    I don't think in all my 38 years, I've lived more than five miles from the Mississippi. Grew up on it, learned to swim in it, and plan to grow old on it. I'm .04 miles away now and literally crossed it 4 times today (gas I cheaper on the Missouri side, lol)

    The documentary is incorrect at 37:30 when they state that the Mississippi River levees broke and caused the flooding of New Orleans during hurricane Katrina. The Lake Ponchartrain levees failed while the Mississippi River levees held strong and did not break.

    Also called 'Old Muddy"... also want to say that slavery is a stain on American history, but it has to be understood that it was a product of the era. Thank GOD that era is over.

    The voice actor portraying Mark Twain is bad. He sounds like a hoity-toity Englishman. Mark Twain would have had an American, mid-western accent.

    • @Odin029
      @Odin029 5 лет назад +1

      Accents migrate and change over time. I doubt Mark Twain would have sounded exactly the same as a modern resident of northern Missouri, but I don't think the guy was voice acting anyway, just reading quotes

    The destruction of the River always has saddened me. I wish they would release it. We should learn to live with it's character rather than chain it like we have.
    I always thought DeSoto got what he deserved. He was not a good person. He should not have a bridge named for him.
