opinion, and well deserved. My guess is she answers to something greater than herself, and it shows in in her actions. Don’t ever change. People who call you friend should consider themselves fortunate.

So cool to see Ashley McBryde included in this video. I remember seeing her play at the Germantown Performing Arts Center here in Memphis. It was her last gig in Memphis before signing a record deal and going on tour with High Valley. I remember the last song she told this amazing story about her grandfather and how he taught her to play. She the revealed that she was playing that exact same guitar and proceeded to play a song in his honour. That was one of best live performances I've seen in person. (apart from Rush because im a drummer at heart) If you ever get a chance to play another gig with her I highly recommend. She's an amazing songwriter too

@@miamorrismusic also on a whole separate note. I love what your doing with your channel I love watching your vlogs because you do exactly what i wish i was doing with my musical career. When I was 15 I tried starting a band and met a lot of people though that. The band broke up because my guitarist moved away. Since then I've focused on my own craft and trying to develop as multi instrumentalist and song writer. Now I'm 19 and in college and by 2021 ill be at MTSU pursuing a recording industry degree. I've developed a lot in the last few year. I say all of that because every time i watch your vlogs it inspires me to want to try to get out and immerse myself in the music scene again. I'd love to come out and see one of the show's your involved with if i ever get the chance. Keep up the good work. You are an inspiration. 😊

To whoever made the comment comparing Mia to Avril. Let me preface this with saying I used to be in bands, until health issues happened. I saw Avril in concert maybe first album (don't ask... Invited to a concert, free tix, blah blah). The beer line was short, so there's that. Anyway, not only could she sing but also played bass. And then, her opening act came back up and she played drums for that band. Mia reminds me of her. So don't dis Avril, but much respect for the analogy with Mia! Keep it up girl! You, too, one day soon soon could be performing in a stadium serving lemon ice throughout the crowd! :)

Vlog 24-25 and similar ones are like parts of a documentary specifically about "music city" and how a young girl negotiates her way her way upward to better venues with better known musicians and writers while learning more technical skills, music skills, and what someone has to do to further a career. It will probably be required watching in some professor's course at Belmont University. If Mia can make these videos with her unsuspecting friends and teach the uninitiated so much about the biz she could easily get to "gigs" as a Guest Lecturer at Belmont and other institutions. Sometimes her vlog videos fall apart (a lot of broken glass and splashed paint) because of the care she takes in making them. Spontaneity and planned chaos help prove the point.

What you need is more appointments !...You have a real distaste for school ever since I've followed you. You just want to totally work on your craft and be the growing artist you want to be. And you only get better. I have to say I'm also impressed by your 'Home Depot ' skills,... nice work their journeyman Mia. Oh, and yes, you keep wearing my tees !,.. Really looking forward to hearing lots of your music on Spotify. I bet there are some real gems coming. I'll be boosting the ones I like best, and then I'll boost the rest. Hope you like what I've done so far. I'm trying to boost all your songs evenly with a little personal preference bias. If I just focused on one song, it would get 50k plays per week. Just keep doing what you're doing musically.
As regards the drywall repair, I'm very very impressed. The proof is whether you can see the patch after the paint dries. If you didn't sand it flat, it will be quite noticeable. Two safety pointers though: Stand on a taller ladder, and wear a mask. Thanks for sharing. It was fun to watch.

You, dear Mia, are one amazing young lady. I love that your dad made you fix that little boo boo but what you learned there will be with you always. You get board beating drums or playing music and want a break, come on over because I have some tape and float work that I'm pretty sure you could handle like a rock star that you are. XOXOXO

Mia, seriously . . . is there anything you can't do? Give the rest of us some hope and let us in on something! I mean, I'm a guy who *should* be able to fix drywall, and I even have spots that need fixing. I'd never even attempt it. I'm not saying that to imply "Wow, you're a girl and you can do stuff!" I'm saying it to imply that I'm defective when it comes to fixing or building anything. What I *do* know, is that independence and those kinds of skills mean you don't need to rely on anyone for anything. And, BTW, my Daughter will also tackle any project, and it makes me feel good. It also makes me feel good when every once in a while, there's something *she* doesn't know, and I get to step in with a little insight. 👍🏻👍🏻 to you and your Dad. You're quite the team. 😃

this comment gave me a smile, thanks. I'm quite sure she appreciates your insight more than she will probably ever tell you :)

Mia Morris The beauty of it is, she *does* tell me all the time, as I'm sure you do with your Dad. I think the most important things to remember as a parent are: 1) We were once young, and 2) Provide young adults and even younger children with information, and let them make a choice. Oh, and 3) Young people actually know things. They can keep you young, informed, and prevent you from falling totally out of touch. I have no idea how I got onto this long ramble, but I guess it's mostly because your parents must be so proud of you, and you of them: especially because kids don't come with an owner's manual, and they seem to have parenting pretty well figured out. 😃

Hi Mia listening from Australia here.
Love your work and your videos especially my two personal favourites that you do.
every little thing she does is magic and Ballroom Blitz. They were done perfectly on point. Also did you buy such a big bucket of plaster because you are anticipating another hole in the ceiling.
Anyway keep up the good work have a great weekend

Hi, Mia! I enjoyed very much your new video: it's very spontaneous! My brother was an expert in house work and do it your self work: I lost him for Cancer disease some years ago; now I became the expert, in addition to my plants' interest. I asked many times to Songsuffragettes staff to make sing a more song to you: you deserve it! With Songsuffragettes I'm in contact by IG direct messages. Have a great weekend and greetings to your dad! Renato

My paint started to peel because it didn't have an undercoat and i ended up feeling off the whole kitchen and tried to fill around the plaster nails so it was smooth but ended up being a total nightmare and i never got to ceiling flat.
