I SWEAR TO GOD, i ve searched for a video where someone compare tretinoin to adapalene, but i havent found a single one, untill now, thanks Dr. Dray queen!!!! 😱😍
Glad I could help!
LMFAOO me to! This was just me yesterday.
She is !
Same! I couldn’t find any info….dr. Dray to the rescue!
Me too 😄
would love to see a video dedicated to the differences between adapalene, tretinoin, tazarotene and trifarotene!
I literally searched Dr Dray’s videos earlier today for this exact question and ended up watching an old upload. This is exactly what I needed today. You read my mind! Thanks Dr Dray! 😃
How skin care ‘enthusiasts’ on RUclips have more subscribers than an actual dermatologist is beyond me 😭
you saved my skin dr dray thank you for your videos 💕💕💕
I think a lot of people just want to be told what to buy. They don't want to learn the science behind skincare. I for one love learning the science and that's why I watch Dr Dray 😌
People these days unfortunately don't want to understand and instead want bite-sized soundbites and catchphrases.
she saved lots of us
I was thinking the same!!
Dermatologists do a great job of educating but lots of people go to RUclips for entertainment
Dr. dray is one smart cookie. Much appreciate all the information and knowledge you share with us.
I couldn’t find info about the differences between differen & tret anywhere.
Skincare enthusiasts could never answer a question so thoroughly.
You’re such a queen, honestly! Thanks for the amazingly helpful video ❤️
I was literally trying to find videos dealing with this topic a week back!! And all I could find was an old video by Dr dray stating why she switched to tret from adap, *so* glad you posted this! Thank yoouu
Thanks for getting me onto lily silk they are not as expensive as other companies and shipping isn’t long either!
as an avid adapalene user, i’m looking forward to trying tret soon. 💜😊
I was using Tretinoin for 3 years with no results except dryness, peeling, and more breakouts until I discovered Dr. Dray and switched to Differin and OMG my skin cleared up almost overnight!! I still can’t believe it 🙏🏼🙏🏼 My skin just loves Differin and I will never stop using it! I also simplified my skin care regimen like she recommends and stay away from fragrance in skincare and makeup and my skin has never looked better at 41 years of age!
What do you use for anti aging
I have been using tretinion cream for over 2 yrs and having same dryness no results. I am 48 yrs old.. Are you still using differin may I ask what your routine is and how are you liking?
I had the opposite experience using adapalene was a nightmare, purging lasted way longer and caused acne in places i never got acne. trying tretinoin, and hope everything goes smoothly.
When you started tretinoin did you use it daily? I'm still new to this and I wana start it
@@pikapew3428 How has your tretinoin routine gone?
Thank you Dr dray! Your vids saved my skin. I use tretinion and my skin has never looked this good 👍😊
Love this! I've been using tretinoin on my face, neck , chest and hands for 4 years . Its amazing stuff and #1 in my skin care arsenal which I keep very simple. With tretinoin, the simpler, the better.
Thanks to you Dr. Dray I really stepped up my skin care routine! Sunscreen daily, and cleanse + differin + moisturise at night 💙
Thank you Dr Dray. Always looking forward to your videos. Simplified my skincare routine thanks to you🙂 Greetings from Aruba🇦🇼
I've actually never tried Tretinoin nor Differin, but I love to learn new stuff :)
I love the robe you’re wearing. I love the pillowcases too.
fabulous!! also was looking for a comparison video thank you!!
as always, this is very useful! thank you Dr. Dray
I just love your content, personality and realness.....
I’m not sure I’ll ever be able to work my way up
to Tret. When I try to increase my Adapalene to nightly, my skin gets really angry and I have to back down to 3x a week again. No complaints though. My skin has brightened and the texture has greatly improved in 4 months time. I don’t have acne but use it for anti aging because I have sensitive skin.
Differing using now for 3,months been a game changer on my oily and acne prone skin.i notice less or no breakouts and my oil is less my face is brighter than dull and texture is better.Love all what the information u helped me all this year's...Loving Dr.Dray nail polish...
Love and adore you and you’ve got the best channel! I also love the color of your nail polish it almost looks like midnight blue.
Oh thank you!
This is so scary :O I was googling adapalene vs tretinoin literally a few hours ago. I open RUclips and see this upload. Great video as always :)
I’ve used almost everything, and they all work for me; currently OTC Differin covering all the bases plus B complex and C supplement.
Woah every time I have a question about skin care I look it up and you coincidentally posted a video about it. EVERY. TIME.
Happy Friday! Loving my pillow case because of you. Thank you for this, I’m starting to get gifts and the LilySilk and set would be a great holiday gift! 💕💕💕
They make great gifts!
Thanks so much for explaining the difference in such detail. I've been thinking of giving Differin a try and this helped me make a decision. Happy Friday, Dr Dray!! I hope you, your sweet momma and little Tybee have a fantastic weekend! ❤
Hi! Any update?
