Had mine for three years now. Agree with both space issue and driving on a high speed. Making 110km on a rainy road is scary :), it's aquaplaning and you have to drop to 80-90. Side wind is another issue - strong blows might force you to change lanes without your will. But I still love this car and will not change as long as it's running.

Great vid. I’ve got a 24. And done about 20 000 all terrain k and I love it. Obviously since being an owner I’ve watched hundreds of vids but a lot of stuff you can only find out by being an owner. I’m so glad you showed the exact same snorkel I’ve been umming and erring about for a few months now. I’m definitely going to skip it. Tbh. I’ve done a lot of mud/ water off roading and I haven’t needed a snorkel yet. So I think unless you’re the kind of person that doesn’t mind getting wet seats. Jimnys can cope without one ✊😎

If I have to say one thing to anyone that's interested in a Suzuki Jimny: Be prepared to live with a kei car.
The Jimny is quite possibly the closest you can get to buying a Japanese Kei car brand new outside of Japan and so you have to basically live with the quirks and the fun of driving a kei car. It's literally just the kei-compliant JB64 with some wider fenders and bigger engine.
I've had mine for two years now and I've used it both off-road and as a city car and I got to say, I'm more than happy with it. The tiny size pretty much made it a breeze to park when I use it as my daily car to drive to work. When I had the suspension upgraded and the tires replaced with something wider, there was a definite improvement on highway handling, so tires and suspension should definitely be on top of the list of anyone's "first upgrades" regardless if they ever even plan to off-road it or not.

Great 1 year review. I've owned an XL 5 door for about 6 months now and I love it, despite all its qwerks. The only other annoyance I have from what you've outlined is all the rattles inside. When you're revving about 3000 rpm windows (when partially open) and dash rattle. Not sure if you have the same issue? Apart from that no issues. I plan on doing a lift soon also. Snorkel I'm undecided. I like the stainless ones from Fab Fabrications or Meredith Metalworks but they are pricey.

@spirro78 That's awesome! I was thinking the 5 door must be a little bit better on the highway than the short wheelbase ? How does it perform on those rougher roads at highway speeds? I am thinking to buy 4 doors jimny better with space, but seeing some honest reviews from Jimmy owners now making kind of thinking 1000 times.
    1- weak engine.
2- air noise and cause of boxy design.
3- engine and differential high noise cause of high RPM.
4- AC isn't good in summer and have to keep fan speed on 2 or 3 and lack of having AC for back passengers.
5- small fuel tank 400 KM max.

I used to run a remote ecotourism centre in north Western Australia. We had lots of corrugated roads and had Landcruiser troopies which of course handled it all pretty well. I tried a Suzuki Jimny on those roads and it didn’t work well. It was super hard to control and the car felt like it would shake to pieces. I figured this was because those corrugating were made by the dynamics of larger vehicles moving over the roads and this didn’t harmonise too well with that shorter wheel base. Either way, the experience taught me that these cars are pretty cute and probably good for some rural and off road experiences but not for tackling anything which gets too serious.

I had same issue with snorkel when converting to snorkel stainless pipe connector. I tightened down all bolts (did not fix it). What worked is installing rubber pads where the snorkel meets the fender (not the windshield pillar) to stop the rattle. Coil springs oon a Jimny, now we talking. Anybody buy the stock standard turd might as well buy a 1984 model. New Jimny's are rediculously priced and come with leaf springs. Guessing Suzuki just copies a SJ410 and fitted a larger engine. What a let dopwn.

May i ask what the lithium jump starter cost is USD? Thanks How often have you used it. I purchased one I don't know 2-3 years ago purchased a new vehicle was out in the bush I past out left my lights on. In the morning my battery was totally flat I was excited remembered my new lithium jump started and I had fully charged. It didn't even turn the engine over once. It was a 2.2 l turbo diesel motor.

Hi Nick , I had a 2007 Jimny and drove it all over the high country here in Victoria and did the Simpson and lots of outback trips 1000’s of kilometres it was a great little vehicle. I just wanted to ask about your Izuzu. I don’t have any friends who own one to ask. I want to buy a 2016/17 Dmax . I wondered if you still feel happy with yours, I’ve watched your videos on the few problems but overall has it been reliable now the bugs are ironed out so to speak and would you still buy another one . I’ve got 25 k to spend on a 2WD Ute and they seem to be the lesser of 4 evils. Thanks for posting your great videos.

@AndyL940 That's awesome! Go the Jimny 😀 As for the Isuzu, it's such a nice vehicle to drive. I have had a lot of issues with it though. The water pump just started to leak as well at 136k so can't say I've had a great run with reliability.

Honestly how can you get excited about a Suzuki gimney? OK even as a business I just could not get excited enough to fit lights or filters or speak on TV give me a Porsche 911 turbo or a land cruiser or anything that has a decent engine had some clearance. Maybe at your age I could get into it. Its not nice getting old.

For all that they lack, they're cheap, fun and put a smile on your face. And they sip fuel.
