My best mate passed away yesterday, he called me a few years ago and told me to watch this video and said...remind you of anything??? Best of times...RIP Brett you beauty...
Today is the 3 yr anniversary of my dad's pass. He was a good ol country boy from Alabama, but loved this song. I'm listening to it for him tonight. Sorry for your loss. If you're having a drink tonight, cheers to our dads.
This is one of my favorite songs. I grew up in Alabama. I did 26 years in the Army most of my time was in Airborne and special ops. I heard this song on Arm Forces Radio in Afghanistan. I taught our interpreter to sing This song and then Sweet home Alabama. I was very fortunate to get him and his family out. They live about ten miles
I’m here bc my 78 yr old mom asked me to add it to her playlist 😆 My best friend passed away this summer and she loved Kid Rock..so I’m putting a tribute video together for her to Only God Knows Why. I think everyone has a Kid Rock song they love! The Rebel Without a Cause album was massive when I was younger..it’s one of my feel good go-to’s 😎
I am 64. Never heard this song til a year before my husband passed from Covid. It was our favorite song for the last year of his life. I went to Laughlin to see Kid Rock last Oct. What an amazing experience!
This was one of my dad's favorite songs, he'd play this sometimes in the car. RIP 1969-2023 EDIT: How did I not get notifications for this comment? Thank y'all so much! :)
This was one of my mom’s favorite songs. We used to sing it in the car together. She died from cancer 8 years ago. She never wanted me to be sad though. She said she would be partying in heaven. I hope they have music in heaven, so she can listen to this.
These were the times we took for granted. Everytime I listen to Kid Rock, I think of all the fun times I've had with my dad and 2 older brothers, camping, fishing, traveling, having the best time we can have. Now we're grown up and do our own thing and my dad doesn't want to do anything any more. I love ya dad. I'll never forget our amazing moments/time together as a whole family.
This song rocks. Makes me remember all the good I had when I was younger. Here I am in my 60s still enjoy listening to it.. Kid Rock keep jamming brother
Man, I got a ton of stories. Living in Nashville we got Alot of lakes & my youth was just unbelievable. I used to drive my bass boat up & down the lake shore he's driving in this video. Fish it, have picnics right there where those 2 twins are with the rebel flag bikini. That's Hendersonville TN. My cousin is a country song writer, lives right down the street from that video shoot. This video kicks my memory into overdrive. Such good times. We can't go back but we have the God given memories.
@JeffreyHill-zv5xd I lived in Nashville in the 80s. My best friend played steel guitar for Porter Wagoner in his all girl band that he had at the time. I got to travel with them sometimes. I met alot of the old country stars. Mel Tillis was always a good time. I remember going to a Bass fishing tournament and at the weigh in Mel put little pebbles in the gills to make them weigh more. I worked at the Opryland Hotel as a cocktail waitress and met so many good musicians. I really miss those good ol days. I'm 65 now and I can still party with the best.😊
My son and daughter love singing this song together. Everytime I play music, they request I play it. I pretend to be sick of hearing the song, but to be honest, I love it. ❤

I had a blonde surfer girl that fit this song perfectly. We were 14 and 15 just discovering America. We went our separate ways a few years later and didn't see each other for 40 years. We bumped into each other again after 40 years and 2 life times passed us by. We started to kindle a love that we should have ignited 45 years before. Before we could really discover the love that we both knew could have been the ingredients for an unbreakable and deep discovery of ourselves she went to her final and long deserved rest. She passed in her sleep leaving me with the love that I have to her until she meets me when I cross over to greet her forever. Ours was the summer of 1971.
I hear you, so very sorry. Lost my very first GF to cancer last year. Hadn't seen her since 1972, we dated in high school (both had part time jobs in the same place) in 1968 and we were crazy about each other. It fell apart when I moved from Vermont to Boston (college). It was a long time ago, but I cried when I heard that she passed last year. I guess you don't get over your first after all. I wish you peace.
I've loved Kid Rock since I was a kid. My mom was from Michigan, & I was born & raised in Tennessee so everyone around me listened to his music. This song came out when my brother & I were kids, we created a "stage" outside in the yard, set up lawn chairs, & made the family (including our grandparents & great grandmother) come listen to us preform it 😂 theres probably a video of that somewhere.. My brother passed away 2 years ago, its crazy how a song can take you back to a place & time just like it was yesterday.. ❤️

@@MrEatSomeBrains The guitar solo is from "Sweet Home Alabama" by Lynryd Skynyrd and the intro and other parts are ripped off from "Werewolves of London" by Warren Zevon.

