When I'm not on cement I use wooden square blocks and I haven't bent the feet sense . Just a tip I learned .I've been buying Rams sense 1987 and I don't Buy black anymore because it's hard to keep clean and the sun heats it up , I trade for new every 3 years on my birthday . I'm in the Hydro blue now and it turns heads everywhere I go . I've been full time RV off grid on my 5 th year .I've been to 37 states so far and no way I can remember all the places I've stayed but I remember most .
My apologies to you, and everyone else out there in I95 North that day. That was my RV that held up traffic for all those hours. Left rear truck tire blew out, and that was the result, I couldn't control it. The Dog and I walked away with just a seat belt bruise. Tow company wouldn't let me into the trailer, even after 2 days, so I rented a truck and moved onto Maine. I essentially lost everything I owned in that trailer! So much for my stop at "The Oaks"...
Oh my, heartbreaking story! Thank you for writing this comment. When the Oaks RV park called us and they did say the owner was OK and we were relieved! We were so shocked to realize the accident was an RV and was going to the same park. We would have been neighbors! Sorry we didn't get to meet you, and we hope everything turns out Ok for you. 😊
Our last dog was very protective not aggressive and always on leash. So when dogs came over off leash he wouldn’t bark but pin the other dog down. Never hurt or puncture them though. Then i was the bad one because their dog was off leash. Just like people not every one wants you on their place or is nice to you
When I purchased my 'snap pads' I knew the ground was not level everywhere we went. I ordered "Mytee Products (4 Pack) Round Outrigger Pad 15" Diameter, 1.5" Thick, 50,000 lbs' from Amazon and use them everywhere we park our 5th wheel that is not concrete. It works perfectly, inexpensive and easy to throw under the snap pads before leveling.
Yep them dogs you can't trust. WE were camping once, and a lady was walking a big dog on a leash, and she couldn't hold him, and he came over and ripped our 7 pounder in half. We rushed him to the vet and took about 30 stiches and around $1600. When we got back the other people were gone.
Thats why our dogs are WELL trained and also have a shock collar on with a remote i carry!! Because if a dog slips its leash or the owner drops the leash the dog is gone and the owner has no way of getting him back until the dog wants to come back! our dogs know if they leave our side or slip the leash they can be 200 feet away and I can still control my dog and make him stop on a dime from whatever he is doing!
Have you thought about moving your jacks up? We had the same issue: rear jacks were extremely low while towing. We were able to move ours up by one bolt.
I hope and pray the folks involved in that crash are safe and suffered no injuries. On another note I saw they were pulling that BIG 5ver with a single wheeled truck maybe a 3/4 or 1 ton hard to tell. This is my issue with towing monster 5vers with small TV's! At minimum a class 6 or above should ALWAYS be used for large RV's and 5vers. Yea, your truck can pull it but can it safely stop it that's the issue!
We had True Topper's installed awhile back. LOVE THEM!! Sure nice not having to bring the slide in during strong winds. We have seen a number of other rv'ers get their slide awnings ripped up in the wind. Not having to try to live in our motorhome with the slides in is a blessing, and not having to get up in the middle of the night due to unexpected high winds and get the slides pulled in. We would highly recommend them. Plus, the True Topper people in Eugene, OR couldn't had been nicer. Great company.
Your truck looks incredible!!! Okay this is a super random question, but I’m so curious if those headrests are comfortable? They seem to protrude really far forward.
Thanks Carman! Yes, the seats and headrest are super comfy. The headrest do adjust and tilt forward or back. It might have just been moved a bit forward in this video. I like it more forward and Chris likes it more back! 😊
I have the Alliance paradigm 385fl and I carry 12"x12" 3/4 plywood for under the Jack's for a few reasons. Protect the Jack's and a bigger footprint to prevent sinking. Beautiful setup you 2 have. Safe travels

Wow, you two are traveling to two of my favorite places in the USA! I love Charlestown, I Love Savannah, GA, I love Key West FLA! All these years traveling through our favorite towns!
I love my Ram, they really tow well. I would suggest you use a heavier oil for the 5th wheel plate than WD-40 which was originally designed to displace water - not to lubricate. I use wire rope and open gear oil, a great lubricant .
What type of dog bed/carrier do you have in the back setoff the truck? Truck looks awesome with the new coating. Hopefully the camper that got into the "incident" is ok and no one was hurt. Have a safe trip wherever your wheels take you.
