Back in the seventies I used to hunt the bridge pilings it was a blast
It’s a combat dive on the 7 mile bridge. I miss Marathon. I have a time share at the foot of the bridge at the Hawks Nest, but it has been shut down since Irma. Look forward to getting back down when it finally opens back up.
Had a bunch of weeks in dec and Jan at Hawks Nest moved into Knights Key Camp Ground in between 25 Dusky , took a few years but dove em all , still have my piling book
I've gone to many bridges down there but never the 7 mile bridge. What I am usually able to do is hug the pylons when the current is ripping, and its pretty tolerable. Then when I'm done combing I'll swim from the front of 1 pylon to the back of the next one. Not too bad, and I never use tanks. Is this doable at the 7 mile bridge or do you think the current is too bad? How deep is it?
Cool vid...Bull sharks are definitely something to worry about!
Is obviously you hadn't been to the keys too many times that's where the bull sharks thrive next to the pilings of the bridges
We go quite a bit actually lol. There are sharks there but they haven’t got us yet!
Hey Guys.
So i have a question for you.
Im not a diver at all. Do everything snorkeling just cause of health issues not good to be to deep. Whats the best place to lobster in shallow water such as 10ft or less?
Im sure you do hood at the bridges cause not everyone likes to fight the current. For some reason the current to me seems to run a lot stronger then most other places we fish at.
Thanks for you time.
Tight Lines.......
For the longest time, we only snorkeled as well. We still snorkel when we're at the Keys. In places like the Cut which is around Marathon, it can be 3-10 ft. It is definitely better to go there during slack tide though. The lobster are usually in single holes rather than a ledge or hole full of them. Let us know if you have anymore questions!
Ocean Deep Fishing I just got back from the marathon area. Since your looking for areas of low current the Atlantic side from Duck Key to Vaca Key harbors a massive amount of grass ledges in relative shallow water(4-7). You'll most likely need a dive partner however when tickling them out from the grass ledges, because once you get them away from the ledges, they tend to scoot into the grass flats and then they get tough finding them among the thick grass. I've seen them stacked up to 30bugs in certain grass ledges, but TAKE YOUR TIME. Don't hurry. If you make the big ones nervous, you could be watching the entire group exit within a minute and your left with a couple. Good hunting.
@@reid092353 thanks so much. I appreciate your time and input
bridges are cool but always have tons of sharks, the current is unreal at times, and lots of boat traffic. I just don't get why you would bridge dive for them when you can easily find better lobster spots in the bay or oceanside, especially since you had a boat
@reelhazardous How do you figure out when slack tide is?
Usually we look at tide charts to get a general ideas and then get the actual time when we’re scout it.
good eat`s. do you need to use a net or do you like it better ??
+Kent Burr Thanks! Down there the net typically works best for us. Sometimes we use the lobster loop though.
what's the waiting list length to be your friend???? lol
therocketgod v
Watch out for Bull sharks they frequent those bridges year round. Nice catch
Thanks. Yeah we noticed that on one of our dives! lol
We used to dive 7 mile bridge for lobster and a 12 ft bull began circling. That was enough bridges for us.
Yeah I think that would be enough for us as well lol. That's a big shark!
Like to go with these guys they know some good spots
Is it legal to lobster fish a bridge? Law reads kinda wishy-washy?
I think it all depends on where you are at. Jetties are interesting as far as regulations go as well. For us part of being able to dive on it depends on how long the jetties are for example lol
@@ReelHazardous I'm no lawyer but I had a few🤣 kinda reads you can catch them on any structure that was permitted to install. So I don't understand the no jetty or artificial reef? Can't hunt under or near sunken boats near shore? A little confused. I'm planning a trip to the keys and definitely don't want to have to get another lawyer.
what does it mean to tile them ou?
"Tickle" them out. They use the sticks to move them out of the obstructions.
You left out BIG BULL SHARKS !!! lol
Majority of lobster under bridges are “shorts”
I think it just depends on the time of year and location. We have found some good size ones there before.