I love this song. I mean, anything between Werewolves of London and Sweet Home Alabama tune gets an automatic thumbs up. Nobody could have done it better. Kid Rock is the man..
Reminds me of my summers on the lake in Wisconsin during the 80's. Just a couple years later I was in the Army and in combat. Never did see that girl again. Thanks man.
I was little when this song came out, but it wasn’t till I got out of high school when I realized what this song was about. Looking back on the summer I graduated, it was the best summer ever. Hanging out with my friends over the weekends and having no cares or worries whatsoever. I wish I could be with them and my high school crush again
Let me just say this, because it does not look like anyone else has yet- LYNYRD SKYNYRD. I was a teenager in high school when the "Sweet Home Alabama" first hit the radio airwaves. I can't even begin to tell you how much fun I had or can I begin to describe what the world was like back then. Just to say it was different is the biggest understatement of all time. Even the funny things we were smoking was different. lol So even if Kid Rock did not really write this music, I still love this song. I used to think that the music from my generation would be forgotten in time, but thank god I was wrong. It was just too good to be forgotten!
When I was younger my mom used to love this song she would dance and sing when it came on all the time and tell me how much she loved this song the in 2009 she passed when I was 11 and now that I’m 26 years old lived my life I can truly resonate with this song and I know the feeling she was feeling when she listen to this song and it’s such a free feeling love you mom ❤

Not sure how old your mom was but if she was born in the 70s and a teen in the late 80s...it was a great time to be 17 in 1989... I was and it was the most amazing year of my life.... listen to it in honor of your mom knowing she was having the time of her life back then ❤❤
@@MydNyteRayne Thank you very much dear, I really appreciate your love and support towards me and the band. I hope you are having a good day? Thanks you for being my great fan I hope you never stop listening to my musics.
This song reminds me of my Dad (RIP) he would pick us kids up on the weekends and he would take us to the drive-in in Streator IL, was his favorite song. Takes me back to the '70's.
Damn I was born in the early 2000’s and I remember I loved this song when I was little even if I didn’t know what they were saying, but I still loved it driving in the car with my mom when she took me on a road trip. I didn’t know what this song was called until I finally found it a few years ago and it just flooded with memories coming back. Now when I listen to this song again and see the music video for like the 3rd time I wish I was born back then in that decade when everything was fun and everything was just peace and love, didn’t have to worry about anything, you could party and have fun with your friends and everyone got along with each other. I seriously don’t belong in this decade that I’m in. I’m more of an old soul I like classic music from the 70’s 80’s and 90’s I love the clothes that they used to have (and yes I know that they’re back now) I love the old classic cars they had. I also love how there wasn’t that much technology like there is now. Every time my mom talks about everything when she was little I always say “damn I really wish I was born in that time so bad”. But my mom said that if I was born in that time I wouldn’t know how all of this technology works, I would be like her not knowing all this difficult technology that we have now, which is true I wouldn’t know anything but the more I think about it, I honestly wouldn’t give a shit if I didn’t know about technology that much, at least I would have lived the life back in those decades.
This is the exact same way i feel. I wish I was born back in the good old days. I dont like now a days. I'm an old soul . it makes me sad because I'm terrified to see where this world is going
This song has described almost every teenage experience before the invention of cell phones & internet. A time when no one was trying to "go viral" and all of our crazy dumb shit we did was not recorded for the world to see lol thankfully for some of us, those days are locked up tight and only seen in the memories of only those who were there! I miss the simpler time before everything got all hectic with becoming an adult and the biggest thoughts were when and where?
Yeah I think I was born right around the time cell phones, internet and newer technology fucked everything. I always remembered this song when I was just a tot, going to northern michigan with family and I guess I just miss those times. I understand phones fucked everything up, it's depressing
@@seventyfivepesos8685 you might be right... believe me I know what you mean, I live for the weekends, which is the vibe im gettin off this song, still, those days were better...
Every time I hear this song memories from my teenage years come flooding back. If I could only go back there and relive those times again. No internet, no cell phones and yes, that one girl that is no longer in my life but will forever hold a spot inside my soul, thinking man I'd love to see that girl again.
This was my mom's favorite song the last few years of her life. She passed in 2016 to cancer, and this song always got her vibing and happy. She was my best friend, it's hard to listen to this, but every once I awhile.... It's like she's in the car singing it all happy. Great job Kid Rock! Ps. I live in Charlevoix currently, and seen you land not too long ago! Very cool! ❤
My Mom passed away in 2O16 as well. Her favorite song was "Hey Jude". Also...when I was a kid my mom would walk into our living room whenever I played "Obladi Oblada" (from the Beatles White Album) on our record player...she would dance to that song. I will ALWAYS have that memory with me...
Combining Warren Zevon's Werewolves Of London melody with Kid Rock's nostalgic lyrics, with a nod to Lynyrd Skynyrd's Sweet Home Alabama is simply perfect. Kid, you're a genius.

