I love how the way Ollie speaks he just says whatever he wants without hesitation whilst Josh is a bit more proper 🤣
*More reserved*
@@Adamkhan012 I wouldn’t say reserved lol I mean he does actually talk 😂
I think that is what makes them a great team. If they were both excitable and just let loose then it wouldn't be as good as having the balance. It's the ying/Yang! 😂😂❤❤
@@robertfraser9873 that’s a great way of explaining it 😂
He hates sugar coating
sharing with the camera crew makes the whole video more wholesome and real. Glad to see them also enjoy the food rather than just drooling over it.
Agree!!
Yes, this is what the whole country is doing. NOT.
Right!
Agree 100%
Why don't they make enough for everyone to try some? It's such a small amount for ALL of u.😋
That vinegar spray is actually what I've been missing all my life, without realising. You want the vinegar, but you don't want your entire batch of chips to go all soggy. So simple it surprises you no one thought of it before. Which is the hallmark of genius, I suppose.
They have it at the beach in Delaware USA
Been done for years in chip shops up and down the country so no genus at work here
Good point
@@CodeDebthank fuckin' god!
Alton Brown did it on his episode of Good Eats on fish and chips 20 or so years ago, it's hardly a new innovation.
"the country that conquered the world for spices and then didn't use any of them" Made me laugh so damn hard.
I was thinking the same thing!!
funny thing is the UK uses more spices than 90% of countries haha
@@davidz2690yet every other country still has better food
@@davidz2690other European countries maybe. Every other continent flows with spices other than the EU lmao. Except maybe Canada, but Canada doesn’t really have its own style of food.
The biggest fall off in culinary history.
You two are adorable! Almost 100% of the time, when trying the food initially, and it’s good, Josh closes his eyes and falls back in his chair, and Ollie looks at the ceiling. Love you two!❤️🇺🇸
How is it that when talking about the egg cups, Ollie missed the Holy Quail pun just staring him in the face? 🤣🤣
I let you all down.
@@jolly You could never let us down Ollie. 😊 😂 You always make the day better!

@@jolly I let you down & I’m sorry.
Every time Ollie says, “It’s like - ” you know a Michelin Star analogy is on the way.
Facts
Three stars!
Imagine Ollie being secretly a Michelin star critic😂😂😂
I really enjoy how they share the food with Duckie and Aiden, how perfectly Ollie describes every food in a matter-of-fact but metaphorical way, and how Josh savors every morsel of his food. More of this please!
U know what's weird? They both start out with their own food and then it's like they ran out of food, why didn't they fix enough for everyone to try some?
More and more I think its the chefs who just want to show off their stuff to people who will honestly appreciate it.
Yeah, real people who will let their faces show you the joy they're experiencing at the food you've crafted. Instead of some pretentious rubbish that some snobs dribble out, thinking they must seem smart
I think Josh is quite stuck up and belittles Ollie a lot of the time. I think Ollie is hilarious and the guests seem to gravitate more to him too x
@@beckyhemberger1526you know they’re just joking, right?? I’ve never heard Josh belittle him. Calling him an idiot is more a term of endearment
But yeah but they need to temper their reactions. I've seen them react exactly the same way after reading taco bell and Popeyes. So you can't really tell if this is good or not. Not really compliments to the chef if the chef at Taco Bell got the same reaction.
No he isnt I think they make a fab pair I love watching them@@beckyhemberger1526
I feel high class watching this
I wish people would stop slamming English cooking. I was in England in 1978 and still dream of the wonderful foods I ate there.
English breakfast sausage, napoleons, sultans loaf, cinder toffee, beans on toast (seriously!), incredible baked goods, and huge slabs of cod wrapped in newspaper with chips and all dowsed in malt vinegar.
Gourmet? Maybe not. But delicious? Absolutely.
I mean, Napoleons are French....
@@LyndseyHamen But the bakery I went to perfected them.
If you like the food from 1978, you'd be amazed how good it is today.
i love eating my mediocre food and then watching josh and ollie eat the finest things. makes me feel like im eating good food too LOL
hahaha same here😂😂
this is why i watch BBQ masters when I have a salad..
I just ate instant noodles, we're in the same boat 😂
You are probably eating the food that these two are traveling across the globe to try. Be happy. Gobble Up.
