    It’s a combat dive on the 7 mile bridge. I miss Marathon. I have a time share at the foot of the bridge at the Hawks Nest, but it has been shut down since Irma. Look forward to getting back down when it finally opens back up.

    I've gone to many bridges down there but never the 7 mile bridge. What I am usually able to do is hug the pylons when the current is ripping, and its pretty tolerable. Then when I'm done combing I'll swim from the front of 1 pylon to the back of the next one. Not too bad, and I never use tanks. Is this doable at the 7 mile bridge or do you think the current is too bad? How deep is it?

    Hey Guys.
    So i have a question for you.
    Im not a diver at all. Do everything snorkeling just cause of health issues not good to be to deep. Whats the best place to lobster in shallow water such as 10ft or less?
    Im sure you do hood at the bridges cause not everyone likes to fight the current. For some reason the current to me seems to run a lot stronger then most other places we fish at.
    Thanks for you time.
    Tight Lines.......

      For the longest time, we only snorkeled as well. We still snorkel when we're at the Keys. In places like the Cut which is around Marathon, it can be 3-10 ft. It is definitely better to go there during slack tide though. The lobster are usually in single holes rather than a ledge or hole full of them. Let us know if you have anymore questions!

      Ocean Deep Fishing I just got back from the marathon area. Since your looking for areas of low current the Atlantic side from Duck Key to Vaca Key harbors a massive amount of grass ledges in relative shallow water(4-7). You'll most likely need a dive partner however when tickling them out from the grass ledges, because once you get them away from the ledges, they tend to scoot into the grass flats and then they get tough finding them among the thick grass. I've seen them stacked up to 30bugs in certain grass ledges, but TAKE YOUR TIME. Don't hurry. If you make the big ones nervous, you could be watching the entire group exit within a minute and your left with a couple. Good hunting.

    bridges are cool but always have tons of sharks, the current is unreal at times, and lots of boat traffic. I just don't get why you would bridge dive for them when you can easily find better lobster spots in the bay or oceanside, especially since you had a boat

  • @Dennis-wo3od

    @reelhazardous How do you figure out when slack tide is?

    • @ReelHazardous

      Usually we look at tide charts to get a general ideas and then get the actual time when we’re scout it.

    Is it legal to lobster fish a bridge? Law reads kinda wishy-washy?

    • @ReelHazardous
      @ReelHazardous  2 года назад +1

      I think it all depends on where you are at. Jetties are interesting as far as regulations go as well. For us part of being able to dive on it depends on how long the jetties are for example lol

    • @thatbme35
      @thatbme35 2 года назад

      @@ReelHazardous I'm no lawyer but I had a few🤣 kinda reads you can catch them on any structure that was permitted to install. So I don't understand the no jetty or artificial reef? Can't hunt under or near sunken boats near shore? A little confused. I'm planning a trip to the keys and definitely don't want to have to get another lawyer.

    I swear I posted on one of your lobster videos about if there was a law saying you couldn't lobster near objects like bridges, lighthouses, etc, you had to be at least 100 yards out (this was a legitimate question). Was my comment deleted?maybe it didn't post, but could y'all please answer it. Thanks so much, please make more videos! Since it is deer season do some of those too! And show us if y'all have any nice ar-15s or nice guns shotguns, etc! Would love to see what y'all got!

    • @ReelHazardous
      @ReelHazardous  7 лет назад +1

      Sorry about that. Wasn't deleted but maybe it was held for review for some reason. In Florida anyways I haven't heard of Bridges being illegal to lobster on unless it is in a restricted area. It is illegal to catch lobster on non approved artificial reefs (Like putting your own lobster motels out). I know you you have to be a certain distance away to spearfish but lobstering you are good. I put the links to some of the regulations below. I appreciate the comment though! This weeks video will be on hunting and we are actually working on an AR build video too!

    • @ReelHazardous
      @ReelHazardous  8 лет назад

      We "tickle them out." Its what they call it when you use the thin yellow stick ("Tickle stick") to coerse them out of their hole. Rubbing the stick against their chest causes them to move forward out of their spot. It looks like you are tickling the lobster; hence the name!

    real lobster hunters don't use cheater sticks or nets. go to CA and all you get to use is your hands. If you can catch your limit with just your hands then you are a true lobster hunter.

    • @ReelHazardous
      @ReelHazardous  8 лет назад +5

      That's interesting! Are you saying you can't use a tickle stick, lobster loop, or net in CA to catch lobster? We've never tried to catch a lobster with just our bare hands but we are real people (not just a fictional characters on RUclips) and we do hunt lobster. So I guess we are real lobster hunters! Though I prefer the term Reel Hazardous Lobster Hunters ;)

    • @ReelHazardous
      @ReelHazardous  8 лет назад

      Gotcha. In the Keys we get them in 5 to 15 ft but in North Florida we get them in 100 to 130 ft generally. Bad vis makes it tough for us even in 5 ft though!
