Sweet. I had to recap my Samsung LCD power board as it kept switching itself off lol. Gonna have to do this too soon as the HDMI ports are getting annoyingly flaky. Just not looking forward to trying to hang it on the wall on my own again1 Oh well, 10 years is not bad in any event. Good work.
I have a different Samsung HDTV with both of its HDMI ports unusable, a month older than yours (mfg date: April '06). So far I've been using various HDMI-to-component or VGA converters. Although I understand why my HDMI's are not working due to strain, I neither have the soldering tools nor skill to do this with my unit. I'm more inclined to purchase a replacement mainboard if I have to open it up at all. At least it's cheaper than buying a new TV altogether

It depends on your experience soldering. If you've never soldered electronics before, this may not be the project to start with. On the other hand, if both ports are bad and the TV isn't really working anymore you probably don't have much to lose by trying. You could always fond some junk piece of electronics and practice soldering on that before tackling your TV.
Very helpful. However, while it looks like I have a similar issue with my Samsung TV model UN46EH5000F where the HDMI Port 1 has crapped out (flashing picture that turns on then off to a black screen), I neither possess a soldering iron nor the knowledge to use one in this case.
Well at least you now know what is involved in the repair so if you decide to take your set to a repair shop you won't get bamboozled into paying for all sorts of parts you don't need. A skilled tech should take about an hour or so to do this repair.

One of my other TV .. one day I accidentally touch the cable and like you said , waggle the connector a bit and screen black out and back on when I waggle it again ... But then after I plug in tight again ..It was fine .. since then whenever I plug in HDMI I worry that I will damage the connector or make it losen up from the connection board... And 6ou know sometimes you have to juggle around the cables behind and when you lift the cables .You will see the connector point kind of moving a bit...But once the HDMI has plug in properly and tight... It shouldn't be any problem because it should be well fitted in the connector right? Hope you can answer me and thanks
I had recorded that but due to bad camera angles all you could see we're my hand and the soldering wand so I left that bit out. I considered scrapping the whole video but figured something was better than nothing in this case.

What do you know I happened to be looking for info on Blown HDMI Ports on TV And so it happens you have same TV as I Samsung plasma exact frame and all I bought it in 2006 exactly. I love my TV,beatiful frame, stand holds it up in the middle unlike the flimsy frames and legs you now see out there,and even if its not 4k HDR ETC. It still nice My problem is It does not respond to fire stick, and I've tried everything to no avail, my son in law tells me that its probably the HDMI Ports in back of TV If I can't fix it I'll just get rid of fire stick bc My TV is fine, It's almost 15 years old
I have a similar issue with a receiver. the hdmi port pins have come loose from circuit. I did not see the tools you used. Here is the pins on mine. could you recomend a tool for this? Electronice repair shops around here just want to be parts changers and not repair men. wouldn't be to much of an issue but it's the dang hdmi out so i got no vid signal. The tool was about $150 I think but I tinker with electronics as a hobby. If you are considering buying one for just this reapir its probably not worth it for you. You may be able to achieve the same thing by using a heat gun and fashioning a small nozzle for it to direct the airflow where you need it. Heat guns are probably available for under $50. Whichever way you go be sure you take your time as you can really make a mess of things if you aren't experienced with this kind of work. Good Luck!
Never solder vertically, remove the board from the TV and solder it horizontally so that SMD parts don't fall off if their connections accidentally melted. You never know what SMD's might have been on the back side of that board either. Laying horizontal even if underneath surface tension would hold them on, but vertically it could have been a disaster. Also you can buy an HDMI switch box for $5 to split the working port you have into 3 or more inputs.
I have the same issue with a Samsung TV what I did was I have the HDMI cord plugged in pulled up with a piece of tape held up in the upwards position being plugged in

He saved $800 by doing nothing basically. Blew some heat onto some solder. I've found most repairs are of this nature....just a loose $2 part on a $1000 item.

You don't show soldering the top pins on the socket. Only the grounds. Could you please explain, as those pins were loose also.
I'd have to watch this back to see what I showed in the video but I know I reflowed all of the pins.
