"Like notes to a song out of time" - Kills me every time. Vacationing out on the bay with family and friends when this song came out. Will always be one of my most cherished memories. Swimming, fishing, BBQ chicken and hamburgers, sitting around the fire telling stories. Ahhh... 1974!

The 70s was a great decade for music. Those were the days of my teens and early twenties and it was the best time of my life. There were so many great groups, but my favourites were the Stylistics, Tavares, the Chi lites. But my favourite singer of all time sadly never saw the 70s. The brilliant Sam Cooke.

When we remember music from our earlier years it almost always comes with a physical connection in our mind. Did the music playing now make you dance, make you melancholy, maybe give you romantic thoughts? Also, where were you when you listened to it? In your bedroom, alone or not? At a good friends home, a friend that you now miss? Or perhaps at a club, where there was dancing, a few drinks? These songs from groups like the Stylistics are written to be danced to! Get up close and personal, feel the body heat, smell the perfume or cologne, look at your partners lips….the night is young, the lights are low, the heady scent of romance fills your thoughts. As you sway to the music how can you not be feeling romantic? THATS what this music is for! Now, Ashley, imagine yourself in that last scenario. That is what an older generation remembers when they hear songs like this. Ahhh, memories…..

My chorus teacher picked this song for our class to sing at some assembly. I remember that we just could never get that die away. Sound at the end of their phrases. I don’t think she should have made us try to copy the artist so closely. She should have rearranged it, so that it would work for a chorus, & a high school one that, lol. I’m still embarrassed 50 years later. Fortunately, the experience didn’t ruin the song for me, I still love it!😊

This music was so powerful, then even made a elevator version. In addition, it will feature real orchestral music ... meaning Violins and Flutes. This is from the late great Thom Bell and Linda Creed.
The architect of Philly Soul and he died last year... I'm so disappointed because i wanted him interview.
He wrote music for all three groups, whose music will stand the test of time. There are three groups from Philadelphia: Delfonics, The Stylistics, and The Spinners.
All 3 music was played in the elevator throughout the 70's and 80's. He was a giant and Linda Creed what a beauty.

You can hear how "classic" soul music from yesterday had men 'wanting' to express their Love, whereas with some of today's music, not so much. Something in society changed and the expression of Love seems have taken a backseat.
