Nice video, but in my opinion most important 8 differences that makes E8 stand out from more expensive S8 are: 1. Intelligent pre-heating on E8, not available on S8. E8 is basically a PID machine, with precision temp control. 2. One-touch program for milk nozzle cleaning on E8, not available on S8. On S8 you have to manually remove and rinse the milk spout. LOL. 3. Double grind espresso (espresso doppio) available on E8 only 4. Faster and quieter, newer generation grinder on E8 5. Coffee Americano one-push button from menu on E8, on S8 you have to swap the nozzles and dispense hot water separately as per video (silly, because you are paying $3k) 6. E8, has no regular Latte, that's a bummer. It has fancy Macchiato with layers of milk and coffee, but no regular latte. S8 has both drinks. 7. To get extra hot water for your hot chocolate or coffee, on S8 you have to swap the milk spout with water spout, E8 has dedicated hot water spout in the middle, available anytime 8. There is big difference in price, E8 is less expensive, and has more features, you are basically paying only for the touch screen and ability to save, name user's drinks. Touch screen is nice, but you can also buy a Wi-Fi adapter for either for about $95 and have 10 inch or bigger screen using your iPad tablet, if you like big touch screens.🤭
if the s8 model costs $1200, is it better to choose the e8 model anyway? I only drink milk drinks, so the most important thing for me is whether the p.e.p. function is possible in milk drinks on the s8 model? or will it require manual rest expresso with p.e.p. technology and then separate milk
Great video! I have the S8...what type of grind do you recommend for a strong cup when using the bypass doser for decaf?? I just tried what I had already ground and the espresso is pretty weak...
For the dirty lungo on the S8, how much espresso and how much water do you recommend and would you just customize the volume on an espresso to create this?? So it would be a shot or two of espresso but with greater volume than usual?? If you could program a dirty lungo, wouldn't that be the same as an Americano?
The biggest difference is, that the S8 cost 50-70% more. For the touch screen and no foam milk. And maybe add, that you can do profiles for the drinks and rename then on S8 And having no Americano in one click. For me E8 ist simple the far better choice for the money. Ofc there is also J8, thich has better grinder, where you can change the grid in idle. And ofc having the sirup tool, but thich you can buy for E8 and S8 if you rly want some sirup milk. For the e8 still remains the best machine.
Thank you guys for the video; I don’t have an experience with these machines. I wonder which Jura machine am I supposed to choose, to get a coffee closest to the filter coffee which I drink in the mornings?
All Jura or superautomatic machines will produce espresso based coffee, closer to an Americano, very delicious but not drip coffee. We would recommend coming in for a demo to taste test :)
Great info, well presented. Exactly what I wanted to know. I'm going with the S8. Wish you were closer so I could stop by, but... thanks for the presentation
Haha hilarious but GOOD video. Although next time, Wendy watch the other way towards the camera :) bought the S8 yesterday realy looking forward to it. I came from Siemens EQ9 S500. Greets fromo the Netherlands.
It would appear the E8 in the US is not as well specc’ed as in Europe. I have the E8 and it has the ground coffee sensor as well as the adjustable milk frother.
Americano was a name given to the coffee that the Amercans drank during world war 2. The Americans found the Italian coffee to strong and added hot water to make a sissy coffee😂😂
I don't get this with the S8. A more expensive machine has less functionality than the less expensive machine? Referring to the lack of the third tube hot water spout wedged between the coffee spouts. Currently waiting for an S8 to arrive but already feeling pretty negative about this situation.
@@ecscoffeeinc Thought I'd follow up... Ended up receiving the S8. Wouldn't recognize the included water filter, setup would not proceed unless that step completed. Ordered a new filter. Machine would not recognize that filter either. Clearly something wrong with the RFID sensor. Pretty poor engineering IMHO: from the inability to bypass this step and just get on with it, to the fact that it was DOA in the first place. All in all, the machine, for the price, is very very very excessively made out of plastic. Even the "chrome" parts are just chrome-plated plastic. Needing to swap out the spout just to get hot water vs steam is a ridiculous feature. Sent the machine back and ordered a Breville Oracle Touch along with a matching Smart Grinder Pro (so I could do both decaf and caf). While the Oracle cost slightly more in this case, for the price it is a far better machine IMHO and it also weighs a ton, which reminds me of my old Rancilio Silvia that I owned for years. The Oracle is also a dual boiler, where the S8 only offers a single thermal block. While the Breville grinder may not be as good as the Rocky grinder I used to own, I prefer its updated looks (would be cool if the hopper was swappable with the one on the Oracle...haven't tried but doubt they are). At this point I've done the whole coffee enthusiast thing and I think this combination hits the sweet spot for my needs. The cleaning regime on super autos can be pretty intense, I think Miele finds a better compromise with their dual milk tube system but Jura is just way behind on this. Jura should spend more time updating their machines rather than focusing on selling their own maintenance supplies. Wish there were more videos which covered the cleaning downside, the actual physical construction of the machines... I researched this to death and was entirely surprised (shocked) by the literally exclusive use of plastic throughout the Jura, the poorly designed user interface, and then the entirely limited customer support hours (just so everyone knows: they operate M-F on an eastern time schedule).
@@markeissler Hi Mark! Sorry you had a bad experience with the Jura S8.. We haven't heard of the machine not recognizing the filter! The oracle is a great machine, we are glad that you found a machine that works better for you!

Phew, I had purchased the E8 before seeing the review and your helpful summary 😊

Hi interested in the jura e8 what is your current instore best price ?

How do you adjust how many grams of beans your adding on the S8? Is that the bean slider? If so, what does each increment represent ?
Yes it is the bean slider :) This will grind 12-16 grams!

Glad it was helpful!
I’ve been very happy with my S8. Even the wife loves it.
Extremely useful video

Thanks for the tip!
Which one is ??? on the left??? on the right???
Left is the E8 if looking at the screen. But these are older versions and an old video. There are new machines out now.
thanks for the comparison! regarding the grinder on the E8, how does it fare with lightly roasted coffee? thanks!
Pretty good with all coffee...light and medium. It is the darks that are more of challenge in these machines
One thing I’ve noticed is you don’t need dark beans for that strong coffee in the Jura e8
Where do I put the pre ground coffee
There is a chute at the back of the machine
It would appear the E8 in the US is not as well specc’ed as in Europe. I have the E8 and it has the ground coffee sensor as well as the adjustable milk frother.
Could be a different version
I’ve noticed James Hoffman say this about North American machines v European machines from the same manufacturer 😢
is it true the e8 does not tell you when you run out of beans?
True. You'll hear the audible difference of the machine grinding when there's no beans compared to beans present
If you use distilled water do you still need the filter...
You don't not:)
Wouldn’t distilled water effect the taste? I heard buying distilled water and adding in your own mineral tablets was the best way

There are some features on the S8 that are superior.

Also the ways to clean the milk system are different.
Mu jura doesn't have americano option it has special which brews regular coffee not pulsating espresso
Can you make a "dirty long" on a Jura S8?
Yes you can!
It's pronounced "YOO-Rah" not "JOO-rah."