Wow, I guess Aaron called that 'incident!' Bummer that you had to sit in that traffic, and major bummer for the folks who totalled their vehicles. Savanah is definitely on my list of places to visit. I have a few friends to visit nearby. Considering taking my new van to Sacramento Master Coatings after I pick her up this summer. Happy Travels.
Thanks! Yes, good call. 👍 We put on about 10-15k a year on ours so we'll do it about twice. It actually took about a tube and a half of grease....I was surprised!

We would have been neighbors. 😆 Yeah, that is the dog that was always sitting in the window that ran out the door. I played Pickleball with that lady. Honestly, a large as that camp ground is, most people keep their dogs on leashes there. Them picking up after their dogs is the bigger problem. We have been right where you all were as we stayed at Creekfire after leaving TTO. We have our appointment set with Master Applied Coatings in August after the RV Unplugged Rally. We are gonna get our Riverstone Legacy done and we are still thinking about getting the F-450 done. We have time. Thanks for the video again. Safe travels north! Ren & Vee
We have 6 snap-pads on our Solitude. Even with them, I still put a 12"x12" wood down. I bought a 6' 2x12 and cut it and carry it. Just for that reason. Never want to end up with bent feet if dropping on uneven ground or dirt, where it may settle.
Careful with the Snap Pads, I would look for at least 8inch clearance with them on. I had them on my LTV UTB and a speed bump took out the front ones, very expensive repair not to mention roadside assistance fees.
I’ve had my knockoff “pads” on for 2 years without any issues . Although we are not full timers we do use it monthly. I did hear a lot of issues with people loosing them so I ordered the 6 pack so I would have 2 extras. I initially didn’t have the pins in 100% of the way, but took pliers, and then used Gorilla tape over the opening s. All is still good.
I wish we could get Snap Pads for our TT, but they told make them that small for our old TT. We just bought Camco Camper / RV Leveling Block Flex Pad - Features Flexible Non-Slip Design & Crafted of Weatherproof Recycled Material - Great for Gravel, Tree Roots & Uneven Surfaces - 8.5” x 8.5”, 2-Pk (44600). So far so good and better than the plastic yellow ones.
You hit that WONDERFUL I75/FL Turnpike junction..I swear there is almost ALWAYS a back up in that area..All that traffic dumping off the turnpike onto I75 and then all of the truck stops at the next interchange with all of that traffic trying to get on I75 added to the fact that there are so many lane merges and everybody trying to 'get out front' ...Its just a royal cluster
No second guessing the mega cab club!! So we got ours ceramic coated and then made the jump to the fifth wheel from the travel trailer. Bought the superglide and dropped the truck off for the install with the rv dealer. End of the day go back to pick it up and there is a huge dent in the driver front qrtr panel. Needless to say going to have to get that all ceramic coated again after they replace the fender.
I believe that the RAM Magacab Dually and the long bed are exactly the same wheelbase and length. They are the same wheelbase because the extra room for the Megacab interior comes directly out of the long bed size. Therefore, they should turn the same and be the same overall length. Love your videos. Thank you.
Thanks, appreciate ya watching! 😊 They are different trucks. The mega cab is about 10 inches longer than the crew cab and the 6'4'' bed is about 20 inches shorter. I think RAM has our truck listed at about 11 inches shorter overall and 9in shorter wheel base than the longbed crew. The Ford crew cab longbed is even longer I think 16-18 inches longer than ours. 👍 You can really tell in person when you see them next to each other.
I must have missed your future plans for Canada.. can you give me the link?? I am Canadian on the west coast. We have travelled the country and would love to follow your adventure.. you are the third channel I follow that is heading to Savanah and Charleston.. you are the only going to Canada,,
@@IreneIronTravels yes, mine is a 2020 and doesn’t have the power mirrors. I have to flip them up manually and then it looks like moose ears lol. That would actually be good content to add to your next video, showing how they were compared to the older models
The accident of the totaled RV and Truck at the end of your video was a friend of ours. Luckily both him and his dog were okay. Unfortunately he is a full time Rver. Apparently the left rear tire on his truck blew out.
Since you have a mega cab with a 6 foot bed, you have the same wheelbase as a normal crew cab with an 8 foot bed. Ram doesn't make a mega cab with an 8 foot bed so you have the longest wheelbase they make. Any idea you have about the truck making shorter turns is just perceived.
