One minor nitpick: they only give you one each of the New York and Japanese license plates, but both New York and Japan require both front and back plates; they should have included 2 each of these. Ultimately I chose to display it with the German plates anyway, so not a huge deal for me personally.

I love it how this car took the concept from the mustang and took it to a brilliant extreme
There's also storage for the New York and Tokyo plates in the front boot. Nice detail so they don't get lost if you have the German plates on

The Japanese plates are actually Gunma prefecture which is interesting. Maybe a designer is an Initial D fan?

Since the most fun you have with LEGO is building, I intend to rebuild mine between Targa and Turbo frequently (built it as a Targa first). Not to mention there are already quite a few amazing alt-build MOCs for it!
5:06 the oval tile has been introduced in the Lego Super Mario lineup
i got this kit for my birthday and loved building it! looks great next to the campervan and beetle, i built the turbo version but used the targa wheels as they looked nicer
I haven't got our bought any LEGO set since my childhood for more then 18 years. After all these Years finally I am able to surprise myself with LEGO "once again" :)
I bought this set as the first, this was my Christmas present to me. I just finished building the Targa variant, and I am in love with it. Loved every second of the building, amazing how many rotation and axis there are to build. A nice positive challenge.
After I'll re-build it to the Turbo, I will try to build Bricksgarage's Lamborghini Countach LC5000 MOC based on this 10295, I purchased that manual too. Your channel helped to rebuild my "passion" for LEGO :)
Price , the reason for making parts in specific colors is to ramp up the pieces used to lower overall piece cost. Hidden pieces are often random color depending on projects that would otherwise over saturate certain colors and under demand others.

I just got this set on 2022. I went for Turbo version which look more stunning. This set look even more stunning at top of Car Transporter together with Ford Mustang.

I built a targa turbo. It required 1.04 worth of parts to complete the spoiler. Seems like LEGO could have included them. I’ve also seen someone do a narrow body coupe that looks good. And I ordered it on launch day but did not get the vip kit that USA customers got gypped on.

I've built both and ended up builing a mix of the 2 (the turbo minus the spoiler) aka base 911
I think this is the best looking creator expert car
I like the turbo the most
i think you can try to mix versions like puting the soft roof on the turbo version

I built the turbo version and used part # 37775 in the exhaust I found laying around
Excellent review. The techniques used by Mike feel almost illegal. Not sure why so many colored pieces in odd places, but who knows... :)
I read somewhere that the main reason why designers use coloured parts in the internal structure is to make the building experience easier and less confusing
@@ettorereventon2667 I think you may be right. I did the tumbler, which wad damn near all black and gray, making instructions somewhat difficult. not impossible, but a bit frustrating, taking away from the building experience.
A friend of mine whose a lego nerd told me the reason why they have random colourful pieces is that the designers are encouraged to do it
One thing that’s missing for me is the vent on the rear wheel arch for the turbo. A basic print would’ve been enough
For me, this set was only a few pieces away from being perfect. Aside from the missing license plates, I would've liked the kit to include parts to build the Turbo Targa.
Someone should design an RWB kit for this

Already I am looking around for the Mustang and maybe this Porsche. Do you know if it is possible to build the Targa with the Turbo engine cover? I think it is a nice combination. 🙂
its not possible since you use the pieces of the spoiler on the upper side of the targa roof

The targa roof looks kinda weird with the light grey visible at the front. It also seems to be a bit too narrow.
Luckily the model looks best without the roof. Just store it and never look at it again. I just replaced both plates and reinforced the hinges in the back with an extra (invisible) bar. Compromises because of the dual build, I'm sure.

I'm starting to suspect that they put two versions cuz then people would wanna buy two sets to have both versions on display, resulting in higher sales. 🙃

Will those wheels fit the T2 Camper van ? if so that gives me another reason to plop down some cash on this.
I'm not sure but I think the wheels on the T2 are the same size but narrower, so these would stick out a bit

You can, but it's not that easy
For me, they just needed to have 5 dials. It's extremely out of place seeing 4 dials in a 911...
I am quite sure that the Targa had the darker (design is kind of naked/simple) rims too. I guess i'm wrong...
2 years and no one has mentioned the reason for the red beam on the driver's side and the blue beam on the passenger's side. It is because on the higher end cars like the Carrera GT, the wheel locks are blue on passenger side and red on driver side. Why? Because race cars.
Only 2 things I hate about this set
1, the plates. There's only 1 of each the US and Japanese plate, despite needing 2. And it comes with a Japanese plate without any right hand drive instructions.
2, the doors don't have any stoppers unlike the Mustang's. So the doors just open until they hit the front fender.
Other than that...

@@RacingBrick I have Porsche 917 in red with white stripes and it looks stunning. Though its not originally Lego, its been designed by German. Lego needs to try harder.

It's very easy to say "LEGO needs to try harder", but a lot of times the model is chosen together with the licensing partner. If Porsche wants to see yet another iteration of the 911, then it's either that or nothing.

18+ is not an age rating, it shows that it is not a playset but rather something for casual adult builders
However, this set will sadly turn yellowish-white over time
Nice display model, but not much use as it is too big for minifigs. Just sayin'

I am all good except for the white color, it will turn yellowish after a few years, I often avoid technic sets that has white as main color. had enough of it.
TBH I would rather they’d have done a red Porsche with loads of hidden white 1x1s than a white Porsche with red hidden 1x1s. All I see with white Lego sets is yellow ones waiting to be born 🤨🤬