@@kk-pb3du Unfortunately no. I miss momma Dray and Tybee and occasionally like to give them a shout out in case momma Dray reads the comments. I hope all is well with her. 😊
@@marylawman8603 The adapalene didnt help you with anything?
Thank you for the straightforward answer on tretinoin vs adapalene
Love this!!! Thank you Dr. Dray! I've actually been using Tazarotene after 2 years of using Tret and looking into Trifarotene now for anti-aging since it a 4 gen retinoid but can't seem to find any information on it's antiaging benefits. Would it be more superior to Tazarotene (I can tolerate it quite well).
My derm recently prescribed tazarotene to treat my hormonal acne. Had never heard of it before but I really like it! I was scared of getting dry, peeling skin. But I've had zero irritation after 3 weeks of use! I wish dr dray would compare taz & tretinoin. Rarely hear any info about these newer retinoids.
These questions were great topics. Great video 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Thanks so much!
Oh I love that nightgown that looks really comfortable
Love your nails. Thanks for another great video
Lilysilk hair ties are the best! However, I don't think you can twist them 3 times, just two. I love the masks as well. Have a great week-end~😘
This was such an amazingly informative video!! Thanks so much Dr. Dray ☺
I used Differin for a year and then decided to go to my derm for Tretenoin. I've been using it for a year and a half and the results are amazing. Thanks Dr. Dray for your guidance and help. My derm is very pleased with my skin as of late (as am I).
Thanks for watching 💙
Can I ask you how did the transition from Adapalene to Tretinoin go? Was it a straight forwards swap or did you go through a slow introduction? Did you suffer from retinization? Sorry for asking so many question I am planning to do the same thing
@@archeosr85 I'm happy to answer:) For me it was a simple swap. I may have started every other night for the first week or 2 to test the waters but very quickly started applying nightly. I've experienced no redness, drying or irritation. My Dr said if my skin can handle it then nightly is fine.
Thanks for this comment. I'm leading the same way, it'll be a year coming may 2022. I'm planning to look for a derm to give me prescription for tret.
Exactly the same for me. No dryness or irritation. Nightly tretinoin makes such a difference
Hey doc would you please consider making a video about exfoliation while using tretinoin
Thank you for all your videos! What actives should I use on the days when I’m not using tretinoin?
Glycolic acid.
Very informative! Thank you🥰
Dr Dray, can you please discuss vertical nail ridges? What causes them and how to get rid of them. Some of my nails have lots of ridges and some don’t have any. Not sure what is causing it.
Got two Lilly silk pillowcases! Thanks!
Thank you so much!! I similar video of tretinoin vs Trifarotene (aklief) would be so amazing!! ❤️
Thank you for the great video! I have a question for Dr. Dray and/or her followers: is there any information out there about which retinoid would be optimal for milia-prone skin? Tretinoin or differin? I've been scouring the internet for a long time and haven't found anything addressing this. Maybe somebody here has an answer? Sending love!
Thank you for this video, and all your other ones!! Could you make a video on Arazlo? I just got prescribed Arazlo .045%. Seems so much weaker than what I used to use in my early 20s (.1% tazorac), but was told it penetrates deeper with less irritation. Would love to hear your thoughts!
Same! Hope she sees this
Omg last year I asked for my bday the silk pillowcase set comes with a hair bonnet and eye mask and love it all. Got it coz of you😙
I much prefer Adaplene. It's less irritating and I have been using it for a number of years. I am 50 and people think I am in my early 30s.
👍🏼👍🏼
Thats cool I use differin and I'm in my 30s. Don't see a difference, I think it's because my face has sun damage 😬 I lacked the sunscreen education in my 20's and lived in the sun every summer.
@@ltrujillo5476 you sound exactly like me. Everything you said is true for me as well. I skipped sunscreen and loved going tanning. I didn't have any education on skin care. I'm 34. I just started using differin last month. I see zero difference. I also have suspected hormonal adult acne and it hasn't helped that either. Maybe I'm using it wrong?
@@palestar828 one month is waaayy to small of a timeframe, keep using daily for at least 6 months and you will see improvement of sun damage if the damage you have inflicted isn't too major
@@egemenefe2753 thank you so much for your reply. I appreciate it. I'm new to skin care. It's so confusing sometimes because there is so much to learn!! I've been using differin for suspected hormonal adult acne. I've only been applying it to the acne on my face ( the right side of my face, jawline and neck only) and not using it on the entire face. The acne is still there and hasn't improved. I mainly starting using it because I wanted to get rid of the adult acne.