I think the perceived info is that they have the same wheelbase or are the same length. A lot of people think this... but according to RAM's website info on the actual dimensions of the trucks, the 8ft crew is 260in overall length with a 169in wheelbase and the 6.4 ft Megacab has an overall length of 249in and a wheelbase of 160in. They even give the turning radius of 26.8 ft and 25.3 ft respectively. Even greater difference than the Ford 8ft crew. So while our thoughts are based on RAM's actual dimensions it would still be interesting to see them side by side in actual turning and parking situations. 👍
One question. It appears when your towing that you don't have the mirrors extended, can you see around the trailer ok? I think you would have better visibility if you extended the mirrors. I have an older megacab where the mirrors flip up and out and I wouldn't have any view with the mirrors down.
Good question! We had just gotten this RAM a couple months ago and this was our second big tow. I think in all the "newness" we kinda forgot about extending them! But we do now for sure. I like the update of the newer power mirrors....but I also liked the look of the older flip ups too. What do people call them...moose ears.. or something. 🤣
Orlando is my birthplace and original hometown. I live 11 miles from where the Florida Turnpike and 1-75 meet. You’ll were in my neck of the woods. Savannah and Charleston are beautiful and historic.
We like it alot! about 12,000 miles towing all around the country and its all about knowing were not gonna hit our truck cab no matter where we go! ruclips.net/video/-y5H6NCfvgA/видео.html
We plan on going down to the Keys this year. Mind if I ask what the name of the RV park you showed at the beginning of the video? It looks like it had a nice beach area, at least it seems so in the drone shots. Did you enjoy your time there? Thanks!
It was called Sunshine Key RV Resort and Marina. Loved it! We spend about 40 days there. About 40 miles from Key west and 1 mile from Bahia Honda st park. If you go to our channel we have a few videos on the area. 👍
@@IreneIronTravels Thank you so much! RUclips must have been listening, because we were just talking about it before your video was recommended. Haha! Subscribed. Happy Travels!
I bought the Beech Lane pads about 2 months ago for our new Brinkley. Guess I screwed up on that one. I'm guessing Snap Pad won't be reaching out to me with a free set though!
I am a new subscriber and you may have covered this and missed it. What brand is your tonneau cover. I have the same truck and am looking for a new cover. Thanks for all the info, I will be a weekly watcher for sure now.
hmmm. Not fun at the end seeing that totalled RV. Makes my flat tire that I found just before departing our campsite this moring seem rather insignificant. 45 minute delay to change a tire and get rolling again is really not much. Continued safe, and incident free, travels. :)
@@IreneIronTravels Kyle and Renee from Happily Ever Hank’s just had there’s done while changing a broken spring. I think it was an episode at the end of Feb.
100 percent agree. I have a long bed dually and I have no problems parking that thing anywhere. After 8 years of owning it and 300000kms it actually seams small to me. I have a harder time parking my sisters grand Cherokee.
Hi, Aaron and Chris. I noticed the plastic underbelly was starting to peel way when you were installing the new snap pads, I hope you got that addressed before traveling anywhere. Please stay safe, that accident looked horrible, I hope they were OK. Personally I think as these RV’s and trucks get bigger and longer people should be required to have special training or even a CDL, just my opinion. Thank you for the great videos!
I am so happy to see other women driving while pulling their fifth wheel. We pull our Riverstone with a Chevrolet 3500 dually, I drive and my husband navigates. It surprises me the number of women afraid to drive either the truck or pull their fifth wheel considering the what if in an emergency you need to do so. The truck is my vehicle as my husband drives his SUV for business as better fuel mileage than a big diesel truck.
I’d drive but as per our insurance company, he’s the primary driver because he has experience driving a big truck & trailer while I don’t. I’m not afraid to drive it but as my husband admits, he’s not a good passenger & I’m a really good navigator. I’ll do it eventually.
I believe that you can unbolt the jacks and raise them up ... anyway I been a subscriber for a couple of years and recently started watching the class b van video's ..... I am really curious about all the solar lithium stuff ... maybe Aaron can give some insight on design and product
Didn't realize the rubber jack rubbers prevent the jack feet from bending? We don't have them on a heavy MH and never have had bending feet problems but usually use wood blocks when off pavement.
Me neither. Same class A for 16 years, and never heard of jack feet bending, and we're not "resort" campers. Don't understand the need for Snap Pads. We've been planning to move to an Alliance 5th wheel, but beginning to seriously reconsider. What with frame failure, dropping tanks, detached walls, destroyed awnings, and such I'm seriously reconsidering. Great customer service is wonderful, but fifth wheels are beginning to appear too fragile...