It's actually cheaper than you might expect. Think the Fish and Chips is like £29.
You two young men bring so much laughter out of this 52 year old American Mom. These videos are brilliant, comedic genius. What sweet souls. The food looks delicious as well. It’s always a wonderful journey.

Besides This !! British Food is still Awful 😂👎🇬🇧😞
@Mickcotton, there are lots of good British dishes
lol, this isn’t your standard British food!
The amount of puns and jokes Ollie had in this episode is amazing. I couldn't stop laughing with Josh 😂
“That conquered the world for spices but didn’t use any of them” lmaooo omg funniest thing josh has said!
Long standing joke about Brits and their cooking. Heard it way back in the 80s as a kid from my great aunt who came home (to the US) from France with my great uncle after WW2
I don't know anyone who is not into spices, went to Canada to live for a while and their food was bland.
@@SilvaDreams It’s an over used phrase. And WW2 was hardly a good measure of British food. Our tradition is more for herbs than out and out spice, they don’t use a lot of hot spices in French food either (maybe more in the south) and no one denigrates that. Like the Scandinavian countries smoking and pickling is used too, that’s not bland. You get things like clove and nutmeg in sweet things and we have always used pickles, relishes and sauces to add interest to simple dishes, Worcester Sauce, Gentleman’s relish, piccalilli. A lot of those ingredients came via India and the far east so not true to say we never used them.
I caught that, too.
Good line.
@@michaelayling8855 Canada is a bit of an oddball, old French colony so they speak French but also very much British.
Can't say all their food is bland though.
Can we get a compilation of all the times Josh said, “That’s the best ______ I’ve ever had!” 😆
Yeahh that's a great idea 😂
That would easily be a 10 or 20 minute video, if they're ever short for ideas
His enthusiasm is so endearing

Oh Ollie, we’re dying over here 😂😂😂
I really like the part of when josh and olly sharing they food with videographer crews. Sharing is caring, right? 🤗
That 13 year old boy on their team was blown away by the food!
Josh always wants to share first.
You two are brilliant! I discovered you because of Ellen, I work at the fat duck and it was soooo lovely to see you two appreciating and loving the food ❤ this is why we-chefs are doing it! For that kind of enjoyment ❤
Ellen as in Ellen degeneres??? Where? When? I tried googling it and nothing came up
Ollie always had the best face when something doesn't suit his taste 😂
I read this just as he made a face😂😂
probably chocolate wine had too much taste, if this would be bland ollie would love it.
Bares lower teeth, flutters eyelids
You can always trust him to give his honest opinion about the food, he can't help it 😂
His face never hide it even if he wants to 😂
I love that Ollie wasn't fake despite that the Michelin restaurant invited them! Plus his face of confusion and disgust at the wine chocolate slush was hilaaaarious!!!
💯 that's Ollie!
Food wise, this might be one of my fav Jolly episodes in a LONG time. These guys be sippin' on cups of crab espresso like kings 😂
For me, it was the superbowl snacks episode. When they dipped that brisket slider into the queso, that's the most jealous I've ever been
Hello, Chaps! Texas here, Thank you for taking me along with you on a trip that I know that I will never get to take myself. I am, right new, searching Google for a thrice fried French fry somewhere in Houston! Wish me well
Yhis is one of those times that I'm really envious of Josh and ONLY and the delicious-looking food they're eating!
We need someone here in the States who wants to do fish and chips as well as they do it in the UK!
Josh’s every comment is laced with gratitude and appreciation, even when he doesn’t care for how something tastes, he’s always kind about it. Kudos to you, Josh!
This statement is so true! Josh is very aware of the feeling of others, and is more concerned about that over going for a punchline. Surprised I don't see a comment of this nature on every video
RUclips is also his livelihood so obviously he knows how to conduct himself
Agreed, he’s the prefect English dom top, i mean gentleman 😝
@@Silverwing_99 you're talking about a real person here dude; get a grip
aka fake.
That's a crazy etymology for "devils on horseback"! The most likely explanation is that they were invented in the 1880's as an alternative to "angels on horseback" (oysters wrapped in bacon); since they were drenched with cayenne papper they were called "devilish".
I have to wonder how many people leave the restaurant believing that story, though.