Hi 🤗 Could you answer this in a Q&A?: what are your thoughts on ethyl lactyl retinoate? It is said to be «the first double conjugate retinoid to deliver both AHA and RC to skin on a hydrolysis based time released mechanism thereby theoretically maximizing efficacy while simultaneously minimizing irritation.» A woman at a skin care center tried to sell me a product today that had this ingredient, and according to the sales woman it is as efficient as Tretinoin but without the irritation. When googling I find studies that conclude the same, but I’ m trying to be source critical and would love to hear your insight on the matter. Thanks a million 🤩
Best day ever, thank you for this video!!!
Thanks for watching
Would love an in depth look at Micro tretinoin. I've heard that the patent is about to expire which would be wonderful! But I can't really find any details about it anywhere.
I didn't really see anything with Adapalene. Switching to Tretinoin was such a blessing for me. I started to switch to Tretinoin after watching your video about this. And i've never experienced any irritation at all using any of these retinoids.
What difference you noticed?
You should make a video or short about how you care for/wash your silks.
I love all your videos, they are so informative! Thanks a bunch!
Thanks for watching
Silk ❤️the color is gorgeous and it looks really well on you have a you ever tried lippsy 💖
I WAS LITERALLY JUST ASKING MYSELF THIS!! Great timing 😅👍👍
Thanks for watching
I’m an adapalene (differin) user and in my personal experience, it helps get rid of my sebaceous hyperplasia as well, esp those that just formed (it will disappear within a week with 2-3 differin application. I only use differin 3x a week)
How do you like it now?
@@heiroot i am happy with it, many people had commented that my skin looks clear and taut/ no visible wrinkles for my age (early 40s). Since my previous comment, i have moved to 5x a week differin with one night for salicylic acid (for pores) and 1 night a week where i dont apply anything strong. I’m thinking of taking it to the next level by moving on to prescription tretinoin this year
Im 27 and been one year since i started to use Differin, my skin looks amazing but should i switch to something else for better anti aging retinols?
Hi Dr Dray, love your videos! thank you for educating us! I had a question- I feel tretinoin cream that I have prescribed for acne I cant spread all over face, its like a cream but whenever I try to spread a pea size amount on,it just clumps in to white small particles. I notice it happens even if i dont apply anything else after washing face as well so i dont think its any other product interaction. Is it still effective? sometimes i just put it on problem areas at end of routine. I dont really have any irritation from 0.1 percent except redness if I over do it. Will it really absorb if I put it over moisturizer?
I continued using Adapalene while on accutane bc neither my doctor or derm told me not too. I had no peeling except a little dryness inside my nose and around the base 👀 I focused (and still do) on hydration in my skincare routine as I was warned about excessive dryness. And, well it didn’t happen even though I did this during the (Canadian) winter too. My skin is baby soft and clear now for the first time in my life! I guess everyone’s skin is different :)
@deanna did you have scarring during accutane
I was just literally searching for adapalene vs tretinoin comparison videos and information YESTERDAY and today you published this video, it almost feels like you read my mind! Thanks for this very informative video. I would like to ask, if my skin can tolerate tretinoin well (my main problem is acne but of course I would like to also prevent skin aging), would tretinoin still be a better choice than adapalene? I was thinking if adapalene somehow is a better choice for acne treatment compared to tretinoin?
Same question I have
Hi, Dr. Dray! Would I apply benzoyl peroxide before or after the differin? Or does it matter? TIA!
Happy Friday Dr Dray!
Happy Friday
Could you do a video on tazarotene and how it differs from tretinoin? I'm on it for my acne right now and would love to know what you think!
Yes! I just started tazarotene as well.
Thank you! Much better 🌷👌
Happy weekend Dr Dray...see you tomorrow x💙🤩
Thank you dear Doctor Dray! 🤟👋
Which one is generally deemed more effective against acne, tretinoin or adapalene?
You look even younger and prettier every time you upload a new video
Do you trust Stylevana for Asian sunscreens Dr. Dray?
Would love to know your thoughts on the dermatica brand Dr dray 💞😃
Hello Dr can you tell how effective is betaine salicylate or can you review cosrx BHA power liquid. Thanks for always educating us😊❤️❤️
Was waiting for this one
Thanks for watching
During the week I have been alternating between a Retinaldehyde cream (4 nights) and adapalene (3 nights). It that a good idea or should I pick one and stick with it?
Dear Dr. Dray, you look lovely with that pink silk robe. Greetings from Colombia!
Thanks! 😃
Happy Thanksgiving doc ❤️
Hi, I'm in the UK. Please could you tell me which tretinoin to buy? thanks x
Happy Friday Dr Dray
Happy Friday
Quick question Dr. is there a problem with using tretinoin around the eyes besides posible irritation?
Hi Dr. Dray! I just want to know if after months of using tretinoin cream and I only want to maintain my skin, can I switch to retinol serum? specifically with a formulation 1% retinol, 2% Niacinamide and glycerin, Thank you so so much! I hope you notice this :D
just got a tretinoin rx and kinda pumped to see what it does.
hope you guys have a great weekend xo
You too!!
