@Retro_Afterglow yeah you would take those cars and get your ass whooped by a properly built and tune boat of a 5gen I promise you.that much. You’re definitely in titled to your opinion as I am to mine my car has over 100000 miles on it and it doesn’t rattle and the leather interior is definitely not a cheap touch. So if you knew anything about a 5th gen they are definitely not slow that 5th gen was going against built cars and it was stock and they were not putting buses on it. So to me your reply is based in bias opinion and not fact sir
They sure are getting popular lately. There's a lot of parts available, and an LS just slides right in. GM offers LS Crates, and wiring harnesses ready to go. I think a T56 fits without changing the transmission tunnel. Done right they look fantastic.
What up Buckwheat! Yeah I used to work at a scrapyard and while I was fixing a rag tag PT Loser ahem I mean "Cruiser", a guy drove in an 88 iroc. Ttops, 5.7, and loaded. I watched the guy get paid and leave. Dude, my boss had a guy coming to crush the car the next day cuz he didn't want to do anything with it. I literally ran in front of the big Volvo Front loader and stopped the guy from picking her up and bought the car from my boss. Next day, I drove the car 16 miles from my job to home with her stalling out at idle in gear. I looked like a jackass. Ttops off, Def Leppard cassette barley audible, gravity defying worn out shocks, a leaking exhaust system but dude, I floored her. She had no balls on take off, found second and the ass nearly came completely around. Best fun I've ever had!
@@sunsetcustoms1521 I also have an 82' berlinetta. I've had it since new and like the owner it has seen better days but when the light is right you can still see that sleek silhouette hiding under the faded paint and rust. It is beautiful design.
Great vid. Nice to see some 3rd gens tearing up the streets. I have an 88 iroc. She's in the middle of a resto. Repairing some body rust now. Want to do a complete upgrade but will have to do it in stages. First stage is beefing up brakes and suspension and adding subframe connectors. Im not concerned with big hp numbers, I want to build a modest 300 hp tpi L98 iroc that can take a turn like a cts-v or an m5. I want to try autocross and figure this is a great car to start with.
Definitely will. Caught a snag and had to tear down my stand alone garage. Now waiting to build a new one and trying to finish my '63 galaxie and '99 suburban which are simpler jobs. I really want to take my time with the ROC cuz it's my first third gen and I'm in uncharted waters doing some of this stuff. I've repaired cars for years but never really modified or fabricated anything. Once the new garage goes up, the ROC will be inside and the resto will continue and I'll chronicle the entire build. Will be finishing up my t-top repair first then move onto addressing rest of body repairs and priming and lots and lots of sanding. Once a few minor body repairs are completed, I'll get to the brakes and fun yet outdated suspension. See what we can find in tubular control arms. I might be shooting a short intro video in a week to show the car in her current state and talk about what's going to be getting fixed and upgraded. If you want to check out a nice autocross third gen, check out spectro racing on RUclips. Look for Mo's Camaro Chimera. Nice little '92 RS that's going to be getting a beastly cts-v LSA!!!

Well I bet someone feels stupid for this comment lmao. Fact is these older model camaros were made better and to actually last. Weight in any performance car is a major factor, I'm pretty sure most of the negative comments are from new generation camaro owners who have either lost to an older gen camaro like this one or mad seeing an old car like this still perform as good.
its all about that power to weight.. got a 3300LB car vs a 3800LB car.. actually could be less, being engine swap cars the upgraded tubular front ends guys put in third gens save about 50 lbs, plus other modern upgrades.. could probably call it a 3200lb car.
It's about older cars did it better, the new Camaros have to line themselves to the hilt in luxury and technology, the older cars had FI computers that were outperformed by Gameboys, the HVAC system controls were just little levers with a knob to control fan speed! Dashboard glove box?? Don't need one!! Everything in an older Camaro can be replaced or swapped no problem, in fact it's one of the few cars people are willing to mess with the fuel injection on, since there's so many options for aftermarket intakes, and SBCs are CHEAP!
well that's good news for me... I have a 87 Z/28 wich needed a new suspension so it got an IROC suspension and rims and ZR rated tires, makes a huge difference handling having those thick low profile side walls. The biggest thing I noticed is the weight of the rear trunk, i know you can get a fiberglass one with a small rear window like the C5 zo6 had. but It'd be nice to see a full plexi glass option for the rear window.
Damn that 454 is just on a another planet with it. I have a 85 Z, 94 Z, 15 SS and love them all equally. We won’t talk about the 98 Slobra I bought just to get dusted by them all weekly.