All Summer Long by Kid Rock is a nostalgic anthem that captures the essence of carefree youth. With its catchy melody and infectious energy, the song evokes vivid memories of summer days spent by the lake, sipping whiskey, and basking in the sun. Kid Rock's raspy vocals add a raw authenticity to the lyrics, while the prominent use of Lynyrd Skynyrd's "Sweet Home Alabama" creates a sense of classic rock nostalgia. The song's success can be attributed to its ability to tap into a universal longing for simpler times, resonating with audiences of all ages. While some may criticize its simplistic lyrics and lack of lyrical depth, All Summer Long undeniably serves as a fun and uplifting celebration of youthful escapism.
Sometimes my local contry staion WCOS here in SC sometimes plays this to this day but not much. I think its a good thing because if you have too much of a good thing it gets boring so its best to do it in moderation

Thanks Kid Rock - for giving us awesome tunes and best of all for creating a bridge from Skynyrd and John Cougar(Mellencamp) to today!
Hello are you one of my special true music fan?
The tunes are not from him. the original song is called "werewolves of london " by warren zevon.
@@MrEatSomeBrains The guitar solo is from "Sweet Home Alabama" by Lynryd Skynyrd and the intro and other parts are ripped off from "Werewolves of London" by Warren Zevon.

Reminds me of my summers on the lake in Wisconsin during the 80's. Just a couple years later I was in the Army and in combat. Never did see that girl again. Thanks man.
Here we go again. The broken military man. Not interested.
I was little when this song came out, but it wasn’t till I got out of high school when I realized what this song was about. Looking back on the summer I graduated, it was the best summer ever. Hanging out with my friends over the weekends and having no cares or worries whatsoever. I wish I could be with them and my high school crush again
Hello are you one of my special true music fan?
Man. You got that right! No One would believe the stuff We did listening to SR songs! \/m
It really was to good to be forgotten, and life was so good. Long live ROCK AND ROLL. I loved listening to Lynyrd Skynyrd. Great memories.😊😊😊😊🎸🎸🎸

@@MydNyteRayne Thank you very much dear, I really appreciate your love and support towards me and the band. I hope you are having a good day? Thanks you for being my great fan I hope you never stop listening to my musics.
Kid Rock was so underrated as a southern rock singer.
I feel the same way when I hear this song.
The 70's-80's were the best.

Very well put. I couldn't have said it better.
Yeah I think I was born right around the time cell phones, internet and newer technology fucked everything. I always remembered this song when I was just a tot, going to northern michigan with family and I guess I just miss those times. I understand phones fucked everything up, it's depressing
No kidding.
Life is very similar to this, trust me we’re having a lot of fun in our own right. No need to worry about us.
Ditto man, So true
what's her name? maybe she will run in to you one day singing this song in the grocery store . :)

Me.
If this song doesn't remind you of your youth, you haven't lived.
