I recently bought Ruby so I'll be using this game more to do mass transfers between Ruby and Sapphire (Assuming it allows me to connect two different games to the box)
    EDIT: Just checked my finances logs, turns out I bought it in mid 2016 for $75 AUD, which is half the price of the cheapest memory-card-less copy sold on ebay. I'd say that's a decent deal.

    First and foremost, very well made video! Very professional and cool.
    Secondly, It’s hard to imagine that 10k sales means there’s only 1000 left, that’s insane speculation. Already assuming 90% are trashed? That’s ridiculous… I mean, a lot more than 10% still exist of the rarest NES games are still around.
    Pokémon Box sucks ass as a product, I’ll definitely feature it on “it’s expensive but is it good?” Lol kind of obvious answer.
    Finally, about the pichu knowing surf - I hope nobody wasted that kind of time, that’s ridiculous. You can already get pikachu to learn surf in Pokémon stadium, use mewtwo and somebody else good as 2/3 in your team, pikachu has to be on your team so leave 3rd slot for him… get through the level 100 cup, and bam, he knows Surf.
    I gave this lvl 3 pikachu a thunderstone, thunderbolt, Thunder, and seismic toss, and this surfing raichu was a solid member on my lvl 15 team!

    Here’s a crazy idea: Nintendo releases a mini console, similar to the NES and SNES Mini from a few years ago, but it is dedicated to Pokémon games. Maybe the first 4 generations or so. It could include all of the games from those gens, and a way to transfer Pokémon between the games and some sort of internal offline storage system, like Pokémon Box. You could also connect it to the 3DS and Switch, and use the internal storage to store your Pokémon from newer and current gen games. It could even be shaped like a Pokédex. It could literally be a physical National Dex. It would be the perfect way to satisfy fans of all generations, and to preserve your favorite games and your living Pokédex forever. It would be awesome. But you know, Nintendo, so…

    • @TheOneAndOnLEE.
      @TheOneAndOnLEE. 2 года назад

      Also, taking it a step further, it could function like a Nintendo Switch. Have a docked mode, as well as a handheld mode so you can play/trade/battle on the go. It would have all of the GB/GBC/DS titles pre installed, and maybe even incorporate dlc so it can support future generations of games. It could come with an updated (offline) version of Pokémon Home that can connect to the pre installed games, as well as new titles to keep it seamless. It’s a lot to ask for, but a kid can dream.

    • @WhoAskedYou
      @WhoAskedYou  4 года назад +1

      Yeah, it's crazy how much the price has spiked over the years. It was in the $200-300 range a year or two ago, but GameCube games are especially popular right now in the retro collecting circuit, so I'm sure that has something to do with the price spike. VGChartz is sited in the video for where I got the baseline sales information, but Pokemon Dungeon and a handful of other sites reported on it as well. Outside of Japan (Europe and the U.S.), it's estimated 0.01M copies were sold. It was hard to find exact numbers for everything, but the UK version was a lot more accessible and sells for much less aftermarket. A number of sites also reported that 1/10 copies sold outside of Japan were the U.S. version, so it's an educated estimate based on that and sales listings from the past five or so years. As far as I'm aware, Pokemon Box is the most expensive aftermarket title for the GameCube, outside of non-retail discs like the GC display kiosk demos or things of that nature. Glad you enjoyed the video!

If it is such a rare game and I have no intention of playing it, maybe I should do it just for preservation against the accidents or disc rot you mentioned. 1000 copies... Graded copies definitely go for more. The grading scale is pretty rigorous, but if you think it's in really good condition, it may not hurt to send it in. There's probably some way of tracking serial numbers on it or something, but I didn't look into it that extensively. I was just aiming for a general estimate when doing the research on sales, since there's so little information available about it. I'm sure there are a decent number of copies that are sitting around in storage somewhere, completely forgotten.

    The worst part about this video is how dated it is. In 4 years Pokemon Box doubled its value and now it's $2000. I don't want it but yet my Pokemon\Gamecube collector in me does.

    haha, I bought this one years ago randomly on a flea market. And when i tried it I realized it wasn't even an actual game, so I brought it to a used item store and exchanged it for something more valuable. I forgot what it was actually. Some Worms game I think

    To be honest, if you compare general used game prices between the US and UK, American games are absurdly more expensive almost always. I suspect it’s mostly due to artificial inflation, rather than accurately representing scarcity or demand, but it honestly sucks.

    I'm pretty sure i got it for free on club nintendo back in the day, the memory card in the UK was just bog standard grey one.
    Also pretty sure you can play the later games on the UK version of pokemon box, i played Leaf Green and Fire Red, it took a while for it to transfer the rom from the cart over the link cable but it did work, though it's possible i'm just remembering loading times for the later games for box mode.
