I love my ‘82 911 SC Coupe loaded. Yes, I’m a Boomer (barely) and an old lady, now. My story: I saw my first Porsche in the flesh in my hometown in the late 70’s. I remember it like it was yesterday. I said to my father (R.I.P.) and my brother, “Some day, I will own one of those.” My father and my brother laughed at me. In 1995, I got mine used after saving for 7 years. It wasn’t vintage, then, but it was so much fun to drive. I can tell you that driving the vintage ones is a physical experience that is really fun. Modern cars insulate you from the connection to the road and the machine. Having an oil-cooled, rear engine is its own experience. I have gone 145 in it around curves where I started to lose the back end. It is a most beautiful machine and well-constructed. I will be working on mine for most of next year to sell it in it’s full glory, because I am now so arthritic (early inset osteoarthritis) that it is difficult for me to drive a manual transmission. I need my knees replaced and my toes fused and more removal of thumb and wrist bones (left hand done). I try not to cry about the surgery and my beloved 911. It’s been my friend for 26 years-my other car( a GTI) I’ve had for 15 years. I can have this model to remember Mein Schmerz. Perhaps, after surgery, I can still drive it (I shouldn’t give up)? FYI, I’m a Yank and drive German cars. Love to my friends across the pond in the UK and Europe!
I got this model back in February and I absolutely love it. What's also worth noting that if you like mocs, there are building introductions to turn this baby not only into a Porsche 2021 turbo S but also a Lamborghini countash all from the pieces in this set.
That's the beautiful thing about LEGO... once it's yours, you can make whatever you want with it. If you want a Targa with a whale tail, just modify it until it makes you happy. Nobody is going to arrest you for not building the model exactly as it was intended.
@@mattelfuego3157 No, it was white. But one day in the thirties just before an important race they noticed that the Mercedes car was too heavy and didn't fit to the international regulations. They removed all the color just down to the bare aluminum to make it lighter and the famous "Silberpfeil" (silver arrow) was born.
I am pretty far from a "car guy" but this set is the first car to really perk my interest. Since I saw it assembled I have considered getting this and been looking at several other lego cars because this one looks so cool. Also, Im pretty sure this is the Cyberpunk 2077 car. I could easily be wrong due to my severe lack of car knowledge but Im like 90% sure.
0:24 No, since 2019 there are two every year. In 2019 there was the Ford Mustang and Harley Davidson. In 2020 there was the Fiat 500 and Ghostbusters Ecto 1.
I think it should have been interchangeable like the creator mustang. I’ll probably just build the turbo and not bother with the targa. Shame it can’t be changed easily
Welp, here it is. The closest Lego has gotten to make me buying one of their sports car models. I'm not really a fan of this line, I more like using some of their basic framework to build cars of my own, as I'm a big fan of Lamborghini, Bugatti, Maserati, McLaren, Alfa Romeo, and Lotus and not really a fan of Technic models, so I'll probably never get the cars I actually really want in this scale, but MAN I am a fan of the Porsche 911. The 911 is one of those timeless designs that will just make me fall in love with it over and over and over again. I've loved the 900 lines all the way back when I played with the old figure of Jazz from G1 Transformers in the Martini Racing livery based on the 935 Turbo. But as I got older, the 911 really stuck out in my heart, and the model appears to be based on either a 1978 or 1980 Porsche 911, which the 1980 Turbo just so happens to be one my favorite generation for the car, as it's tough to tell without the auxiliary lights flanking the front license plate (If they were inset I'd call it the 78, but if they were those really nice boxy lights I'd call it the 1980). But I love this car and I love this design, and I'm going to have to think long and hard on whether I'm going to drop the cash to bring this model home.
@@iflyrcmike I’m poor, buying a huge set like this requires like two months of saving... So if I’m going to go ahead and buy a Lego, I have to be sure it’s worth the purchase.
Just built mine. I don't understand why they didn't include all of the license plates twice. I would have liked to put the New York license plate on the front and back.
is there three black 2 by 6 plates? iam going to buy 2 sets, so maybe i could put them on the roof of my batmobile... or maybe i shouldby 3 sets, so i could build a widebody targa, maybe with white roof. i do not like the spoiler of the turbo IRL.
Lego claims that the new white isn't supposed to yellow as easily, but time will tell in the end. Only real solution is to keep it in the the box and never look at it ever!
Ok, but they got something very wrong. Porsches have a large central tachometer. Especially 911s. I built a targa turbo. Had to order 1.24 worth of parts to finish the engine lid with spoiler. Would it have killed profits to just include them?
I think the white's great, because none of the others are white, but lime green would've been an amazing color choice. I hope the next one is an American car.
I think that's fair probably more in the UK it's £120 and it's a solid build with a good amount of detail and it's technically a 2 in 1. I personsally prefer the Mustang the same price and the same qualities except for the 2 in 1 but you can argue that because it can be suped up.
I feel like the wheels could have been done a little better even though they do look great. For example silver drums like the ones used on the F40 (maybe a bit thinner) with black porsche style 5 spoke caps for the end of the axle. I’m still going to have to pick up this set soon though as i love the 911 turbo

The "european" license plate is a German one from Stuttgart (S). It is an old one because it doesn't have the EU badge on the left.
Lego should add the (D) + (J) prints to use the license plates properly