Oysters wrapped in bacon sounds awful D:
@@theshiftybloke4672 Sounds fantastic to me! Partially cooked smoky bacon wrapped around a shucked oyster, skewered, grilled and dowsed with lime juice... yum!
@@bernmahan1162 to be honest I have a bias against the look of an oyster and dare not try it xD

I laughed so hard at it😂😂😂
These two are actually tremendous salesmen. You can almost taste the food as they move through the clip!
I looked the place up online. It's not cheap, but it's a fraction of what I expected prices to be. You can get a scotch egg with a side of the triple cooked chips, and a beer to wash it down for 24 pounds. as far as michelin stars go, that's not too bad.
for that kind of service and food that is amazing!
@eesafredericks2122 yeah the last time I went to a Michelin star restaurant my meal was like 220 USD lol
The idea of getting a really solid pub dinner from chefs at the top of their game for like.. beer money is great
Just did the same... fascinating!
That would be well worth it because they might be the best chips you've ever had in your life.
Tom Kerridge charges @ Harrods £37.00... and no pint either.
I love the fact that ollie don't hold back, doesn't matter if it's a top end place, if he don't like it he says he don't like it. So many would just give platidues while hating it.
*platitudes 😉
As a foodie myself I am sitting here, watching AND listening to this, and my mouth starts to salivate to the point of almost drooling. The crispy crunch of the breads are what sound engineers are looking for, trying to get them perfect, and here you are, effortlessly snacking away and creating THE perfect sound "bites" imaginable. 😂🤯🤤
What the feck is a foodie exactly? We all eat food and we all like good food so what makes someone a foodie? How and when did certain people try to elevate themselves above others for feckin eating? I personally call myself a breathy, I just love breathing more than the low life's.
@@Ade85 thats why you're still alive brother. doin a damn good job
Thank you for sharing. It completely changed my opinion of UK's food. My sister and her husband lived in Essex, while they were used to Mexican gastronomy. They weren't a fan of UK's food, while traveling around. I have also read unfavorable comments about the food.
But after seeing this episode, I subscribed and I have watched now a few of your videos. Your approach to tasting and presenting food is amusing. Your gestures of approval or disapproval are hilarious 😂😂😂 and you have totally shown that UK cuisine can be exquisite. I am not a fan of organ meat, but the rest looked great.
Keep up with the good work 🍀
Re-watching this video after the genius Heston Blumenthal himself guided Jolly through his art!👏🥰
For someone who is not a big fan of seafood. The difference between seafood and what a proper Chef can do with Seafood is a world of difference. It’s a foodgroup on its own.
Such an understatement! I think people who don't like certain foods just never had them cooked or served in a way that agreed with them. 😉
If you don't like it then it's usually the fault of the cook, there are so many ways to prepare and cook any ingredient . Seafood fresh and cared for from the sea to the plate is one of life's pleasures for sure .
@@ravenfeader i agree with both of you but there is absolute difference between a good chef and a michelin chef.
I’ve been a to a few michelin star restaurants in the netherlands and there flavors profiles are amazing even compared to restaurants just below michelin quality.
@dymff9533 With all due respect, there are effin homemakers that can cook a Michelin star chef meal, and that's where most, if not all, Michelin star chefs learned it.
@@iDymffNah home cooking definitely better
I love when Josh and Ollie go to fancy restaurants. Ollie’s irreverence of the food and setting is hilarious and balances Josh’s ecstasy while he is eating the food. 🤣🤣🤣🤣
I love that they’re diversifying their Fish and Chips videos. It’s nice to see them be WFH Dark Academia but in an actual restaurant outdoors.
WFH Dark Academia :)) that's an accurate description of their Michelin Star restaurants reviews tbh
Y’all bring so much joy. Thank you! There’s something so special about watching the two of you on screen.
So this is my first couple videos I’m watching of these two. And they have just the right amount of comedic timing and English properness. Hahah love it. The reactions are the best. Keep em coming.
Dire need of a friend like Ollie in life. Man he's just such a fun & warm guy making everyone around ugly laugh.