Thanks! Now I can wear tretinoin at night (what I’m already doing) and differin in the morning I hope is not too much for my skin
Dr. Dray- Can you start with Adapalene and then move up to trentinoin? Like as a step in that direction? Thanks.
Just because adapalene isn’t proven beyond a shadow of a doubt that it’s anti aging doesn’t mean that it definitely isn’t. Since I started using it, my fine lines and wrinkles have diminished greatly. I’m fact, it’s worked much better for anti aging than acne for me
I just started my acne treatment with differin but the night I skipped differin I use tretinol I noticed my face got smoother just one night, maybe you should try both.
@@chinazaokechukwu that only increases irritation, stick to one.
Thank you. was looking for this comment because I want to use it as an anti aging product 😂
How long have you been using it? I badly wanna switch it with my retinol because my goal is also anti-aging.
Damn DrDray will be at 2 mil in no time
Is there a difference between gel cream lotion tret, or differences in brand names. I've been on retin a micro which is a lotion and I hated it, it didn't spread nicely and burned my skin on the first use but says it's for more for sensitive skin....are there better brands for one target...wrinkles or acne or pigmentation
I used Differin .1% for 2 months and didn't really see any effect for better or worse. I realize now I should've tried with it a little longer. Anyway I asked my Dr to switch me to tretinoin but once I got it home and looked at the ingredients I realized that most brands of tretinoin are formulated with Butylated Hydroxyanisole (which the US Department of Health and Human Services has called a "reasonably anticipated human carcinogen") or BHT (which is also a suspected carcinogen). I'm just a regular old person who prefers the ingredients in my products not to be likely carcinogens so for me Differin wins. Especially because I realized they make a .3% formulation. I wish there was more discussion of this as I had no idea until I got the tretinoin prescription.
The dose makes the poison: you aren't being exposed to dangerous levels of either of those *suspected* (not in humans, mind you) carcinogens. It comprises a tiny part of the formula, and probably can't even get through your skin.
Hey! Can you please make a video on breakouts particular to the forehead after having eyebrow waxing. The rationale behind it and treatment.
(Not using anything other than Cerave gentle wash, QV cream and SPF)
Ily doll ❤️
She mentioned this recently. It’s a type of folliculitis. I think she mentioned using benzoyl peroxide to reduce bacteria in the area.
Allergy? I get them too around the eyebrows not on the eyelid tho but forehead
She’s so beautiful ❤️
I love lilysilk too!!
Please make a video about the new European product Tretin (topical isotretinoin 0.5)
Otc tretinoin was discontinued and this is the only alternative my pharmacist offered me

This video helps alot!!
Dr Dray, is it possible to use Paulas choice azelaic acid booster(it has salicylic acid and licorice root as well ) with adapalene on the same night if ny skin can tolerate it?
I have been using adapalene but I'll want to incoporate azelaic acid. I'm torn between TO azelaic acid and PC azelaic acid booster.
I use Timeless Vit C and TO arbutin, and sunscreen in the morning.
Oooh I was wondering about this
Dr Dray. Can you please review dr.Rattan products. She had a pigmentation kid and other products
Hello Dr.Dray! I'm trying to find a good tranexamic acid product for PIE, but there aren't any topical products in my country except for pills. I was wondering whether I can dissolve tranexamic acid pills in water and use it as a toner, will it work?
I have my personal data .Regarding Adapalene, I'm 47 and during last 4 years I've been using this amazing lotion-gel. And I'm telling you. It does help to smooth wrinkles and fade sun spots!
I'm considering switching from tretinion cream to differin. I have used over 2 yrs and not seeing much improvement other than dryness. May I ask what your routine with differin is? I'm 48 yrs old mainly using for anti-aging but still have enlarged pores, textured skin and pigmentation.
@@heidizeiler1269 same here. Tretinoin creams formula in my country are horrible. They're contain soo many comedogenic formula so there's no huge progress for me. They're sell Tret in gel version but i can't stand the alcohol which really really strong in it. That's why i'm giving Adapalene a try. Hope this will work for acne + wrinkle. I'm 31 with oily skin.
@@halomiss What country?
@Algemon could you share your Differin routine? Do you put them on in the morning? Do you layer it with somethinge else? I've noticed it dries very fast.
@@iranjackheelson if you feel it dries your skin, yes, layer it with moisturiser.
Moisturiser first , let it dry and put Adapeline.
I wanted this video so badly. Thank you!
Hey Dr. Dray any thoughts on adapelene under a tinted sunscreen?
Doctor, please could you answer this question....
Is isotretinoin gel as good as tretinoin itself in wrinkle treatment? Tretinoin has been discontinued in Greece...
Thank you in advance!!
Hello, I would like to ask, is Differin good option to get rid of blackheads? Thank you!
