Ed King inspired me to play heavy metal. His most iconic opening riffs like you've said make everlasting rounds in my mind
RIP Gary. The last of a legendary group.
Hank Jr singing with Lynyrd Skynyrd proves this song is iconic if nothing else does!
No it doesn't you just think its a catchy thing to post but its bollock speak
Welsh and British here. Keep the stars n bars flying high, brothers and sisters.

Hack, I’m from Australia and I well up with Southern Pride when I hear this song. Best “back at ya” song ever written.
Even 50 years later, this song is still a classic.
You make me feel old with that comment but! You are right and I AM old..✌

Deadman song but live forever.
You know it's a good song when they're singing about Alabama and it's still an iconic song all the way across the ocean here in Australia.
Assuming you havent noticed the crowd . White ? W HY COULD THAT BE ? Think about that in the land you stole from the natives. Just saying .
You got that right!! From the USA New Mexico...dancin here with this Awesome song.
Have a friend from Mexico told me he grew upon Skynyrd down there just like we did.
@@vincentbrannelly8786 nice trolling dude, and an attempt to stir up an argument, this song was actually a song written AGAINST the racist segregation laws in Alabama at the time. Well see ya

Deadman song but live forever.......awesome. Who still listen this song ? The awesome Ronnie van Zant, he predicted he would die young and it happened. Speechless. RIP brother Ronnie Van Zant.
I'm Scottish and this is one of my favourite songs 🇺🇲
From a time of real musicians, real rock, real bands.
You got that right ...... "FROM a time"....
True so true - glad I was young than and not now-a-days - Thank you God in Heaven!
Many of the rock musicians of the time had classical training, such as Freddy Mercury. They worked hard to conceal their roots from their fans. Classical training and long wigs over short hair. ZZ Top was unrecognizable without their dreadlock caps! KISS had their makeup, etc.
Theres just something about southern rock that gives a off calming mood
This is what America sounds like🇺🇸
You know how iconic you gotta be to have Hank Williams Jr singing one of your songs with you on stage
They are one of the BEST rock and roll bands EVER. Long live Alabama!
..... and I'll come to Alabama this year
no they’re not fuck off
Just can't beat Southern Rock like this. Absolutely love Lynyrd Skynyrd. This should be the new state song for the great state of ALABAMA!
i see you mr Gump
They should choose this for their state. I totally agree. Have traveled across the southern states and I loved it. These People are full of Soul and earned my Respect. The South isn‘t Dixie, but Dixie is aPart ofit✌️👍🙋🏻♂️
Fantastic! Always!
Even though they were from Jacksonville, FL.
@@michaelvollmer9491. Sorry but the South is Dixie.
Sweet Home Alabama is an absolute rock music evergreen. Just great how it goes with the American rock band Lynyrd Skynyrd.
Seems as like it was just yesterday feeling young while listening on it.loved that song since vietnam war.
het een van de beste nummers
❤😂
It’s simple... just simple rock n’ roll
That's why I love it.
This right here is both rock and roll gold and quintessential Americana. If you come across this and dont stop...turn it up...and enjoy every second, something is wrong with you.
A damn minute in and Im headed for the Kleenex. Damn it!
the simplest riff yet 1 of the most iconic riffs of all time

Yes! THE Alabama state anthem!
Lynyrd Skynyrd, Forrest Gump & all those live forever!
Ronnie and Forrest would be very happy lol
When you hear people in Atlantic City singing that hard about Alabama- you know it's Lynyrd Skynyrd!
Might be the best live performance of any song ever.
I think your right. Just saw them live at The Toyota Center in Houston, Texas this past year November 2022. They didn't miss a lick, good as ever what a show!
You can easily see how everyone on stage is having a GREAT time sharing the LOVE with their audience while playing one of the most iconic rock 'n roll classics ever recorded. This is the beauty of what LIVE MUSIC is all about people!
Oh man this is real American rock, rock forever guys
Not my favorite song of theirs but a good one
Those two female backing singers are so good they could put out their own CD their voices are that good, the band rocks! Missed them when they came to New Zealand, I was busy in hospital in a coma from a brain aneurism! When I came out of my coma, I got straight back and listened to these guys! I was my version of rehabilitation, it worked!
That’s so good to hear
Wish you great health 👍
Music is ❤️🎶👍
Good that you're OK now, and once again listening to real music.
Yeah, they're amazing innit? But then this whole recording is ecstatic. Sorry to hear about your troubles, Sir, but many happy returns, brother. Pleased you've been on the mend.
Omg That’s guitar heaven right there! 😍🎸there’s a Stratocaster, gretsch,Gibson explorer, Gibson Les Pauls and the bass is a fender Gibson hybrid “fender bird”
Greatness is never lost it just keeps getting better.
Ain't no place like the South man. Lived in the South all my 74 years in Louisiana and Arkansas, can't beat it.
How do you know if you've been nowhere else?
@@standarddefinition8195 I have traveled in the US and after living 74 years in the South I think I know what I like and what is important in life to me. I raised a family, practiced law for 40 years before retiring, am well read, a history buff and do not live in a cave.
@@garybeauchamp3623 - well , Mexico's a lot further south , and me being from north-western Europe prefer to live in Mexico - and a lot of other 'southern' places - to living in most places in MAGA-land !

@@standarddefinition8195 Are you an idiot? In this day and time, people do have means of travel. You can visit other places, but do you want to live there? No, Gary is right. No better place to live than the SOUTH. Even though some restaurants in Ark. don't serve sweet tea(a Yankee thing). You must be a YANKEE. Hopefully you are not a Damn Yankee. That's what we in the South call a Yankee that comes South and stays!
After decades this song has lost none of it's energy!!!

That’s because he cAme from Alabama if u know what I mean.
Very few songs from current artists that bring such energy. They are outstanding in person.

Very good@@fernandogaspar4393
Totally agree
Just so glad I grew up in the 60s/70s, timeless music
Two of the greatest guitar players ever! Famous riff lives on forever 👏👏
This music will never get old.
god bless the southern states
Robert Edward Lee The southern states both before and after the civil war are pathetic, they bitched and moaned about how they couldn’t make slaves do their farm work, because god forbid they do it themselves. So much so that they tried to split off, unfortunately for them, they were a bunch of stupid, inbred dipshits. So they inevitably lost the war.
This gives me what I need out of Rock and roll
Lynyrd Skynyrd ROCKS!!!! Best band EVER!!!!!!
From Cali and I love SOUTHERN ROCK !!
Ya all love southern rock--listen to Blackberry Smoke-- some Georgia boys. Southern Rock On!!!
Your lucky to still be alive.
I wonder what Dre would say to that?

From a portuguese southern man: - Sweet home Dixieland - real home of the braves.
They must have played this song a thousand times, and they still love playing it.
I listen to this song four times a week. What a great group of artists!

Still to this day and all these years later that opening guitar makes the hairs on the back of my neck stand to attention absolute class :)
Same with me, which is weird because I live in UB, Mongolia.
Ed King from Strawberry Alarm Clock came up with that. He was great.
If you believe it's time for the south to rise again where's the confederate flag like the real Skynard
