Before Nickleback, bands were torn apart for "selling out". Being a music hipster was "cool". After 2010, hipsterism burned out and now we're in an age where selling out is normalized and expected. Nickleback is fine - their earlier stuff is more my jam (up to the Long Road), after that they got mostly unlistenable to me but others seemed to like it.
I just turned 71. I've been fortunate enough to have seen a lot of the greats - live. I've seen everyone, on TV, from Elvis to when I threw out my TV about 10 years ago. To be honest, since CRAP and the lyrics they spew became the accepted music of the times, I quit keeping up - except with Dido. That's a whole different love affair. I saw Dylan, in Atlanta, in 1965 - after he turned electric. I've seen The Romeros, The Who, Edgar Winter, ARS, J Giles, ZZ Top, Siouxsie and the Banshees, Billy Joel, NIN, Primus, and many more - and I was at Woodstock '94 - but I can't leave out Leon Russell in 1985 - in a small club. Now, he IS one of the greatest. OK. So, I'm with so many of the commenters. Nickelback? Clean cut, nice looking dudes. They put out a nice catchy sound. What's wrong with that? Now, I have to admit that I watch a lot of videos. In fact, my rig is a triple-monitor, 2-nVidia cards, oldie but a goodie, I built her, Asus Rampage III Formula - ROG Gaming motherboard, Intel i7-960 processor - and I don't game. I do watch a lot of videos, though. What? I'm old. Not dead. Back to Nickelback. You might want to check your Mr. Richard at the door if you're watching in mixed company or with a bunch of dudes. Well, if you're into public displays of your manhood - especially, in front of your "bros", go for it. I don't judge - as long as it's consenting adults - ONLY. Anyway, I think Stacy's Mom - Rachael Hunter - rises to the top of my list, but Nickelback is HARD to BEAT. Now, in the spirit of full disclosure, when I watch Jenna Jamison, I just listen to the dialog. It's the story line that interests me.

My own theory is that Chad Kroeger spends a lot of on the Internet, sock-puppeting all the Nickelback hate. If it weren’t for their reputation as the worst band in history, Nickelback would be just another late-90s, early-2000s bands we all forgot about around the time Obama got elected, like Maroon 5 or Phish. Instead, people are still talking about them, listening to their music, and watching their videos. Kroeger is an adequate musician but he may be the most talented marketer since PT Barnum.
I really don't get the negativity around Nickelback. I saw them in concert in Stockholm and it was easily one of the best concerts I went to in 2016. Good on soundtracks and better live !

To those that read the comments that dont understand the hate...imagine listening to the radio and hearing nickleback songs 3 to 5 times an hour for 8 hours a day for months or a few years. It literally became torture because of how good the songs were, they were constantly played. Different era of how music was listened to. And changing the station wouldn't help because they were considered both rock and pop. Every store playing music would also be playing one of their songs..overplayed...that's where the hate began. Think ppl who would listen to the songs again after years wouldn't hate as much but relive memories..hope that helps understand how the hate began..but unless you lived it you're just not gonna fully understand the cringe.
That's not Nickelback's fault. Blame the radio stations for too much repetition, or listen to a station that doesn't do that. There's a dozen popular stations where I live and only a couple do "heavy rotation" (play a popular song many times a day). A couple of the other stations actually advertise they don't repeat a song during the day ("No Repeat Workday").

Smaller cities might get 1 station. And... AT THE TIME..blue tooth and most digital options weren't available yet, and cds, yes cds , weren't always allowed at workplaces. I don't hate them , simply stating where and how the hate for them began.

This song was on the radio all the time and brand new when I was graduating from HS. I used to go out with my friends basically every night and we had a blast doing crazy stuff back then. I took those times for granted and just couldn't wait to go off to college at the end of summer 2010. I never imagined a day where I wouldn't go out with my buds and be wild. Now 9 years later as I write this, I am sitting at my desk working an office job with neck pain and a regular sleep time of 10pm and a family to take care of. One of my friends from those days is dead and all the other live in different cities. The last decade just went by so fast and it only gets faster and I haven't seen any of those dudes in months, years for some. Point of this comment is to just enjoy your late teens/early twenties while you have them. Doesn't matter if you are broke or not where you want to be in life yet. You'll get there eventually and when you do you'll look back and miss those times when things didn't matter quite so much and you had all your friends you went to school with still around.

Dude is a decent leader. Gives his team clear objectives without being overly specific. Then he lets them handle it. May not agree perfectly with their results, but accepts that they accomplished the mission. Not afraid to dig into the work himself either.

I am not a Nickelback fan, but to those who appreciate their music, respect. Trends are strange, how or why Nickelback got to be such a hated band, I will never know. I have certainly said some things I now regret. It all boils down to the preference of the individual which we all should acknowledge and respect. Everyone talks about the hate they got. And. How underrated they were. I saw them live in lousville ky. Came out of that stadium near deaf. Eyebrows singed. And grinning ear to ear. One of the best shows ever.

I know everyone likes to hate on nickelback. But they have always had pretty solid alternative rock songs. Just another example of internet sheep following the hate.
Yeah, they have always been a decent group. They were never legendary, they were never bad. they were decent. They cranked out a lot of songs that play well on the radio, and enough other songs to fill plenty of albums with edgier stuff. I never got the hate either.

Dude is a decent leader. Gives his team clear objectives without being overly specific. Then he lets them handle it. May not agree perfectly with their results, but accepts that they accomplished the mission. Not afraid to dig into the work himself either.
