The Chi-Lites were an American R&B/soul vocal group in the 60's-70's. Their biggest hits were "Have You Seen Her" & "Oh Girl". They had some other songs but not as popular.
This song ... THIS song ... is the first song I recall as a young 10 year old boy in 1971 ! I had a record player and the first 45 I bought (was given ... I really don't recall) was this. I'm a 63 year old white boy who grew up in the suburbs of Richmond Virginia and this is the one song that evokes such strong, strong memories of my childhood. When I hear this song I recall exactly what my bedroom looked like, from the blue shag carpet, the bunk beds, the 5 gallon fish tank in the corner with Molly fish and babies, the record player on the dark black console and the winter lights reflecting off the winter snow. I'm looking out my window singing THIS song. I love music and a lot of groups, but it is the Chi-Lites, it is Have You Seen Her, that will AWAYS be the ONE ! I thank them for such memories !
Oh Ashley, this is just one of the many amazing groups or singers we jammed to back in the day. Other songs by them you'll like are Oh Girl, I Want to Pay You Back, and A Letter To Myself. I'm really enjoying this journey with you Ashley. And there's so much more to go.
Mens back then from my generation treated all women with the most optimum respect because in my case I was born from a woman and for me that is the most precious gift given from God to us men 🙏🙏
Straight up Classic from the Chi-Lites and a little tidbit here. MC hammer did a remake rap version style. I think it went to number 1# Definitely worth listening to
Ashley you need a "Brown Liquor" playlist. Back in the day, that's what we called this particular genre of music (Brown Liquor Music). Back when a brother's heart was broken and all he could do was sit at home, listen to some music, sip on some whiskey, and maybe let a tear come out. It's still a love song, but a lost love.
I had the honor of meeting them in the Marine Corps at the USO in Okinawa, Japan. They performed and gave us autographed pictures. Afterwards, we talked and reminised about Chicago.
@@TheOfficialAshleyReacts Having grown up in the 70’s - 80’s I can tell you that so many of us used the lyrics from so many love songs to write letters to that special girl or guy you were interested in😅🤗 Our songs when heard today takes us back to exactly what we were doing when we heard it🤣😂 That’s why we always say 🤗THE GOOD OLD DAYS🤗 Love Your Channel🥰❤️👍🏾💯
Great reaction Ashley! I'll also throw my vote in for you to react to their Oh Girl. Also Wake Up Everybody by Harold Melvin and the Blue Notes please!
0:26 if you really want to react to-a man’s lost for love try reacting to Terry Huff and Special Delivery “ I destroyed your love” prt 1&2 and “The lonely One”
Great reaction as usual Ashley. Another great 80's slow jam is Gary Taylor "Tease Me" and Confunkshun also has another slow jam call "I'm leaving baby (Live) (Audio) version is the best! 👍
Your setup reproduces incredibly. I’m listening to your vid in surround sound, and it sounds amazing. Bass is sweet, highs are crispy. Nice job…🙌🏽 👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽
You were correct Ashley, it's pronounced: (SHY-lights), Good reaction! (and Stop hittin' me on my forehead with drinking receptacles, for I am but a man, NOT a punching-bag!)
😂😂First time I heard this song was on a Sinbad comedy on HBO when I was about 6 or 7 around 1991. Mann memories 😊 Edit: Oh and I see you Ms. Ashley 🫣 and I’m not thirsty thank you very much ❤
The face you're making right now, that's the stink face we made back in the day, this is one of the groups that had me writing poetry at 14 years old, them and the Chi-Li, Stylists,The Manhattan and my favorite song writing William ( Smokey) Robinson.I have poetry on a site called " The Lost Poet" and it's because of the aforementioned, that folks are liking and loving my poems.
Sorry to have to say this, but it's on my cheat and I fell that I must. The Men of today are confused. It is so sad, but true. This is not what the adults of my generation intended for you. Don't get too cocky now ladies, because the confusion goes both ways. Yes, I said it! It's time to get right and get back together.
'Oh Girl' is The Chi-lites signature song that hit Number 1 on both the Pop and R&B charts for the group from the Southside of Chicago.

Gorgeous tenor vocal. Gives me chills. All the vocals are amazing on this song. Grew up on this, maybe 7th grade. Loved it all my life.
This music is timeless, will last forever.
