    It’s impossible for EVERY park/trip to be a perfect experience, thank you for sharing the struggles too. We took a family vacation to glacier in 2017 and it was beautiful. This was before we got a camper so we stayed in Kalispell at a hotel. My favorite so far is still Zion 👍🏼 I want to go back next summer for sure! Another fun video, thanks guys!

    I've been to glacier twice and am going again this summer. I've always gone as a backpacker, arriving by train Best way to go! You're fully immersed absolutely beautiful place. You don't need to take a gas guzzling/polluting small house there. The shuttles are wonderful, take you to all parts of the park, you can watch the scenery instead of white- knuckling it over the pass, and you're not polluting the environment. There are other reasons to go low profile but I'll quit here. Enjoy, don't destroy. ❤ 19:14

    95 to snow - yikes!! We hadn’t brought winter coats with us so we hit a good Will a few weeks ago in North Dakota and picked some up. It doesn’t look like Chris likes the idea of a travel trailer! I liked our small travel trailer - it was just so Easy. You guys are so squirrel-Ed - “there’s a Ferrell dog” “ there’s a motorcycle” - I love it and you are making me laugh so hard! I LOVE you are using a paper map - I bought an atlas (much to my hubbies amusement) because I had to have the paper maps to look at! There is just something different about being able to flip through the maps. We were sad to miss out on Glacier this time - had to get to a wedding but it’s on the list! I hope you have caught up on yo sleep girl! But the yawning was hysterical! You got some beautiful scenery footage!! Thanks for pushing through and sharing your full experience!

    I visited Glacier in late June 2016. I went from 98 in Rapid City SD, to cool & rainy for 2 of 3 days in Glacier. They had just opened Logan Pass. It was 35 up there and still had deep snow banks! I highly recommend reserving a Red Bus Tour if/when they're running. A cool way to see and learn a lot and get oriented to the best places in the park. Plus no issue parking anywhere. The day I drove myself around, many lots were full despite the rainy weather.

    You’re excited with me? Wow! We just got word that our LTV has a production date of December 4th! So excited! Last year, we rented an airstream class B to try it out. But we ended up feeling more comfortable to full time in the B+/C- ... five months to retirement and still young enough to enjoy it.

    • @IreneIronTravels
      @IreneIronTravels  3 года назад

      Happy soon to be retirement!😀 That's awesome to get the production date! We completely understand the allure of a B+ and when we are at a campsite for a couple weeks, that's when we really feel the "tightness" of a true B.

    Welcome to Washington! Yes, indeed it's still busy out there. We live on the Olympic Peninsula and spent a few days at Mount Rainier last weekend. Really busy on Saturday, but Sunday evening things settled down like in years past. Good for you guys slowing down and taking the time to visit Leavenworth. If you keep heading west across Washington, let me know if you have any questions. We have only lived on the Peninsula for 6 years, but we've experienced many wonderful places here. Thanks for all you do to educate us!

    • @russstamp5965
      @russstamp5965 3 года назад +1

      @@IreneIronTravels Sorry I missed this question but looks like I answered it in my comment on your last video. Unfortunately there are not many camping spots for this area listed on Campendium or iOverlander. But, the campgrounds at Mora and the Hoh are both decent and not too expensive (20 bucks). Looking at the tides, one thought would be to hit the Hoh early in the morning, then head over to Ruby Beach or Rialto for a sunset beach hike. Although, looking at the forecast, it may be hard to catch a sunset.

    GNP is definitely one of our favs. We did it 10 years ago in a VW Westfalia when our girls were only 8 & 11yo - an absolutely blast. If you make it back, do the Highline Trail hike from Logan Pass along the continental divide out to Granite Park Chalet and then spend a night or two - it is spectacular. 8 miles out and 4 miles back via The Loop trail.

    We did our 5,000 mile road trip to Glacier NP from Austin, TX and got there the day after Labor Day. It was tough with all the COVID restrictions!! We went to 5 national parks on our trip and Glacier was probably the worst, however we were able to make the most of it.
    You would have been fine on length for going to the sun. I took my 21.75’ crew cab dually pickup, width was much more concerning than length. They have some pretty hairy spots with not a lot of room between the drop off and the rock wall and drivers on the drop off side like to hug the yellow line.
    Thanks for sharing your story, sorry this one didn’t work out. Glacier is truly beautiful so...next time!

      That's a nice big trip! Fun. We agree that Glacier was heavily restricted this year and it was tough to fully enjoy. Good to know on your Dually making it no problem. We find the narrowness of the Sprinters to really help even if we are a tad long at almost 23 feet. NEXT TIME! 😀

    Glacier National Park is on my bucket list so this video has been very helpful. I have to agree that the absence of planning can result in a disaster. Yosemite is also a park that planning is necessary as I hear you have to have a ticket to even get in that park, if it is not closed due to fires! Can you tell me what you use for internet on the road and how it works for uploading videos. Thanks

    • @IreneIronTravels
      @IreneIronTravels  3 года назад

      Hey there, thanks for watching! We don't like to plan too much but it can definitely help. We went to Yosemite last year to see the giant sequoias and they are just something everyone needs to see in person! We use a unlimited Verizon plan that they no longer offer with a jetpack modem and a MIMO antenna attached to it. Pretty simple set up and it works great for all of our work needs and the uploads to RUclips are great.

