In this video we will discuss the basic functions of an HDMI port with your TV and also what you can do to fix it if it is not working properly. Here is what a main board looks like on our Samsung thirty two inch LCD TV.
As we look at a closeup you can see we have highlighted the two HDMI ports. Different TVs will have different amounts of HDMI ports. These ports are responsible for taking in audio and video through an HDMI cable from a source such as a blu-ray player, cable box, satellite box or gaming system amongst others. If you are having trouble receiving an image, video or audio from your HDMI port, you can take the source video and test it on a different HDMI port. For example if HDMI port one is not working properly, then you can take the cable and test it in HDMI port two to see if it is working correctly. If the source video works correctly in HDMI port two, but still does not work correctly in HDMI port one, then you know that you have a problem with HDMI port one.
If your HDMI port is bad, it is recommended that you should replace the main board in your TV. You can find your main board part number and then search that number on our website www.shopjimmy.com or you can find your TV model number and then find replacement main boards on our website. If searching by TV model number, you will want to be sure and match the part number on your current main board with the replacement main board on the website.

I came across this video when I was doing one final search before giving up on my TV. HDMI 1 would get video and no audio, HDMI 2 got nothing. Different input devices, cables, updates to the tv, factory reset, etc all failed. Samsung customer service told me I would have to either take it in or send it to them to be repaired. I didn't want that expense for a fairly inexpensive TV, so I was just going to get a new one. After this video I went to the website (mostly to see how ridiculous the price was on a main board). Main board was super inexpensive, got to me the same week, and took all of 5 minutes to put it in my TV and it's back to working flawlessly. Thanks to ShopJimmy, for sure.
At first I was like ahhh yeah that looks a lot like my tv I have taken a part! This guy will show how to fix it!......His solution, try a different HDMI port. Wow, I wish I thought of that before opening up the tv. I was doing it all wrong
Bad weather here last night. My theater system went off three times and came back on ok. Woke up this morning and had no image but did have sound. Took the HDMI Cable out of my projector and placed back in. This worked. Thanks for the video.

Ok I have a 50 in Sanyo tv I’m not sure exactly what year or model but I’ve been trying to get my ps4 to connect but I get no single and when I reset my ps4 the screen just goes black like it wants to work but no picture ever hdmi port does the same thing can you give me any ideas

Geez! I never would have thought to have such a difficult troubleshooting guide by switching the hdmi cable from one port to another!!! I guess this works for light bulbs that don't come on as well? I can plug a different bulb into that same lamp to find out if it's the bulb or the lamp??? I'm sooooooo glad I found this video! Now I can spend a grand on a main board instead of buying another TV for cheaper than the part is!!! This dude is trying to just sell shit! I'm a service tech for commercial kitchen equipment and we have a saying people like Jimmy! He's NOT a technician, he's a parts changer!

Hello, I have some trouble with my HDMI port. My TV Panasonic Viera Plasma Model TH-42PD60X. TV has only one HDMI port and It was during a PowerOut that failed. Once the power came back I had to switch to RCA. My question is Do I have to change the mainboard or is there a spare part for this model? Thanks
If that is the solution to the question, then I most certainly wouldn't expect anyone who asked it - and was happy with that answer, to be trusted to take the back off a television set!!
Okay here's the issue and question. HDMI worked well in one TV "Seiki" sourced from the PC. But the same cable and feed going into 2 other different other TV's "RCA's" did not fully work. The desk top picture came up with the lower tool bar but not any of the icons of programs or the mouse. The audio did come through. The PC'S desk monitor functioned with no problem.
Any thoughts?

Hahaha nice job in it and explaining it my problem is whenever I plug into my HDMI 1 or 2 into my TV. They both say no signal and it ain't my DVD that's the problem I plugged it into my other tv. And it came up right away it's just the other TV doesn't run on an outlet and I'm not traveling right now. I have recently purchased a FireTV from Croma. I have connected a Sony DVD player, a cable TV set top box and a internet video set top box to the 3 HDMI ports in the TV.
2 ports are working fine. The third one only picture shows but I am not getting audio. It is the Sony DVD player.
What could be the reason?

hi there, I have a Samsung UE46C7700 samsung 3dTV,(these were one of the first that came out in 2010 all hdmi ports do not work and I tried everything from reset etc etc. I am not sure what the Model is in the USA, but I was wondering of you had the main board in stock. thanks
Older type Changhong TV will play Netflix with PC but the computer keeps freezing and has to be restarted. This does not happen when the computer is not connected to the TV via the HDMI cord. Tried the Macbook Air. There is no picture on the screen at all, just a mishmash of colours. I have tried resetting the TV and a few other fixes to no avail.

Hello, i like your videos. I wanted to ask a quick question. I recently had a problem with my Toshiba 42AV635D, which i cant get any signal from any of my 4 HDMI inputs. When after couple of TV resets, I'm now sure the problem isn't with the software in any kind(no upgrade ever implemented) but with the hardware it self. I wanted to know how can i pinpoint if the problem is with the MainCard or with the Little built in box which connects all HDMI's to it, in order for me to purchase that exact part. Is there any way i pinpoint where is the problem ? Thanks alot.
Well I diagnosed the problem correctly by trying both ports on my tv and only 1 workd. It sucks you have to replace the entire mainboard because of it. Will I lose all my settings when it's replaced?
Hi @shopjimmy.com , i Have a Mitsubishi TV ( LT-52249 serial #:106919) that its HDMI ports don't work , I was told to change the mainboard, i bought this part twice ! from diffrent eBay sellers, both claimed that nothing is wrong with theri part, but both didnt evenn give me picture when i installed them, i had to put the original board back in both cases, my TV works perfectly, picture and sound are crisp ! is there anything i did wrong? or just the parts i bought was defected? please help me out

