I started on Tretinoin because of you & Angie, Hot & Flashy before the pandemic & ran out during it & didn't get a new prescription until recently so I'm catching up again. I'm 70 I intend to stay on it now because even at my age I think it's the best thing I can do for my skin along with sunscreen & moisturizing every day & night. I wish I had known about it years ago but better late than never.

I tolerate tazarotene beter. Tretinoin made my skin peel in sheets. With tazarotene, my skin just gets a little flaky. With either, you must be careful not to overdo it and avoid stripping your skin's mantle. I noticed a huge reduction in blackheads with tazarotene. I think the antiaging benefits of both products were about equal for me. Tazarotene is hella expensive though, and often not covered by insurance.

But seeing the little results at the end of each week kept me going! I use it once a week. Still fighting acne tho which I can't understand too well. I’m not sure why you are only using Tretinoin once a week? You can use it as much as once every day if your skin will tolerate it? When I was much younger I used it daily for acne. Now at 57 I’m going to go on it soon for anti aging. I’m on Ada pale next currently. Perhaps you should talk to a dermatologist? If you do increase usage tho do it gradually and not all at once like I did as a teenager. Back then they didn’t tell you to work up to it over a few weeks or months.

I was very lucky to have clear skin during and after having my three kids using no acne products. But at the end of 2020, I started getting breakouts again and looked into treatments. I went back on Differin (after discovering it is now available over the counter) in January 2021, stopped using face scrubs, and started getting serious about sunscreen thanks to you, Dr. Dray! I now tell EVERYONE to make sure they wear sunscreen. Differin seems to suit my skin well and doesn't dry me out or bother me. And in case any one is looking for a great sunscreen, especially if you are a person of color, I LOVE Colorscience. I use the Face Shield Matte SPF 50. @@julieme7927 make sure your skincare routine consists of sunscreens, cleansers, and moisturizers. If you have not found them that are suitable for your skin type, I suggest to start finding them. Prescription medication tends to be drying and irritating. And consider area where you live. My area where I live is very humid and hot. Some Moisturizers can make me sweating. The humidity is enough to hydrate my skin well. So sometimes I skip the moisturizing step if my skin is not irritated. But if you live in new york or US for example, the climate is pretty dry. Moisturizers can sometimes be imperative to make your skin tolerate that medication.

I watch all your videos because I want to learn! However, I did click extra enthusiastically because I use retin-a micro (thanks to you) and was curious about other retinoids. It’s been a few years now though so I really see no reason to switch. Happy Wednesday!

I’ve been on Arazlo .045% for about 2 months and I absolutely love it! No irritation when I apply moisturizer first then go in with the Arazlo.

I have used many retinoids over the years but I always return to Fabior, a 0.1% tazarotene foam. It just makes my skin glow, and it controls my oily skin. I stopped using it initially because of insurance coverage, but recently I found a drug coupon. I will never go back to Tretioin. Thank you for the wonderful information.

Thank you for your videos!! I’m wondering why the studies you mentioned compared Tazarotene 0.1% cream versus tretinoin 0.05% cream rather than the same percentages for both? Do you think if the same percentages were compared that Tazarotene would still have faster results?

⭐️⭐️ I loved my RX tret for my face I used it for 1 solid year . I had to stop using it because my hair started falling out really bad. I found a few medical articles saying this could happen . I stopped using it and after 1 month my hair stopped falling out .but I loved what it did for my skin.

I would really like to hear something on tretinoin and dry eye. I have been using tret .5 gel for the last eight years for melasma, and have had increasingly problematic dry eyes. I know the two are linked and would appreciate your take!

You might also want to check out eye doctor channels like Dr. Rupa Wong or Eye School with Dr. D who have both talked about retinol and the eyes.

Tretinoin is toxic to the Meibomian glands, which contribute oil to the protective moisture film of the eyes. Proceed with caution and consult an ophthalmologist.

Lesson to be learned - Any retinoid you use will greatly improve your skin for the better. The longer you use it, the better your skin will get and the more you can maintain it for longer. Retinoids are your bestfriend. ❤️❤️❤️