Yes, that definitely helps! I will do that if I notice the ground is really bad or larger rocks, etc. But the cool thing about thick pads is you don't have too in many areas. 👍
my dogs are both professionally trained and train weekly, that being said i do let my dogs off leash to play ball and frisbee. walking through camp they are on a leash. the biggest pain is when at camp.
If you guys are keeping the truck for ever ❤😂 you should start using Pittsburgh Power Max Mileage to extend the life of your trucks EGR and DPF. Good luck 🍀
We've been debating getting our ram ceramic coated also. Can you let us know approximately what it cost to have yours done? We are on the west coast, so it would be at a different place. Just curious of a ball park amount. Thanks
Ceramic coating a vehicle can really range from roughly $1000-$3000, depending on where you go, how much prep goes into it, and what quality of coating you get. Just make sure you do your homework on where you're going to get it done and what they are going to do. We're hooked! 😊
Hey Guys, Love all of your videos. I have recently purchased a 2024 Ram 3500 Crew Cab Long bed Limited Longhorn. Ordered it in January received it in April, I was curious if your standard feature "auto dim headlights" are functional. Mine are not and was told just this week, that at the time of order the auto dim function was "on restriction" Dealership claims they knew nothing about this. and I surely was not made aware of it. I'm just trying to piece together the truth and get the complete truck I paid for and expected. So do your Ram 3500 limited "auto dim headlights" function? What was the date of manufacture of your Ram 3500?
Hello! Congrats on your new truck! We bought ours in the beginning of Feb of the lot and I think it was made late 2023. We do have the auto dim headlights feature on our Connect settings screen enabled, but we've never actually tried it out. We don't drive much at night! But Im assuming it works if it's a feature we can turn on and off through the settings. Ive had it in other vehicles years ago and didn't really like it though as sometimes it would hesitate to go to low beam and would blind drivers! Also worried I'd flash a cop! But maybe it works better now....
FYI...we live 100 miles from Tallahassee. You would have been very disappointed in the "COE" park near there. It's actually Coe Landing, a county park and not big rig friendly. There are only 3 COE campgrounds in Florida, all in South Florida. BTW, do you have any idea what the ballpark price would be for ceramic coating on an F-250 and a 22ft Cougar camper?
Oh, thanks for that clarification! I saw Coe and assumed! 🤣 I would guess a 22-footer would be around $4000. They do charge a little bit more than some of the other ceramic shops because of their coating formula, but some shops only last a few years. Give Briston a call and can give you an exact quote. 👍 850 300 0199
Going to Charleston and Savanna? Thousand Trails members? The Oaks at South Point on your agenda? I hope you bought the pontoon package for your truck and coach if it is. We had to wade through ankle deep water for 11 our of 14 days last year.

We will be at James island county park this Friday. It’s our favorite campground in Charleston. They have a huge great dog park.
Nice!
Man, that ceramic coat looks amazing! Quick question, where did you find your orange sewer hose supports? I don't find them on Amazon.
Good job on that loose dog situation. And those headrests would drive me nutso! Great looking truck though.
We have travelled the country and would love to follow your adventure..
you are the third channel I follow that is heading to Savanah and Charleston.. you are the only going to Canada,,
Hello! We are heading into the Eastern Maritimes soon. I think we talk about it in this video ruclips.net/video/DbY6WX8FVlM/видео.html
I just inquired about having the ceramic coating done at that place after watching this.
Oh awesome! It's pretty amazing! 😊
You have the newer Ram HD with the power extending mirrors, it looks like you guys don’t have them extended when you’re towing any reason why?
Good question. I keep mine out, even when not towing.
Good catch! We are using them now, but this was only our second big trip I think and I dont think we knew about them! Love the power mirrors.
@@IreneIronTravels yes, mine is a 2020 and doesn’t have the power mirrors. I have to flip them up manually and then it looks like moose ears lol. That would actually be good content to add to your next video, showing how they were compared to the older models
Man that accident must just make you sick. I feel for that family.
Yes for sure! He wrote a comment and said he was ok and no injuries. Blew up a rear tire and lost control....
9:02, failed to make a stop. tish tish not cool. lol.
Hey Aaron how does Cris like the backup camera. We went cheep and bought the magnetic extension ball from harbor freight. Can't wait to try it out
She loves it! But, we don't use it for hitching up, just for driving the RV and backing up on the RV. 👍
The accident of the totaled RV and Truck at the end of your video was a friend of ours. Luckily both him and his dog were okay. Unfortunately he is a full time Rver. Apparently the left rear tire on his truck blew out.
Oh wow, so glad there was no injuries! He actually just commented on the video!
