- We put on the finishing touches for the chicken coop, including burning, roofing and doors. Then we set it in place and the chickens get to enjoy their new home.

There's a kid named Erik Grankvist here on RUclips who built himself a log cabin, mostly by hand and mostly by himself, in the Swedish forest. He also did the charring technique on exposed wood, but he was taught by his grandpa, who had learned it from HIS grandpa. I'm not trying to drive traffic from your channel, but I know that you, Jacob, would especially appreciate his handiwork.

That is beautiful, from what I have seen so far, your home is going to be absolutely outstandingly beautiful.
Never mind the Japanese, we as Americans were doing this back in the fifties using acetylene-oxygen cutting torches, we burned decorative ceiling beams and many other decorative things, like porch swings, etc., we then brushed it lightly with stiff brushes to expose the nice grain, (dry, not wet) and while it was still hot, spread Butchers Wax melting it into the wood, it was a good preservative between the burnt wood and the wax !!!

The brush and water treatment turned out really great - so much better than leaving it black especially with the clear coat. I appreciate how you always explain what you are doing and the benefits and drawbacks of doing things in a certain manner. I must say there isn’t a project yet that hasn’t tuned out top notch!😍🇨🇦

I can always trust in your sense of beauty... I was disappointed at first at how black the coop turned out, although I understood the purpose of your action. But at the end it came out really great!
Ha Ha! Made me member my dads coop when i was bout 4 or 5 in the 50s. He built his with a regular door on the right and 2 doors sideways on the left. Worked nice cause he would just lift the bttm one to let them out or in and top one to collect eggs and use the regular one for entry. Made covering one side of coop pretty easy with just old doors..

On one of the other sites they ran a hose with nipples for water from a barrel for watering the hens outside
