    Exactly what I searched for. The difference between the E8 and S8. Good video. Thanks.

    I have the S8 and love it. 2 months in and I can say that this Jura S8 is better then I hoped for. I love the taste, milk based is so good, froth is truly the best from steamed milk hot to foam not as hot. Just the best .

    Funny how people with E8 wanted to justify they got a better system than S8 lol.
    We never had any problems with our S8. I can’t speak for E8, but so far our Chrome S8 is 5 star, 5 Diamond award. Super smooth, technologically designed into perfection and superb quality built with top grade taste. Amazing! This is what part of good life is all about.

    I believe the S8 is made in Switzerland and the E8 in Portugal. Quite a premium for that though.

    My only problem is that the S8 touch screen malfunctions often. Jura told me to unplug the machine, clean the screen which will fix it but it didn't. Then they now are suggesting E8 bc its the same machine with out the touch screen. Also, do you fine that S8 foaming frother makes big steam splash as it starts the frothing process?

    • @iDrinkCoffeeCanada
      @iDrinkCoffeeCanada  5 лет назад +2

      We haven't had any reports of the screen malfunctioning as of yet. Touch screen technology is very widely used so it shouldn't be an issue. What problems are you having?

      @@iDrinkCoffeeCanadaTouch screens are widely known in the technical community for being less reliable than actual buttons.
      I for one NEVER buy a touch screen device if I can help it. Also: Touchscreens often aren't actually faster for often repeated tasks and UX wise clicky buttons generally give a better end-user response. Touchscreens are fancy for being fancy.

    I can tell you it’s not worth it to get the S8. Foam is not so great and the coffee with foam cools the coffee down too much. And it’s a bit of an inconvenience to clean the milk frothier after every dang cup or 2

    I have the feeling the S8 replaced the S9, because Jura accidentally put too much features into the S9 and started eating into their higher-end lineup.
    To make the S8 worthwhile they added a touchscreen, PEP and moveable milk-side. Imho thats not worthwhile.
    - While the touchscreen is generally of high quality, has a lower dutycycle and is less reliable than a physical button press. I think "Click&Go" buttons are still a way more UX friendly option, unless you need many different recipees. I mostly program 4 or less recipees anyway. (1 or 2 milk, single/dual espresso and/or lungo)
    - There is no actual review on PEP itself. The diagrams also don't really indicate why it would be as special as they claim. What is funny is the fact they actually add a membrane filter to filter out pulses in extraction in the first place. If anyone has a good article on PEP and review of the taste difference I'm all ears. In till then I'm flagging this as "mostly markting bullshit".
    - Movable milkside is nice, i'll give them that. Shame they limited the coffeeside at the S8 at the same time though. Love being able to pull 10 shots into a can when making tiramisu

    S8 is slightly higher cost?? It's $500 USD more.

    • @iDrinkCoffeeCanada
      @iDrinkCoffeeCanada  3 года назад

      In Canada the price is $400 higher which is about 16% more than the e8

      For commercial use I would recommend Jura's commercial line. Something like the WE8 is the commercial equivalent of the e8. The x8 is also a nice choice

    • @mroek
      @mroek 5 лет назад

      @@iDrinkCoffeeCanada Do you know if the WE8 has the exact same internals as the E8, except for the overall size and capacities of the bean hopper and the water tank (and the drip tray)? Since the WE8 is specified for a higher usage (brews per day), I would expect perhaps that the internals are also somewhat beefier, but is that true?

    • @iDrinkCoffeeCanada
      @iDrinkCoffeeCanada  5 лет назад +1

      @@mroek the internals are actually the same. The difference is the water tank and bean hopper size and the rating. The WE8 is rated for commercial use whereas the E8 is not. Another good choice is the X8 which is a newer machine and only costs a little bit more than the WE8 but it does have more features

    • @mroek
      @mroek 5 лет назад +1

      @@iDrinkCoffeeCanada Thanks for replying. I actually have a WE8 on the way, so I was curious if it had different internals to the E8, given the higher rating. My current J9 is now 7 years old, and close to 32000 cups, which is quite respectable. It is getting a bit tired though, and I have done some servicing (deep cleaning of the brew group, for example) on it lately. Only part that has been replaced is a thermistor, but I suspect the pump is also getting near end of life.

      For us it was not worth an additional $500 for a touch screen which will get lots of fingerprints, and a metal lid. Our E8 looks great and makes wonderful coffee. Also new E8 has a better grinder.