Now that you have put some more miles on your new truck, how are you liking it?
Check your front campside corner where the coroplast is. It looks like it's loose.
Thanks I'll check that out!
Check out Bulletpoint mounts for your stuff in the dash cubby.
Thanks!
I always enjoy your music selections. truck looks awesome
😊🎶 thanks apprecaite it!
Love the black on your truck 😊
One question. It appears when your towing that you don't have the mirrors extended, can you see around the trailer ok? I think you would have better visibility if you extended the mirrors. I have an older megacab where the mirrors flip up and out and I wouldn't have any view with the mirrors down.
Good question! We had just gotten this RAM a couple months ago and this was our second big tow. I think in all the "newness" we kinda forgot about extending them! But we do now for sure. I like the update of the newer power mirrors....but I also liked the look of the older flip ups too. What do people call them...moose ears.. or something. 🤣
I had one foot that was bent so I heated the metal & bent it back out & let it cool & install the snap pad
When you said I’m not trying to get gas every were I knew that you meant diesel but I’m adding this for the smart elics
Yes, slip of the tongue! 😊
Orlando is my birthplace and original hometown. I live 11 miles from where the Florida Turnpike and 1-75 meet. You’ll were in my neck of the woods.
Savannah and Charleston are beautiful and historic.
Hey you might want to check ur travel maps. Lots of fires in Canada headed up towards Alaska
How do you like the slide hitch? I prefer the shorter box but have heard good and bad about those hitches. 🍻
Hello! The cover is the Gator cover by Real Truck made in the USA! amzn.to/3xegZYY
hmmm. Not fun at the end seeing that totalled RV. Makes my flat tire that I found just before departing our campsite this moring seem rather insignificant. 45 minute delay to change a tire and get rolling again is really not much. Continued safe, and incident free, travels. :)
Can you not remove a couple bolts and raise your rear jacks or do you not have enough space above them.
I have heard of people moving them up a notch or two. I need to look into that, thanks!
@@IreneIronTravels Kyle and Renee from Happily Ever Hank’s just had there’s done while changing a broken spring. I think it was an episode at the end of Feb.
You should change your oil and filter after brake in ❤
I'm thinking I can put my long bed anywhere you can put your beautiful short bed. It's just a matter of getting used to it all.
One thing. As I listen to you. Garmin has a route planer for RV. When pulling the RV. It will tell you of bad routing. Low over pass
Enjoyed your video,it was suggested I subscribe, so glad I did.
Awesome! Thank you!😊
I am so happy to see other women driving while pulling their fifth wheel.
Thanks! Yes, Ive heard of people moving them up and we need to look into it!
Why did you choose the Paradigm over the Avenue? I’m curious what differences you found?
So, just a thought... leveling the ground under each pad before fully implementing them might solve the bending issue? No?
Yes, that definitely helps! I will do that if I notice the ground is really bad or larger rocks, etc. But the cool thing about thick pads is you don't have too in many areas. 👍
Awesome guys, I have always bought SnapPad once I find out about them, man I’m telling you that your wife handle that rig like a champ.
😊 Thanks! 💪
You guys i like the back round music you should of did a Florida fast food review in the video also , RV and Food people love
The landing gear height is adjustable . Easy to do
Your truck look amazing)))
my dogs are both professionally trained and train weekly, that being said i do let my dogs off leash to play ball and frisbee. walking through camp they are on a leash. the biggest pain is when at camp.
Traffic - there are so many people here in Fla. now, traffic is all the time!
I love the backroads and avoid the Interstate whenever possible.
I had to do the 500 miles in me gas Ram also.
It was tough eh!
Where about in SC you going? We are in the upstate. Wondering were people think are good spots in SC.
Your tuck looks amazing rv tooo!!
as usual, a good informative video! I am really having a hard time with your background music though…🤷♀️
Thanks! Sorry about that! 😊
Love your NEW Truck!
👍
What application do you guys use for navigation and does it take into account your rig size and weight? I see it supports Apple CarPlay and want that!
We've been using the RV LIFE Pro app. It does add your length...but Im not sure about weight. It is really nice to have on CarPlay!
When itching up I see you use wd40, you should use silicon spray instead as wd40 is a degreaser only and dries up pretty quick!
That's what I was wondering 😮
Why are you using Solvent on the hitch instead of Lubrication 🤔
Beautiful dogs! What kind are they?
🤣 We've heard it can flood there! We got lucky. 😊
@@IreneIronTravels Glad it worked out that way. It's a great park when it doesn't rain.