I just picked up a Samsung HLR5678WX/XAA TV. Both hdmi ports say they won’t function in this mode. Idk what that means. I’ve tried the different modes in the video settings. I’m confused. The picture is great, so I want to figure it out
Hey man this may be a stupid question but I've replaced a ps5 hdmi port twice and my TV identifies the signal as coming from a ps5 but there's no signal or error saying no signal. The console boots normally and there are no bridges between pins or loose pins. There's no torn pads or traces. Is it possible to be duped by the seller and the ports are bogus as far as being able to carry a video signal. There was no underlying issue as I do repairs for fun and have professional gear and I've replaced them on other devices before. I'm the only person who has ever been in it and the issue was caused by me stepping on the cable to begin with and the port worked for a long time after but I knew I'd have to replace it someday. I don't care if it ever works again but would buying a tester help or scoping the pads with the port taken out under magnification. I plan on giving it to a friend's kid as a surprise because they can't afford one and don't want to give up on it and I can't scope it while it's open and all voltage rails and such work and there are no shorts anywhere or hot spot under infrared. I'm tempted to solder test wires to the pads and check for an ntsc video signal with my scope. I've never read the hdmi 2.1 spec my c9 sees 2 ps5s connected when the broken one is plugged in.
I think I just answered my own question. I bought a fancy new mso for a reason I guess haha.

hi, i have questions about my LG TV LED 42LE5500 ERROR HDMI AND ANTENA/AIR
we recently had lightening strike near our house and comcast stated that the hdmi s were fried due to it on three tvs... none of the ports work now. we can still see the menu screen on the tvs when we try to change the input, but no cable or xbox or blue ray qork on the ports. ..would we still change the boards for these tvsas shown in this video

Wd 73833. All HDMI ports not recognizing signal. I purchased another board from local t.v repair shop. It worked , until I turned off the set ,and turned it back on the next day. Unplugged from one port . And it worked on the other open port. So i watched mu cowboys game 2day. After the game I decided 2 test , by turning off t.v and back on. Nothing snow screen. Unplugged and went to third port same snow screen. FYI... I had the dreaded green blinking lite of death. Bought a new board replaced ot. Tv powers up great. Just need hdmi fixed. Any ideas

I have an older Panasonic 42 in plasma tv. When I got the tv the hdmi port doesn't work properly it only shows a scrambled picture, when I hook the same hdmi chord and cable box to my other hp tv, it works fine. I've opened the tv up, located, and removed the board that the hdmi port is on but it's a seperated board then the main board. do you recommend just replacing that board or replacing both the main and alternate board?

I was having flickering video and crackling audio with my gaming laptop connected to the HDMI port on my Samsung 55" 1080p HD SmartTV! All I did was...
1. Use 91% proof rubbing alcohol.
2. Use a double folded paper towel.
3. Wet a small area of the paper towel with the rubbing alcohol.
4. Clean the connectors really well and blow on the connectors to dry them.
5. Blow into the HDMI ports on my laptop and TV to get rid of any dust that may have gotten trapped inside.
6. Reconnected my laptop and TV.
So far so good! No flickering video or crackling audio! :)

What if both ports don't work? Is there such a thing as an older HDMI tech that doesn't work with newer HDMI sources? I don't have an older HDMI source to test this. I am aware of HDMI 1.0, vs 2.0 cables, but I am using 1.0 cables. Am I missing something, or is it that both of my HDMI ports are just bad?

When the hdmi is connected, the tv screen flashes momentarily with the screen where you would push the botton to play and then turns dark. Both hdmi ports same result.

Hi, I've just got a LG 50PZ550T and initially when you turned it on it displayed HDMI then it would say 'No signal for current input. Try other available inputs'. The remote stops working too then it goes to the screensaver. Then when i touched the touch buttons on the front the tv would shut down.I tried HDMI 1,2, 3, PC and still the same nothing. So I took the main board out, checked it visually then put it back in. Now the tv does the same sometimes or just has a dark grey screen, as though the panel has lit up but nothing is there. However I plugged in a USB and it comes up reading then a visual menu pops up asking to use the remote to select video, music etc. But the remote does not work and the touch buttons on the tv don't work too. So I looked the touch button board and saw a 3.3v test point. I used a multimeter and it read zero. Is the main board faulty? Does the main board power the touch keypad panel with the 3.3v? The Power board Va and Vs read good. Any help would be great, thanks.

I have a Samsung un46h6201 with intermittent no signal problems with HDMI1. It's under warranty and a tech replaced the main board, but the problem still occurs. The problem is that after being off for a while (more than 5 minutes) turning the TV and device on causes no signal. I can repeat this several times when it happens, but if I unplug the HDMI cable and plug it back in, the problem is solved. This happens with multiple HDMI cables and doesn't happen on HDMI2. Le me know if you have any thoughts? Since we replaced hardware, I'm starting to think it's a software issue.

Our Sony Bravia has no single sometimes when it's first turned on. Still have sound, have to unplug the hdmi 1 cable and plug it back in to get a picture. Or sometimes we turn it on and it's fine then turn it off and on later and no single. We have a DVR box through our cable company.

Try resetting the tv. I went online and found a weird way to Reset Tv's, and ALL HDMI ports came Back.... Reset is diff for most tv's of course, but this was really odd, like-- unplug tv, then hold power button for 10 mins, stuff like that. but it worked, so try your owners manuals or online for each tv brand. and Good Luck, Have a Great Day.
