    Hey everyone! Thanks for liking this video and subscribing to my channel. Also, I wanted to let you know I trimmed out an error in this video, it was to do with the off-road angles for the Jimny XL.
    Here are the correct ones:
    Approach angle - 36 degrees (three-door - 37deg)
    Breakover angle - 24 degrees (three-door - 28deg),
    Departure angle - 47 degrees (three-door - 49deg)
    Ground clearance: 210mm (same as three-door)
    Turning circle - 11.4m (three-door - 9.8m).
    THANK YOU!

    The Jimny has excellent tyres, they perform very well on sealed roads and unmade tracks. The Jimny with these tyres outperforms many other cars with tyres suited only to off road use. Breaking distance increases with mud and all terrain tyres. The long wheel base increases road holding with cross winds and increases comfort. The Jimny is intended to be a very small 4WD car, ideal for commuting around town and an escape machine on the week-ends. In Japan it was introduced with a 600cc engine for fuel economy, The current 1500cc engine is more powerful than the original 2 litre engine fitted to the WW2 jeep. It's not about speed, it's about access and thoroughfare in difficult country with poor tracks. That is why the Jimny comes with 4WD and low range.

      I disagree on the tyres. They’re not excellent. They’re adequate.

      I guess G Wagons are also city cars as well as Disco Landrovers, It seems a shame to corrall a thoroughbred (3 door Jimny) meant for the bush and give it a diet of tar and cement instead of rivers, streams, mountains and deserts? These guys who do presentations really know nothing about Jimny, I am suprised he didnt mention high reving? Suzuki Motors are high revving motors and happy to sit quietly on 4,100 rpm all day on a freeway humming along like a humming bird

    • @jamesgowing3856
      @jamesgowing3856 Год назад

      The car could live in the country of course. Most country road have tar these days so that is the same in the city. The main issue with this car is over taking power which is needed on 100 km speed roads.@@ricglass14

    What we've noticed in the jimny is that while they increased the length of this car, they didn't adjust the steering. So the tight turning radius that the 2 door had (4.9m) is now lost. Jimny XL has a much more annoying 5.7m turning radius.

    Thanks for review. Why are motoring reviewers still comparing the Jimny to a "family" car. I do not think that Suzuki are thinking of a family commuter. It is designed and marketed as an OFFROAD adventure vehicle. That is what it is and nothing else. If a person wants a Suzuki for the family, there are many other models available to suit requirements.
    So please reviewers STOP with the negatives re space, electronic gadgets and other things that family cars have. A classic example of this is mentioning "no digital speedo" How rediculous that you had to mention that.

    We looked at the Jimny but for the price you didn’t get much and the need to get off road was high as we already had a Ranger, we brought in a Hustler as the spec was way higher with better safety and being a hybrid. Hello everyone. I'm from India. I own a Jimny 5 door automatic. While I'm overall happy with the car, there are a few drawbacks as well. I feel 40 litre petrol tank is too small for a vehicle that gives approx. 9.8 kmpl mileage on hill roads. One gets an effective range of 350-380 km only. It becomes a real problem when one goes to remote corners of the Himalayas. These areas often lack gas stations. Another negative point I would like to mention is that it does feel a bit underpowered on steep hill roads. Most of the buttons and the gear selector are not backlit. The rear seat seat belt warning is another nuisance. One needs to keep these belts buckled even when the rear seats are unoccupied in order to silence the alarm. At this price point in India, there are other similar SUVs, that offer better value for money. Probably that is the reason the hype around Jimny died down pretty soon after its launch. Now, Suzuki is offering price cuts to boost sales. Yes, I must agree that its small size is a huge advantage in congested cities and narrow roads.

    • @therightcar
      @therightcar  10 месяцев назад +1

      Um, I would say that the safety is not going to be as good in this car as it is in the Tank. Fundamentally, this is smaller and lighter and has far less technology.
      The 3 door version only scored three stars in ANCAP a few years back and it’s gotten even harder to score well in that testing, so I wouldn’t be surprised if this was a 2 star score. Or worse.
      But still safer than some ten year old used cars.
      May I ask - why a 4x4? Does your daughter go bush camping or serious off-roading?
      If not, or even if she does go a little bit off road, a Subaru Forester or Crosstrek would be a better choice IMO.

      She basically wants what all the “cool” kids want at the moment, a mid ‘90s Pajero! But that’s a bad idea. So this is close as we get.
      I agree. The safety stuff really bothers me. Especially as she’s a very young driver.
      She does go camping a fair bit but drives to Melbourne from Adelaide more than camping. She wants a rugged car for the look but I despise CVT engines as we’ve had issues with them. Doesn’t leave many options but I dread her having to replace a dead CVT for $10k in six years.
      I’m going to try and push her to a Mazda CX 5? Boring but safe. Other than that it’s really only Honda, VW or the overpriced Skoda in that size range?
      It’s hard because there are just so many huge utes and huge SUVs that it makes driving in a sedan like we do currently really frustrating because you’re just seeing the huge car in front and nothing else!

    Yeah I got the 2022 3dr manual version.
    I spent $20k in mods just to get it to the type of car they should have released from the factory floor.
    If you’re not going to modify this car then for sure you’ll sell it within 2 years of buying it.
    Standard version has terrible fuel range with only a 40ltr fuel tank, the standard suspension is seriously dangerous, the windscreen is a stone chip magnet so be prepared for oncoming trucks throwing those stones your way.
    The tyres are ridiculously small but understand you’ll use more fuel putting on bigger tyres.
    Like I said if your buying to modify for an unbeatable 4wd for play and ok daily that looks amazing then this is for you.
    If your buying with no intentions to modify and no real plans to use off road then chances are you’ll be so disappointed with your purchase you’ll either trade it in or sell it off before you add 10k on the clock.
    So how do I feel about my jb74, after completing all the mods I love it.
    Sure the constant stone chip broken windscreens drive me crazy but as a daily drive and weekend offroad adventure seeker it’s perfect.

      I've got a 3 litre V6, and going from 12l/100km to 7l/100km on fuel consumption more than makes up for it IMHO. I feel terrible about the waste of my current vehicle. I've been tossing up replacement options, and I've more or less decided on a Jimny 5-door auto. Hybrids are great but the mechanical complexity is a concern, as is the lack of ground clearance and decent 4WD setups they have. I don't do anything insane, but I do like to get outdoors and getting to the places I want to be for bushwalks, camping and the like does need something reasonably durable, and the Jimny does seem to be one of the few options that does that without too much techwank or a giant engine.
