Best SKX upload I've watched in ages, excellent content and presentation.
The SKX was my entry and exit point to mechanical watches. My first automatic was a 009 in 2018. I've owned about 50 other watches over the years and now primarily wear a 007J. It's a fantastic watch that is deserving of the hype.
I bought the SKX007 in like-new condition for $500 CAD ($385 USD) about a month ago and I could not be happier. I tried the 5KX, the DressKX, and this watch’s only rival, the ISO certified Citizen NY0040, and none of them did it for me. The fact that the SKX is discontinued only makes it more desirable in my eyes. It’s not going to be a desk diver or a safe queen, it’s going around the world with me, and it’s the only watch I own. I have a decent watch collection, and over the years, I realized I'm almost always wearing this one and my OG square G-Shock. Together they would make the perfect 2 watch collection to cover every possible situation.
Having owned all the SKX models throughout my life. The 007 always was my favourite, I gave it away and even though I don’t regret giving it away, I’ve always missed that 007.
I still wear mine. It’s genuinely one of my favorites. It’s so 90’s but cats forget the design can be traced back to the 80’s.

I recently ordered an SKX for myself, the 013 for my smaller wrists, and I’m so looking forward to making it my daily wearer. Love the heritage and utility of this watch. Thanks for the video!

@@MisterTurtleTime I think it was a good choice, and one made at a good time to boot. I paid all told about $220 USD for my 013, via eBay. Unfortunately I have had to have the movement replaced recently, which cost me another $230 USD. However, these days it can be difficult to find an 013 (or any genuine SKX) in good shape for under $500 anyhow, so I’m happy with my purchase. It is the watch that I wear every day, and it is indeed a classic. I know a guy where I live who regular wears at Patek Philippe, and his collection not only includes a Rolex and a couple of Tudors, but also an SKX 007. It is truly a classic for any collection, and very easy to wear every day.

I’m a owner of it’s little brother the 013 and it was my grail. It’s a watch I’ll never let go of. Every time I put it on I still get the fizz on the inside. She’s not pristine anymore but the scuffs just show the love I have for it.

Have both the 007 and 009. Love them both and will never leave my watch collection. I also love the stock jubilee like bracelet. It is so comfortable and easy to wear.

As a minimalist that really enjoys watches I settled for a simple 3 watch collection: SKX007, SARB033 and Casio AW168WG. You are right, the OEM bracelet is awesome!
i've been wearing its cousin (the 5kx). It's not a certified diver, but it's still plenty robust for what I use it for. I'm an IT consultant, so a desk diver is more of what I need anyways. With fewer and fewer people wearing mechanical watches, having the exhibition caseback has inspired many conversations. I know it gets a lot of hate because it doesn't check all of the watch collector boxes, but it still has the SKX charm that I like. Hacking and handwinding are nice, and I actually enjoy the push/pull crown for everyday use. Great video!
I work in hardware myself, it's pretty cool seeing mechanical watches in an Apple Watch dominated field. I absolutely agree the 5KX still has all of the charm and gives people an entry point that the SKX007 can no longer full-fill new.

@@JeeGee114 the 5kx actually has this cool revolutionary feature where you can take it off and reveal the back to anyone you wish.
I just picked up the SXX013 version in nearly new condition for $280 and I love it. Such a beautiful timeless piece.

nice video! the skx was also my first watch, mine has survived a lot and still runs great!. added a speedy pro saph after 6 years of wearing the skx daily. of course the skx is still regularly on the wrist :)
And each piece is tested for water resistance. It was my entry. Thanks for the video, I think I'll put the 009 back on rotation. Also I just got me Chuck 70's, you were so right!

The SKX is outstanding value. All that is missing is the hand winding feature which I have on my Seiko PADI diver watch. But the SKX is slimmer, lighter and more comfortable to wear.
Still my one watch collection and I have very little desire to expand the collection again just yet. Admittedly, I do however rotate through various natos, the original hollow link bracelet and my MiLTAT Super-O bracelet for some variety 😊

Charming nostalgic review! I skipped on the SKX when it was available (wish I hadn't) but I think I have something even better: the more elegant, more modern, more versatile, more wearably sized DressKX 61 plus the 1997 Citizen Promaster Diver with its signature gritty, dark, almost military retro tool watch style and its superior (hacking, handwinding, accurate) movement. €350 in total. I love both.
I’ve rocked a Casio G shock for 4 years now. Idk why but this watch got to me. Just ordered one on eBay.

I am so happy my wife fulfilled my wedding wish and got me this one. I modded it extensively and it's been with me through all facets of life. Not that I could not afford more expensive ones but this one is just the perfect blend. I particularly love that the crown sits at 4 to not poke into the back of my hand. I hope it stays with me for life and does not give up on me as that I can give it to my son. Love this watch to bits.

I wore an SKX daily for about 4 years. I no longer have it since I stripped the crown tube and sold it but it will always remind me of the simpler times of my watch collecting…..

I've had my SKX013 for years and I still wear it regularly. I love the jangly bracelet. It's never let me down.

Even though Seiko discontinued the SKX line, the SRPD line which replaces it fills the void as the gateway for the "getting into the market/hobby" consumer. While some initially complained that the newer models lacked an ISO dive rating, I'm willing to bet that 98.7% of those were desk divers whose watch will never see water beyond a hand-washing. And if you absolutely need a dive rating on a Seiko, they have myriad choices in their catalog to fit the bill.

Havent heard about the SKX for some time. This watch takes the most wristtime in my collection. In some ways it feels more vintage than my speedy (probably the bracelet).

my 007 is about 18 years old … been wearing it to the office daily simply because it was the only presentable and a no nonsense looking watch that I own … the other one being a G Shock for rugged activities … best wishes …
bought my first for $169 16 years ago, bought another used off of ebay for $179 at auction 5 years ago. I still have both. They'll go to my son-in-laws when I no longer need them I figure that they'll be around for a generation or two. Great watches. and yes they have been known to start conversations.

I prefer my skx033 over my skx007. It looks classier and easier to wear due the thinner profile and the 3 o clock crown position. The 40mm diameter too is the perfect watch size for me. I wear the skx033 daily while the skx007 is when I'm out in the sea or swimming pool.

Hey man a quick question...inside the dial there is this diver's 200 written...every watch in youtube have a red divers200 but my watch diver's 200 is in white coulour so...is this a fake.
had been looking for a SKX013 for awhile but eventually gave up. Still regret not buying one at retail price. A diver isn't on my priority list but when it comes time I'll be considering the Marathon MSAR automatic arctic edition.

I had and still have skx779 black monster as a first "proper" watch. While I love the design and finish there is no way around the fact that it is a bad timekeeping device and painfully impractical to use because of the 7s26 movement which doesn't hand wind and keeps bad time.Moreover, its heavy to wear. I wear a tissot quartz instead on a daily basis.
Since being discontinued, along with the North American variant SKX173/A35.these are now headed upwards of 350.00-500.00
