Suzuki designed the Jimmy XL to be modified by buyers. Change the tire to balloon type one, put additional flood lights on top, even the fug lights. New front & back bumper support. Some awning the side, water tank at the back. I guess this car is meant to be modified.😊

It cannot take anything above 215 .. above that the dynamics go awry and the tiny engine just gives up. Fun fact this was made for the Indian market and this one is made in Suzuki India plant. And guess what , this costs around 16 k usd on road in India. 😂

Having owned an auto and manual Jimny, I'd take the auto for off-road capability. The gearing is high for offroad take off on obstacles(even in low range). In the auto you can really load up the torque converter which is needed in serious offroading when the engine is underpowered. Australia misses out on the better specs over seas

I have it and I agree so I'm gonna put a supercharger in it along with some other things like a new ECU etc to up the power to 165bhp and 200nm torque. All of the mods are tried and tested so no risk. The underpoweredness is the only negative point of the Jimny otherwise it's just an instant legend.

I agree with most that the Jimny probably needs a bit more power. But I feel it’s closest competitor in terms of looks, price, and size, is probably Suzukis own Vitara, so putting something like the boosterjet turbo would cannibalise sales from the Vitara.

Those 15" wheels mean you can fit higher profile tyres, which means when you let the tyres down you get an elongated tread for sand etc. I would update the suspension to improve handling, maybe a fuel tank upgrade. The problem is it has a GVM of 1545 Kg with a kerb weight of 1185 Kg. That leaves 360 Kg for people, fuel, any upgrades etc. It doesn't say what is included in the kerb weight? Long Ranger has a 80 litre replacement tank. So take off about 163 Kg for two average people, 80Kg for fuel that leaves 117 Kg for load right there. Any additions like bull bars etc takes off more load allowance. Balloon tyres like has been suggested and larger diameter wheels will all, add weight. So you would have to be very judicious with what you want to take away with you let alone an extra body, even for a short off road camping trip. You could upgrade the GVM with the suspension upgrade but I bet it won't be much. There are probably some engineering experts out there looking at improving the engine performance.

I went with the manual as I don’t city drive and adaptive cruise isn’t something I need. It is a slow car but it isn’t meant to be a sport car. I have a sport car the Jimmy doesn’t need to be a sports car for me at least. It is practical what I found is the soft suspension is really good on rough roads. Plus the rear seats are great if you have kids as they are higher and kids can see out the front. Sitting in the backseat for an adult is surprisingly roomy. I live in the country NSW it is great on our crap roads. On highway I haven’t tried yet but imagine slow but still manageable. It is a boat of a car around corners but most 4x4 are going to be due to suspension and height. It is a great little car, plus if you a tired of all the electronic nanny safety features it is really great, as it doesn’t have any. It is more for people who need a capable, reliable 4x4 and are happy to live with it being unpowered. It is excellent car to have if have a rural weekender on dirt roads or you are into 4x4 on a budget. Suzuki could have stuck a turbo on it but it was designed to be low maintenance or low tech.

Watching him pull through the gears in the manual was one of the most painful things I've ever watched. I genuinely feel sorry for that car. For future reference, please, for all manual car kind, stick to driving Automatics, I'm not meaning to be rude or mean, but that was straight up painful. Anyway, i had the manual Jimny 3 door and it was brilliant. Being a driver by profession, i would have a manual over an auto any day. Driving Auto just gets boring after a while and i like to be in full control of the vehicle I'm driving. Auto gear boxes take you away from the full driving experience. But like so many other people, the issue i had with the 3 Door was the lack of space in the Back. I'm hoping that at some point they bring out a JX model for the 5 door like they did with the 3 door.

I drove my sons Jimny once that was the first and last time l will drive it no power and l own a drive a 1997 Toyota Hilux similar horse power but much more torque and so much easier to drive after all my Hilux has a 2.4 litre 4 cylinder motor l asked my son is there any way of extracting more power out of it and my wife has a Suzuki Baleno same size engine automatic and it isn't a real chore to drive seems to have a bit more power than the Jimny

i think they sould put AGS transmission insted a regular automatic transmission in that 5 doors version. the body of 5 door jimny is more heavier than its 3 door little Brother and also regular automatic transmission is more heavier too i think it wolud be better to use AGS. to solve the weight ratio isue in 5 doors version cut the weight in transmission would be a brilliant Idea.

The jimny out performs most of the more exoensive 4wds out there . Its embarrassing to go thru obstacles with a g wagon and see the jimny parked there when you reached the end 😂

Awesome vid, awesome car - but it is not really practical with that engine. It offers worse performance than a 2000 Suzuki which costs 1 or 2k. It is unreal. So I am waiting for a new engine - they will have to upgrade the engine in a few years I imagine.

What you really had to say at the very beginning:
Suzuki Jimny XL IS NOT made in Japan, but in India and not even at Suzuki factory, but by Maruti.
So basically it's some Ragesh from the village handmade with some site profits goes to Suzuki badge. 😂😂
