Getting the turbo fitted to have the 165HP, not changing the suspension (so you retain the onroad comfort level of your car) and upgrading the interior with two-tone leather, Alcantara headliner & additional sound insulation seems like the way to go.
@@purwantiallan5089And? How is that relevant at all? Are you seriously comparing an offroad suv to a small sports car? I see you in every carwow video and your comments are always so weird.
This seems ideal for people like Matt who already own a Jimny and are of means. For them, the vehicle meets their needs, but they have very quickly reached its limits in comfort and on-road capabilities. If they still want to hold on to it after all that, doing some combination of the mods is a worthwhile investment. I certainly wouldn't go as far as this mod, but an upgraded modern head unit and more power out the engine would certainly be enough for me.
@@ettchathis should’ve been more road focused but that can easily be fixed with lowered suspension and better tires for the road and of course the interior needs to be restitched to a higher standard. It should be more of an SVR style mod.
Not only does it have more power the car also looks great. There's something about the Jimny that I always look for when I see one on the street. The only thing missing from the car in the video is the aggressive green paintwork that many Jimnys have. Great video!
I seriously adore this car so much, not only it's really good on off-roading but it's kinda really respectable and decent in terms of its own value of money, and yes, I'm talking about the original Jimny but spending alot of cash on this little Turbo Jimny is insane considering its cash, I'm glad in some Asia countries alot of people are enjoying it, I definitely would love to see an off-road video or a drag race video of this little thing.

I'd go for the engine upgrades, springs dampers and rollbars but I'd have two sets of wheels. One for onroad for daily use and one for offroad when I occasionally have to do some work
Your stock Jimny looks good and from what you say drives very well already. No need for the suspension changes or those off road tires that would affect yours as daily driver unless you plan on venturing off of pavement as part of your plans for your car. The turbo kit for the top of the spec list for the jimny is $5,741 AUD - so 3,026 pound... which includes pretty well everything - fuel pumps and lines - all requirements for the turbo (manifold, turbo, intercooler and piping ect) and it also includes a TUNE which is plug and play for automatic or manual.... You need a clutch for the manual - auto is okay - say $1000 - Oil cooler for trans $200.... a lift kit for them is cheap with shocks and coils - $1000.... so lets just call it $9k AUD - 4700 pounds.... if you include someone else to just spend a few days on it and pay labour to bolt up a kit lets call it total of $12,000 AUD- $6000 ish pounds...... Where is the other $34,000 pound of work, triming some interior when you can just buy other seats or the covers in leather from thailand or even go with a recaro which are much better than the standard crap and still have airbags, the door cards and dash trim you can buy online in leather yourself from thailand or many other places.... If someone pays that its a joke you can do it easily for more than half the price for not much and having someone install it...

Imo, you’d be better off finding a wrecked Suzuki Kizashi AWD with a good engine and doing a engine swap, assuming it will fit, Bish bash bosh on the engine bay a little if need be 2.4L 185hp, 230nm torque
Well mr Matt Watson if you want a upgrade you could buy a used one and then do the upgrade while still having your original version I think it would be a lot of fun too one standard and the other upgraded. 🤔
Stock, in the flesh, these looks surprisingly good! Love the suzuki brand. Check out what they are releasing in 2024, as per the Tokyo show. Loving the little scooters. Its a shame they dropped the 1L turbo mild hybrid, its an incredible engine and so fun.
Its lack of performance on-road is compensated with its off-road performance. Because it’s more an off-roader than an on-roader, making it differ from modern SUV’s who consider it is off-roading when they accidentally drive on grass. I too have a Jimny and it will be the last car I own because I am in love with its back to basic simplicity and its rugged attitude. I’ve made a lot of modifications to her (yes, she is a female by the name of the daughter I never fathered). She will take us to wherever we want and she will do it with ease and in pretty good comfort.
you should get the turbo and the suspension because it would get undrivable at speedways, the mud terrains over the normal for road gives you the compromise offroad
You could definitely tune that turbo mod so it is more helpful off road, which it probably already is seeing the torque. If it was any more powerful then itd be more like what you mentioned - just explosive power useless outside of maybe dirt track racing or something lol. But lower power overall but more torque than standard makes sense. The suspension setup and tires/track width could be setup more ideally for off road (or on-road i suppose too.) Wider fenders, tires, for all four or just rear etc. I assume the dampers have more off road settings too. And Im curious how the costs break down - seems quite high for turbos tunes and suspension, but that interior could be wildly expensive lol
You could just supercharge your Jimny instead. So half-way between NA and turbo, you'll still get more power without the troublesome turbo threshold. Retains the quirkiness of jimny without the anaemic power
I live on Madeira these days and Europe has a 1.5 turbo diesel version which I have and it makes way more sense than the 1.3 petrol and it's much better off road with loads more torque. They're good little cars.
8.86sec 0-60 in a Jimny is insane!😅 But the ganges to the suspension, the slight lift and tires are worth it. The changes to the engine (longlivety), interior, the sticker madness and painted grille? No definitely not worth it. But still a nice result!

Whats the long turm wear and tear on the engine by adding that turbo, this is a question that I would be asking myself. I got a jimny and SZ5 and only mod ive done is bigger tyres to give me more grip in the off roading.
I think if it was modified with a strong turbo to reach 240 horsepower it would be great, also maybe some interior modifications such as increasing insulation, also adjusting the distance from the ground so that you do not feel the road as much like luxury cars
That turbo sounds awesome! 60k on a jimmy that’s not the top speck though. Thank you for your honest review though Matt. I think I will have to nip into the show room and see it.
Mat, get the turbo in yours at least, the improve in acceleration is pretty good for that small All terrain, and just add some stiffer anti roll bars, I think that should be worth it 😅

All performance parts and exterior modifications come out to 6,500, so they are charging 33.5k for that terrible quality interior and some stickers LOL. Bilstein lift kit- $850,Eibach Performance Spring Kit- $350, 5 APIO WILDBOAR X 16" Wheels- $900, 5 BFGoodrich All-Terrain T/A KO2- $1,000, GReddy Bolt-On Turbo Kit for Suzuki Jimny- $3,300, GReddy Oil Cooler for Bolt-On Turbo Kit for Suzuki Jimny- $524, GReddy ATF Cooler for Bolt-On Turbo Kit for Suzuki Jimny- $480, GReddy Oil Sump for Bolt-On Turbo Kit for Suzuki Jimny- $340. That turbo sounds awesome! 60k on a jimmy that’s not the top speck though. Thank you for your honest review though Matt. I think I will have to nip into the show room and see it.
Mat, get the turbo in yours at least, the improve in acceleration is pretty good for that small All terrain, and just add some stiffer anti roll bars, I think that should be worth it 😅
I think like you said if you have the money and it doesn't spend more time in the mud than on the road, I would have all the mods done cause I do love the Jimny there such cool little jeeps, have to say that twisted version is epic 👌👍
All of that is $7,750 USD, so 6,400 pounds.
Mat has such a soft spot for the Suzuki Jimny. For fun's sake!!!
Long time ago here in Australia some put tuned Mazda rotary engines into earlier incarnations of the Jimny making them very fast and dangerous.
i was expecting "furious" at the end 😅😂
holly cow, that's a serious of bit of kit on the wind screen......
Whyyyy cant the US have a Jimny! It looks some much fun
Great video Mat!😸