I guess I can happily say I've been watching y'all for years! Just shy of when y'all just started. The beauty...the wonder...the excitement just gets better and better. You both have come soooooo far through thick and thin....and persevered. You've changed many peoples lives without knowing them and knowing them. I truly look forward to all the videos to come and your life journey's. If you stay true to God, your family, your morals/ethics, the people who work hard for you and viewing audience.... everything will come back infinity fold. Can't wait for your new set. May God continue to bless you and your families in body, mind and spirit 🙏❤️
I adore how Jolly is slowing evolving to be a food show. I'm here for every second of it. Also Josh's reactions to food is everything. If I were in the kitchen cooking and got this kind of reaction, It would made my year lols.
Ollie’s reaction tells me what he thinks before he actually tells us!!! ❤❤❤
I'm not sure you really appreciated how much work goes into a Scotch egg that is perfectly cooked. The timing in the multiple cooking sessions is so hard to nail. No runny white and the yolk being runny is like a truly great accomplishment.
It is like doing a double flip which is an accomplishment on it's own then catching the bar and doing a triple spin and nailing a landing.
Love how josh looks fancy and dapper and Ollie looks like an old school professor
I just love Ollie's reaction to the dessert! I bet all of the restaurants are just scared to provoque that face! Amazing videos guys, you really cheer a lot of us up with your videos and sincere and realistic friendship that is palpable on screen!
Upon Josh mentioning the quaking pudding looked like a pokemon, I suddenly imagined Ollie do the "Quaking Pudding! I choose you!" scene in my head and it's hilariously entertaining!
The pun game was on point! Lol That food looked divine! I love when I see people like myself that truly savor and enjoy food…the eyes rolling back in the head is a giveaway. 😂
Thats on the UK bucket list :) I love the atmosphere in small pubs and while I bet this one is a little more upscale than the place we had a 3 pound lunch at in 2010, the character of the buildings all tell wonderful tales. Creaky floors, dodgy doors, small entryways (being short, I dont have to duck). And then theres the locals that tend to come together for a pint or chat. Love it.
Just love how honest Ollie talks and we never know what’s going to come out a joy to watch you two
LMAO “It’s like if Beethoven did a techno track!”
Never change Ollie-😂
I read this right after he said it! 😂
Ollie’s facial expressions are EVERYTHING!! 😂
This is my first time watching you guys, but I love the chemistry you have and the phrasing of everything. The passion for the food really shows and the production quality is superb. (Also love how you feed your crew too as you also want to share the amazing experience with others)
Love the fact that you guys always share food with the camera crew, that’s sweet!
I can't stop laughing at Josh's face. He looks high whenever he takes the first bite of everything. He rolls his eyes up as if he's going to pass out. Sorry Josh!😂
He's having foodgasms 😂
lol was just thinking this, by the 3rd appetizer (devils on horseback) his eyelids were getting a little droopy
In the northern province of The Netherlands (Groningen) we have something similar to Scotch egg called: eierbal (egg ball). It's basically the same, but in this case the egg is wrapped in ragout, seasoned with curry spices. The eierbal is much creamier. It's my favourite deep-fried snack, really worth a try!
That fish and chips looks absolutely spectacular. It is elevated, very inventive and sciency in the trademark style of Heston but without seeming pretentious or doing away with the charm of the meal in its traditional and simple form. I bet that was fantastic. Heston is truly one of the world's most exciting chefs and has remarkably stayed relevant for so many years. I still remember in vivid detail dining at Dinner by Heston in Knightsbridge (2 michelin stars) about 7 years ago.
We went there for my birthday yesterday and we had pretty much what you guys tried in the video, it was incredible! The staff was the nicest I've ever experienced in a restaurant. Thanks for putting me onto this place.
Been binging on Jolly videos since the last two weeks straight, so much so that I don't watch any other videos in RUclips, becauss that will ruin my RUclips algorithm. Such fun videos, from 6 years ago to till date. You guys are such a joy to watch. Much love from India 🇮🇳 ♥️
Ollie should never play poker. His true feelings are always written all over his face, and I love every minute of it. LOL!
OMG - I'm dying! I have never heard the phrase, ". . . conquered the world for spices but refuses to use any . . ." and no phrase explains their cuisine better! LMAO!!

The skills and patience of the chef are not to be underestimated but Britain seriously needs to up their taste palette and cooking game as well. After enjoying the scotch egg (dimer devil) in Kolkatta full of subtle spices the only thing left to appreciate here is aesthetics. Presentation is very good.
