Circumstance was not on our side and we broke up. We lived hundreds of miles apart and yet sometimes we would just bump into each other. Every time that happened it seemed nothing had changed. The love was there even though we couldn't be together. Time passed and I learned we would never bump into each other again. He died young. It was an unexpected ending. Listening to anything by the Stylistics reminds me of him. I listen to the track I mentioned often and I still miss him.
When they were coming out with these masterpieces I lived in Germany and that was a very long time ago. To this very day, I still find their music to be some of the best ever and it never gets old to me. I would just say that they were in my opinion, one of the greatest bands of all time. The Stylistics ruled the early 70's with the soul ballads. Their first 3 lps were all great. People make the World go round, Stop, Look, Listen to your heart, Betcha by Golly Wow, You're a Big Girl Now, You are Everything was their debut Lp. Then Betcha by Golly Wow and Break up to Make up, then You Make me feel brand new. All monsters. But they had a 13 yr run. First Impressions, another great one on Mercury records. They also did the best rendition of My Funny Valentine.

The 70s was full of great music from rock, pop, progressive, blues, rhythm and blues. We may never see a time like it again. Blessed.
The Stylistics ruled the early 70's with the soul ballads. Their first 3 lps were all great. People make the World go round, Stop, Look, Listen to your heart, Betcha by Golly Wow, You're a Big Girl Now, You are Everything was their debut Lp. Then Betcha by Golly Wow and Break up to Make up, then You Make me feel brand new. All monsters. But they had a 13 yr run. First Impressions, another great one on Mercury records. They also did the best rendition of My Funny Valentine.
I still remember the words to all these songs film the 60s and 70s, and love to sing along when y’all are reacting to them! ❤😊
Producer writer and arranger Thom Bell was the magician behind the Stylistics success. He later produced the Spinners.
The Stylistics was in reality lead singer Russell Tomkins Jr and the backing vocals were Philly writers and producers Thom Bell, Bunny Sigler Kenny Gamble and Leon Huff. The group who appeared on TV and in live shows were hired parts!
The Diana Ross & Marvin Gaye cover version was a massive UK Top 5 pop hit in early 1974 but was never released in the USA.
The original Wonder Years tv show played this song for Kevin and Winnie’s love scene it was beautiful. One of my favorite groups reminds me of my first love.❤️
Actually they danced to it in the episode "Double Double Date" and ended up getting back together. Love scene was a later episode.

Nothing better than Old School 70's harmonies, Stylistics, Blue Magic, Dramatics, Delfonics, Chi lites, O'Jays Manhattans, and of course the Temptations, Supremes and 4 Tops of the 60's. These groups bring a sound genre from Motown and Philadelphia that will never be touched.
Each of the great R&B groups of the 60s and 70s had their own unique sound. No one ever confused one group for another. Great singers,vocals great song writers and great music! Stop!

You're right. Barry Gibbs liked the Stylistics, the Delfonics, etc. (so he said). The Bee Gees music in the 70's sounded alot like "TSOP" groups from back then.

I grew up on these songs, but i couldn't tell you who sang which songs. All those groups melt into one group, songs i heard on the soul station when I was a kid.
