In terms of dynamic range and usability, it’s night and day in favor of the e10…I shot a complete nature documentary, with close-up shots that you would NEVER be able to get with your e1.. it’s great for point and shoot for RUclips though.😂

    It appears the new ZVe10 Mark II is due out this year, perhaps in August 2024. There were rumors that production on this (ZVe10) camera was halted due to chip shortages. I'm not sure if they worked that out, but if not, it would make this camera hard to find.

    • @VisionaryFilmStudios

      I definitely wouldn’t use it as a substitute for color correction / color grading. But imo it gives you a better starting point for doing your grade.
      Generally for most videos though, I don’t actually grade the footage. I just do a quick color correction and call it a day. When I’m editing a film I definitely do, or for big commercials I do. But for social media content (including my RUclips videos) I pretty much never do.

    • @VisionaryFilmStudios

      If you’re already being intentional about your color settings, you may not need to worry about it.
      Maybe just set one of the other picture profiles to what I showed in the video and compare to see if you like what you’re using now or my settings better. Specifically I’d be looking at skin tones and which represents color a little more naturally. Also pay attention to image sharpness, as the zve10 tends to be a bit over sharp.

    I tried your colour settings. I liked the look. I did find that when I shot on intelligent auto my blue eye colour was accurate but my eyes were more grey on these settings. It was a grittier look. Is that what you were after? Would a manual white balance make a difference?

    • @VisionaryFilmStudios
      @VisionaryFilmStudios  Год назад

      Not going to lie- you might have a better eye for color than me XD
      My goal was to match the s Cinetone profile of Sonys higher end cameras. I shoot a lot on the a7Siii and a7iv and pretty exclusively use the s Cinetone profile, so I just wanted my e10 to match fairly easily.
      As far as white balance, I definitely recommend always using manual white as I feel like at least on this camera a human will always do better than the ai. Not sure how big of a difference that would make on your eye color though.

      Hey! To answer you're question directly, the ZVe10 is my number 1 camera recommendation for filmmakers looking to spend less that $2k on their camera!
      As far as the rolling shutter, if you do a lot of whip pans or handheld shots with no stabilization and that sort of thing you'll definitely see the rolling shutter come out in the footage. In the case of whip pans, the bit of distortion during the pan really doesn't matter to me personally- its only on for a few frames. When it comes to the handheld shots, I'd recommend not really shooting a lot of handheld shots on the ZVe10 with no stabilization- I'd use a monopod or a tripod or the active stabilization in the camera or a gimbal or something like that. Using any of those options, the rolling shutter really isn't even going to be something you ever notice while using the camera.
      When it comes to still photography, I've used it for some photography and the rolling shutter has never ruined a photo for me. Maybe if you're going to shoot a lot of high action events (like sports) it could present an issue for sure, but outside of that I wouldn't worry about it at all.
      Not to drop spoilers but... I'm actually in the process of shooting a short film on the ZVe10 right now that will release on this channel in a few weeks along with a TON of bts on how I made a film with the ZVe10. Haven't announced it anywhere yet though so keep that on the DL 😉

    What about this or canon r50?

    • @VisionaryFilmStudios
      @VisionaryFilmStudios  Год назад

      The biggest thing the ZVe10 has going for it that you don’t get in the r50 is digital stabilization. In the review of the zve10 that I just uploaded to my channel yesterday I said I lean away from using the digital stabilization in the zve10 which is true, but it is a feature that has saved me on a few occasions and something I definitely still appreciate. With the r50, you can enable stabilization on your lens which is better than nothing, but pales in comparison to how good the stabilization is in the Sony.
      With that said, these are very similar cameras in many ways. Ultimately, you have to remember than your camera isn’t what makes an incredible film. You do, regardless of what camera or equipment your using.
      My pick between the 2 would still be the zve10, but not so much because the zve10 is an objectively better camera (again they’re very similar). Rather I’d go with the zve10 because I feel like Sony is way ahead when it comes to the specs in they’re higher end cameras. Sony has been ahead in their specs since the a7iii dropped in 2017, but when the r5 and a7Siii were released in 2020 it really sealed the deal for me that Sony’s options were just ahead. Even the zve10 was released a full 18 months before canon’s compatible offer (the r50). When the zve10 came out, canon’s closest offering was the m50 and m50ii, neither of which were viable in 4k resolution especially when compared to the zve10. So overall I feel like the investment into Sony gear (and especially their lenses) is going to be a better one for the future.
      But with that said, both companies make great cameras and you’ll be able to make incredible films no matter which direction you decided to go. Again, your camera isn’t what makes an incredible film. You do!

    This video is awesome! I am considering using the ZVe10 for a two-person video podcast. Do you recommend the ZVe10 for podcasts? Will it match up well with the FX30? Also, can I use the ZVe10 for all 3 camera angles, or would you mix the cameras?

    • @VisionaryFilmStudios
      @VisionaryFilmStudios  Год назад +1

      The ZVe10 would be a great podcasting camera! Just make sure you set the heat settings to high so it doesn’t overheat and stop recording in the middle of the podcast.
      I’m actually working on editing a video right now where I compare the ZVe10 to the a7Siii you might be interested in. I compare footage from both cameras and essentially show how you can get the same picture from both. Looking to post it somewhere around 1/12/24 so stay tuned to the channel 😉
      I’m short though, yeah you can definitely match the zve10 to the fx30. Just use the picture profile settings I outlined in this video for the e10 with a good lens and you’ll be all set 💪

    • @VisionaryFilmStudios
      @VisionaryFilmStudios  Год назад +1

      Happy 2024!
      So with 4k 30 you can slow it down to 80% speed, which definitely will give it a little bit of a dreamy look but won't look like you normally think of slow motion.
      To do real slow motion you'll have to do either 1080p 60fps (which you can slow to 40%) or 120fps (20%). Don't stress too much about the lower resolution though, in my experience the quality still looks awesome!

      @@VisionaryFilmStudios Thank you so much! What do you think is best for a cinematic feel?

    • @VisionaryFilmStudios
      @VisionaryFilmStudios  Год назад +1

      @@KikaruSatomi great question! Sort of depends on what you’re shooting.
      If you’re shooting a narrative film / short film, usually a normal 24fps is best. Then just use slow motion if you want to slow a moment down or emphasize something.
      If you’re shooting a bunch of b roll to turn into a hype video or something like that, I’d pretty much always shoot in slow motion so that you can choose when you’re editing what clips you want to be in slow motion and what you want in real time speed.
      As far as 60fps vs 120fps, it really just depends on the speed of what you’re shooting and how much you want to slow it down. I’ve found 60fps is perfect for most things and 120fps is great for special instances when you really want to drag something out or if you’re shooting something that happens really fast (like someone running for example.
      I actually made a video last year (2022) about shooting in slow motion! Not quite as high quality as what I’ve been putting out recently but still good info ☺️ here is a link if you wanna check it out!

      Is this an issue you’re having or just something you’re concerned about?
      My recommendations is to put the camera on a tripod, gimbal, monopod, or another form of stabilization. That should help you reduce the rolling shutter to essentially nothing as long as you aren’t shooting anything too intense like sports. 😉