    Here’s our August 2018 Glacier NP adventure.... I booked the last tiny home in St. Mary’s (eastern entrance) in March all of the other lodging was booked. Some places are fully booked a year in advance. We are traveling in a Corvette and my niece and her husband are in another car. We left Michigan and stayed in Bismarck the first night and visit Teddy Roosevelt’s NP the next morning.... 95-100 degrees. Stay in Great Falls the second night and after checking into the hotel around 10 pm, we check GNPs website and learn that the western half of the park is closed due to lightning strikes that started several forest fires. We arrived mid morning and checked out the visitor center at the entrance and at Logan’s pass, visited what we could, waterfalls, hikes, etc. and decided to depart a day earlier than planned and drive down to Yellowstone and visit what we could in a day, we left GNP at 4am and was in Yellowstone before noon. We left Yellowstone at dusk and drove most of the night to Gillette and then visited Devils Tower , Custer State Park, and western South Dakota before making the run for home. Now we need to go back to GNP and visit the western half. Maybe in 2022. Safe Travels.

    Love your videos. My current idea (after selling Airstream), is to take half the $$$ and build out a 7 x 20 cargo trailer and do it right. Although, I am not crazy towing, having your home set up after exploring is a plus. Installing locks and a good tracker, so if it is borrowed, I can find it... maybe. Maybe the truck can carry a RTT at the same time... we'll see. Oh, run to the Sun... no way I would try it with a Super Duty loaded with a 7 wide truck camper. I.m sure many towing mirrors are lost on that road.

    So a few comments, 1 it's nice to see you all don't get upset easily like drove to glacier and its closed or the road say 21 ft max ( in real life that means 25 LOL ) .2 when you all look at each other you can see you are still in love . nice to see that, as that is how I am with my wife, can't imagine life without her. I believe the key to living long and staying happy is keep the stress down and just live.

    Have been enjoying your adventures. Sorry for your mess-up with Glaciar N.P. As for the "get by" length restrictions on the Going to the Sun road, our Road Trek (similar to your Interstate) was "refused" ... and then the shuttle busses were the same Sprinter 3500 vans! (We paid for the "red car" tour for the trip over Going To The Sun Road and enjoyed ourselves.) "Shoulder season" (spring or fall) is always "iffy" for Glacier N.P. They take some time to dig out the road over the mountain in spring... and an early snow in the fall can shut them down (as you well know by now!)

      Hey Sel! Same cameras we have been using for a little while. The "current" scene in the back of van was our Sony A6400, but we were using a key light, because the van can be dark at times. If that was the scene you were talking about that's probably why it looked a little different. We also use the Sony for the front van scenes, but the light is usually pretty good up there. @@IreneIronTravels We did the Red Bus last summer for the first time, and it was a lot of fun. We started out with the top closed but after the first stop at Lake McDonald Lodge, the driver rolled the top back, because she said it was now above 40 and that's when she opens the roof. And it was freaking freezing the rest of the way to Many Glacier. So be prepared. Fortunately, it had warmed up considerably by the time we drove back to Apgar. Only bad thing was that my favorite Soggy Dollar Bar hat blew off my head and is probably still sailing around St. Mary's Lake. Hang on to your hats.

    Another good one. Thanks. You guys need an attitude adjustment! (No you don't, of course.) I've had my Interstate GT for about a month and a half now, took a Labor Day weekend shakedown trip up to Mammoth (June Lake), hightailed it to Lake Tahoe the next morning to a far better campground where we met a friend in his Class A. I was lucky to find a coach to buy. I'd been researching about a year and decided on what would suit me best about the time COVID hit. As I was looking for one to buy, the market went kaboom. I feel like I got one of the few remaining ones out there. And according the Airstream dealer I bought it from, I did!. Your videos were a big contributor to my choice, and your improvements/upgrades/adjustments pretty much match my thinking as I researched, and still do, as I get out on the road. Right now it's back at the dealer, ironing out some wrinkles that showed up in the shakedown. Oh, and I left the Lake Tahoe campground and headed back south only to hear a few hours later that everything there had closed because of smoke and fire danger. Let's hope the western fires are extinguished soon. Be safe.

      😂 Exiting maiden voyage! Yeah, I would say you did have pretty good timing as the inventory is very thin right now! We did just happen to see a 21 AI GT on lot near Seattle and loved seeing it! • @IreneIronTravels
      @IreneIronTravels  3 года назад +2

      Good question Henry! Chris and I are a slightly weird couple that only argued once or twice a year when we where back in a house. Working together and living in a tiny van has changed that somewhat with more little arguments or bickering... probably form stress and short tempers from all of the change. I think in a small space you are forced to "get over it" more quickly, because otherwise you are just staring and stewing over it. But, if either of us needed to really cool down we would probably go for a walk or sit outside. But, generally we do everything together and it's really nice to share this with someone you love and are fully compatible with.

    We were there on Sept 22-23, 2020 in our Roadtrek 190 Popular. Was that when you were there? With the continental kit our van is 21'3" and it was a little tight going past the cliffs on Going-to-the-Sun road, especially with so much traffic, there was no chance to wait and go out to the middle when the cliff wall was so close. I don't think your 22' would have been a problem, but our van is 8.5' tall and isn't your 10' (which is another limit)? We stopped at one pull off that had no other cars to get out and stretch. Immediately it filled up as other drivers must have assumed we saw wildlife or something interesting. Most people were maskless.
