I think of it in terms of say....librarians. If there was an "Order 67" that wiped out all the librarians on Earth in their library, there would still be LOTS of retired librarians or people who quit the job and later became teachers, florists, stay at home parents, etc....
I think the purpose of Order 66 was to eliminate the Emperor's chief rival: the INSTITUTION of Jedi, as an organization. The Order could decide, organize, and challenge Palpatine, but single Jedi living as farmers or tribesman or nomads or sheriffs would probably mind their own business until Palpatine could safely track them down and rub them out from the comfort and safety of his throne room.
Still...i agree with you, there are just TOO many Jedi in these stories. They could just repurpose one of thousands of good stories,. villains, and non-jedi from old episodes of Kung Fu, Gunsmoke, I dream of Jeanie, the Smurfs, Spiderman and his Amazing Friends, Columbo, or ANY TV show from the past 60 years. The universe is not just limited to Mandalorians and Bounty Hunters. There are photojournalists, vigilantes, Book of Eli travellers, revengers, avengers, and medics they could build entire episode arcs around. It’s been said that force users can’t actually mind read, but they can sense intent and emotion which is something Vader and Maul have been shown to do often. It’s much more likely that Baylan was able to sense Sabine’s emotions such as her desire to save Ezra and her sorrow at the loss of her family on mandalore

I agree that emotions are probably an easy way to see into someone's thoughts. But in any case, Baylan has a particularly strong ability to do something of this ilk.

@@Felixxfb If the Fantasy Flight Star Wars RPG is any authoritative material to go by, they can read surface thoughts, and let's face it, our minds are noisy chatterboxes especially when we're under stress and have something which we feel strongly about that is always nagging on our minds.
There's several examples of this. The first being when Vader learned about Luke having a twin sister -- that's a specific detail which you can't divine from emotion alone. Then there's the scene in Mandalorian S2 where Grogu and Ahsoka had their silent conversation -- and that's where we learned the Child's name was Grogu -- something you can't just divine from emotions, but through the exchange of surface thoughts.
For Jedi, that's the limit, surface thoughts. However, Dark Side Users have employed (painful) mental probes to learn things from their victim's minds. The first time we see this is Kylo Ren using it on Poe, and later (humiliatingly unsuccessfully) with Rey. We also see Darth Maul use it to pry information about Ahsoka from a captured clone trooper (Jesse).

He knows more than hes letting on. I think he has his own agenda here. I DO NOT believe for one second Baylan has turned to the Dark side.... Just playing along till he gets what HE wants. Trojan Horsing it maybe
and even at the end Lil Kanan says "mom, I have a bad feeling" so we know he IS force sensitive. Which is fine.... its the whole desperate push to make Sabine a Jedi I do NOT like.... She was a badaass in Rebels, ESPECIALLY once she learned how to use the Saber aAND was gifted the Jedi Repelling Cuffs. Which she has yet to use ONCE

Not how that works, the abilities can be wielded by any force user if learned. Anakin knows about force lightning, his suit stops it. Force lightning is used by Jedi of old order. They never were sith. Luke learned many skills associated in light and dark. Discovered the difference was flow of force verses forcing the force by emotion.

I view it as a an order of magnitude. Moments before it happens the person is sensitive. Minutes before the person has had some training. Hours before the person has practiced for a significant period of time. Anything beyond the person is considered a master. This does however allow for when the force chooses to show something even to those just sensitive. A person could be gifted, such as Ezra, but without the training they will not be able to make sense of the force precognition.

Ah, but Jedi were right that foresight is dangerous, especially to writers, it is hard to balance it out, it must be bloor, or limited to some single moments, and not to what lead to them, in that way, it could add additional layer of weight to the scenes, an feeling that everything is clicking together.

I would also add Jedi Master Syfo Dias to the list because he was having visions of the Clone Wars years ahead of time, the Council feared his visions and were likely to lock him up in a Jedi Prison if not for a woman who became Syfo Dias master and took him under her wing.

What a fantastic take on Baylin Skolla and his character, I love this video. He is one of the most interesting and mysterious character in Star Wars since Kylo Ren/Ben Solo and Rey and their dyad connection in the Sequels. I Hati is very interesting and mystirous too. I can't wait to see what we'll learn about them in the remaining episodes.

Bit of a tangent and not particularly to Star Wars but I find foresight to be silly in fiction. Narratively it doesn’t make sense to have a character that can tell you the end of the story at the beginning so it’s always this well many possibilities but usually wrong in some way. Essentially it’s just foreshadowing by a different name.

I like the theory. Not sure he was able to see the entire Order 66 before it happened; however, I believe he would have seen clone troopers executing it around him before it occurred. Allowing him to seek shelter, and then having to embrace the dark side out of necessity, or perhaps after the veil of the dark side dropped, he was able to see what Anakin became, and the outcome from the fall of the Jedi Order. Someone with this ability who knew someone was coming for him, would be difficult to kill.

I disagree about Palpatine. His visions seemed shortsighted. Certain things may have happened in his vision, but he couldn't see far enough ahead to see how things got undone. How did he not expect Vader to turn on him? How did he not prevent a rebellion when he knew it would happen? Even Yoda could tell Palpatine was only seeing what he wanted to see and not necessarily the truth.

Do you suppose that it is through Foresight that Baylan knew what happened to Anakin? I would think it was either that or he simply connected the dots of Anakin's supposed death and Darth Vader's sudden appearance.
Though it's always possible Disney will retcon some sort of encounter between the two of them at some point or another.

    • @stanleydodds9
      @stanleydodds9 Год назад +1

Darth Vader has met a lot of jedi. In a new hope, Obi-Wan's description of Vader is that he helped the empire hunt down and destroy the jedi. Some survived the encounter; we know Ezra, Kanan, and Ahsoka all did so. I think it's entirely possible that Baylan saw Anakin's future, but it's also possible that he encountered Vader and lived. "Few would live to see what he became" sort of could imply that he's one who lived, literally seeing what he became.

More over, the auto jedi or sith makes no sense. Ahsoka is no true jedi and considering this guy clearly was not trained under the rule of two he is no true sith. I don't think everything in star wars needs a scientific explanation - it's fantasy.

To be honest maybe in the next video you could talk about General Rahm Kota as a Jedi.? Just thought I would point that out to be honest they need to make Galen Marek Starkiller they should do a show. Maybe a what-if I think that would be really cool I love the forced Unleashed games I wish they would come out with a third one using Unreal Engine 7 my God I could imagine what a Jedi like that could do.

I don't think it needs to be that complicated. I wouldn't be surprised if many Jedi walked away from the order in the past. Especially as the Clone Wars began. If they weren't technically Jedi to begin with (i.e. at the time of Order 66). They likely were not hunted down. Nor would they have been around any clone troopers at that moment anyways. Dooku was a bit unique in that he was a well known Jedi Master when he left. Ahsoka left and got no murals. If I had to guess, Baylan had grown disillusioned with the Jedi either before the Clone Wars, or during it.