Great video
the best part about lobster season? being the boat driver. dont have to worry about getting attacked by sharks
Being the boat driver is pretty fun too!
cool video
k9boss1 Thanks!
In England we call them Crayfish, Lobsters have massive claws...
Cool! Is it pretty popular to go for the crayfish in England? What depth do you find them in? We have lobster up north in the US that have claws but the ones down here don't.
lyndon london THESE SPINY LOBSTERS (west coast)
I swear I posted on one of your lobster videos about if there was a law saying you couldn't lobster near objects like bridges, lighthouses, etc, you had to be at least 100 yards out (this was a legitimate question). Was my comment deleted?maybe it didn't post, but could y'all please answer it. Thanks so much, please make more videos! Since it is deer season do some of those too! And show us if y'all have any nice ar-15s or nice guns shotguns, etc! Would love to see what y'all got!
Sorry about that. Wasn't deleted but maybe it was held for review for some reason. In Florida anyways I haven't heard of Bridges being illegal to lobster on unless it is in a restricted area. It is illegal to catch lobster on non approved artificial reefs (Like putting your own lobster motels out). I know you you have to be a certain distance away to spearfish but lobstering you are good. I put the links to some of the regulations below. I appreciate the comment though! This weeks video will be on hunting and we are actually working on an AR build video too!

Hi there! Here is the link to all the rules for harvesting Lobster in FL. Hope this helps. Your friend Bill from Daytona Beach.

I was told during lobster season of 2021 by the Marine Patrol that you can NOT dive within 300 feet of bridges or man made structures.
Just know that the bull sharks are always there. They just keep their distance
As long as they keep their distance we should be good lol
I wonder how deep they dived...?
Around 12 ft or so.
There is a limit to how many you can catch, what is it?
6 per person, per day in the Keys.
it was great tasting.
Way to put it on display for all to know.... great idea we need it more crowded than it is already
Thats a lot of lobsters lol.I've never even ate one
Thanks. They're good eating!
I caught a crab in Oregon!
What kind of crab do you catch in Oregon?
how ... are you? those are called "Languste" in Germany, completely diffrent to lobsters.
That's cool! So you catch these in Germany? Are there a lot of them?
Tikal them out?
We "tickle them out." Its what they call it when you use the thin yellow stick ("Tickle stick") to coerse them out of their hole. Rubbing the stick against their chest causes them to move forward out of their spot. It looks like you are tickling the lobster; hence the name!
Oh thanks I'm going in a week I'm ganna try it
Cool. Have fun! Just remember if you are going in Florida though the season is still closed.
intro loud as can be and then this guy whispering lol.
Thanks for the heads up!
I thought lobsters had pinchers? Those must not be lobsters.
Lol, you're thinking of Maine Lobster. There are several lobster in Florida without claws! The most popular are the Spiny lobster in our video above.
MAine/East coast lobsters Have MEATY CLAWS(California Spiney Lobsters have small claws EZ TO HANDLE!!!
that is the exact bridge i lobster every year
Ur hoarding the lobster
real lobster hunters don't use cheater sticks or nets. go to CA and all you get to use is your hands. If you can catch your limit with just your hands then you are a true lobster hunter.
That's interesting! Are you saying you can't use a tickle stick, lobster loop, or net in CA to catch lobster? We've never tried to catch a lobster with just our bare hands but we are real people (not just a fictional characters on RUclips) and we do hunt lobster. So I guess we are real lobster hunters! Though I prefer the term Reel Hazardous Lobster Hunters ;)
We have to use our hands and no sticks of any sort or use of net, only hoop nets here in CA.. nice video!!
Thanks man! Are the lobster any different on the West Coast? How deep do you have to go for them?
35-65' it's not too bad but sometimes viz is about 5' that's the only bad part
Gotcha. In the Keys we get them in 5 to 15 ft but in North Florida we get them in 100 to 130 ft generally. Bad vis makes it tough for us even in 5 ft though!
