  • The Rook yard is just outside of Pittsburgh PA. and is a Wheeling and Lake Erie Yard.
    W&LE is the largest Ohio-based railroad and among the largest regional railroads in the country. W&LE is headquartered in Brewster Ohio. Their service area includes 840 miles of track operating in Ohio, Pennsylvania, West Virginia and Maryland.

      Very welcome T4, all of W&LE's equipment is very well maintained. I don't think I've ever seen an out of shape loco they own unless they just aquired it, and havnt got to polish it up yet.

      @@TriGogglin Yes I did Love It. I was up around Steubenvilles Yard a while back and seen one going up the Tracks. I should have pulled over and videoed it. It was the Black High Hood that had WLE on its sides.

    Great video, I from Belle Vernon and I see W&LE all the time. They seem to mainly haul tankers, not sure exactly what, there's red flammable placards but I can't make out the UN number. I guess they are picking these cuts of tankers up at the CSX yard in Connellsville, don't know where they go from there. Glad I found your channel, Dave recommended it👍🏼😎🇺🇸

      Thank you Limo, Dave's got a great channel. Appreciate you watching. I love W&LE but they are to far from me to catch very often. I've been to their yard in Brewster Ohio but its so isolated its hard to catch them there. Definitely depends on where you catch them at to see there freight. One place all tankers, next place ill see all hoppers then next mixed freight, so they definitely have their dedicated runs.

    That W&LE black and orange paint scheme is sharp! It’s on my list of HO engines I want to get. This railroad has a very interesting history.

      No sir not a stupid question. Its fir the railroad employees that gave their life during the war. So probably fitting its next to the yard.

      OH, knowing you you'll get him, their headquarters is in Brewster Ohio, you can catch them up around upper Sandusky and Nevada Ohio.

    Must be some old footage, because the 6312 has been re-numbered and the 3102 hasn't seen the mainlines for a while.

      Yeah this was posted over a year ago.. but I'm glad you found it, and told me this information. I'm not close enough to WL&E to see changes. I have a hard time catching any.. Appreciate you watching

    Where do the tracks going east out of rook yard go to ?

      Hello Stan, as far as I know they run east just a little towards Pittsburgh, when it gets close to the river the tracks turn south and can go as far as Hagerstown Maryland. I'll have to look more into that. Probably some great railfanning spots down thru there, appreciate you watching

      Hello John, that green and silver loco is an ex CITX loco that is now owned by wheeling and lake erie. I'm not sure where CITX operates out of so I'll have to Google it. Or you can. Just look up CITX railroad.. appreciate you watching
