    I'm honestly mad that after Jami's video on facebook, there are people being negative here.
    You guys dont like the yelling at each other? That sucks. They are showing us that life on the farm isnt always rainbows. Lester was bucked off, and hurt. Jami was worried and scared for his safety. Lester at first needed time to recover and was worried about VooDoo getting even more scared or hurt by running off. They yelled at each other and fought because BOTH OF THEM ARE WORRIED ABOUT THEIR LOVED ONES! Jami understood Lester and Lester understood Jami. Let's all just be happy that no one seriously hurt and everyone is alive and well.

      @Zartelle Rose I'm guessing you don't know that people were accusing him of being abusive.

    • @usernamehere2418
      @usernamehere2418 4 года назад +10

      @Zartelle Rose well, that's why I went on my little rant. People were calling him abusive because of his yelling. That upset me. Jami had to make a whole video on facebook because of people's comments. I hate the people accusing such loving people of horrible things.

      Jami is normally such a sweetheart. She was out of control from the beginning. Once she heard he was okay, neck and back were okay, she needed to just keep quiet and let him collect himself for a moment. No one likes to be nagged, especially after a traumatic event like that. Had she not continued to harp on him, I believe it would have been way different.

    • @Kparker7721012
      @Kparker7721012 4 года назад +3

      A7xrobo YT she was being a concerned wife, she had no idea if he was hurt nor did he, adrenaline was rushing and he was being a jerk, she had every right to act as she did, had she not acted concerned everyone would be saying she didn’t care, Lester had no right whatsoever to speak to her the way he did, shows his true colors as a man and a husband if you ask me, if this is the way he treats people under stress then he sucks as a husband and a dad

    A great deal of the relationship with your horse starts from the ground grooming him spending time with him let him gain your trust and you have to make sure your tack fits perfectly a badly fitting saddle can cause pain and he had to learn not to eat with the bridle on I’m so glad you’re ok and you got back on and hugs to Jamie she was obviously very stressed and cares about you I felt for her so much xx

    Lester & Jami, I want y’all to know that this is actually one of my favorite videos y’all have done, and I’m glad y’all posted it, raw and all. I’m sorry for all the criticism you both received. Even the way y’all fuss at each other is loving and kind. Y’all continually apologize to each other as you’re arguing, lol. You both made good arguments and made good points. I understand Lester not wanting to wear his helmet out of manly pride, and I understand Jami’s concern for his safety. Y’all demonstrate exactly why men & women need each other, lol. We complete each other’s humanity. This is a great video, not just of the farm, but of the relationship. Love y’all both, and poor Voodoo, too, lol.🥰

    “Did you hit a tree?”
    “No I just hit the ground”
    The ground is the hardest lesson in riding. At least Lester is okay and you two realized you needed some help (some horse people haven’t figured that out yet) and that fundamentals are important. A proper helmet is a good idea but fundamentals will teach how to get in trouble and how to get back out of it so the ground is less likely to make contact.
    Also be aware that concussions can occur without a direct impact to the head. Any impact that sends shockwaves up the spine has the potential to create a concussion from the brain shaking in the skull.

    Seriously, you should wear a helmet, I hate helmets myself but with 45 years of horse ownership and riding, it is the wisest thing. You don't have to wear a football type helmet, I couldn't wear that thing either. Get a good riding helmet and you'll be fine. I had a severe accident whilst jumping one of my horses and if I had fallen knocking my head, I would have died. I wasn't wearing a helmet but sustained lifelong problems from that fall. (It didn't stop me from riding )Since then I always wore a helmet. Just one other safety thing, take both feet out of the stirrups before dismounting then if your horse gets spooked or steps aside, your foot will never get caught in the stirrup. Sorry for the lecture, but we want you to be around a long time! The job you guys do is just inspirational.🐴💟

    Lester, you are a man's man. Like the men in my family. The women married to this type of men, know that they don't mean what they say when they're hurt. Once everything calms down, there will be an apology. The men also know and appreciate that their women are concerned for them. When I was growing up it was the rule that if you were bucked off a horse, you got back on. Also, don't pay these negative Nellies any mind.

    I was 5 yrs old when I was bucked off a horse. My uncle made me get right back on and ride again. It wasn't just because the horse needed to know he could get away with that, but also ao I wouldn't become afraid of riding the horse.

  • @SuperDancingdevil

    Quite right get back on before the horse knows what it can do and it becomes an issue for you because fear of a horse is a terrible thing, By the look of it the horse has a few issues if you watch again the ears go back when there is a dog barking somewhere too, Flags and flagpoles can spook a horse too I definitely agree there, The poor thing definitely needs some professional help as a horse can get worse over time and just end up being a neurotic basket case that nobody can ride, Good to see that you try to ride him anyway he needs that contact although he’s nervous of things in his environment, But the good thing is he’s not so far gone that he won’t allow you to get on, You’ve got the bumps and bruises but that’s just because you care about your animals if you didn’t get the odd bump and scrape I’d say you were doing something wrong, Don’t worry about swearing you should hear me when I get going I’ve made sailors blush lol!, Stay safe both of you.

    Lester the saddle isn’t fitting him properly around the whither, switch to a snaffle bit. His ears are back because he’s listening to you not because he’s worried about anything. Try watching some videos of Clinton Anderson doing ground work, that work will really help him (Clinton would probably take him on too)

    • @doodles54321
      @doodles54321 4 года назад +3

      I agree with your comment about the ill fit of the saddle, however bits are not the answer to being able to ride a horse. Nor is Clinton Anderson or any other person trying to sell you some fantasy of control. It's about working from the ground up, literally ground work first, for as long as it takes for both parties to be comfortable with all needed equipment and maneuvers. It's also important to understand exactly what your equipment does, how it interacts with the horses body (I think any metal on the face is cruel from my own research but for each owner that's their choice). They both clearly aren't comfortable with horses and horse behavior and it's a recipe for disaster.

    While hacks are awesome for most horses they are not for all. Just like a harness for dogs. Bits are not that expensive and very in size and function. If Voodoo is a wild child longer reins un-knotted is the way to go. Less chance of his leg getting caught. You also may want to take a step back and place loaded feed bags over the saddle and walk him to get used to the tack and weight. His ears were back listening to you. When they are ticked they will lay straight back. If you're nervous he is nervous. Lastly, while irritating, have someone home watch over you or near by in case you do get thrown. Just until he becomes used to being ridden. While having a horse for a pet they also need exercise. Unless lame or arthritic, a horse should be ridden as it's part of their life.
    If you're new to horses or problem horses no doubt you can ask for and many will be happy to help you.

    Rider and horse caretaker here, PLEASE if you’re fixin to ride, PLEASE use a mounting block. You’re doing damage/adding unnecessary stress to his vertebrate mounting him from the ground.

    There was a lot of fear shown in this video. Lester's was obvious, as was the grumpiness that followed. Jami's was also obvious, to me. Seeing your love on the ground after being thrown is terrifying. I saw my man down after getting tossed off the mower into the ditch. I thought he was dead. I was so scared. Thank God you are both ok.❤🐎❤ Voodoo too!

    I think the donkeys agree with that song. Lester, I understand how Jami felt, however, you did the right thing. Not so much for Voodoo, but more for yourself. If at first, you don't succeed, try and try again. Glad you shared this.

    First. Lester. Talk nicer to Jami. She is incredible! Two. You are right. Get back on and always end on a high note. Even if you are bleeding. 🤭 My 8 year old granddaughter got back on. Three. Voodoo has to earn the right to be bit less. I’m sorry. Many will disagree. Bits are not cruel if you have the right one and the rider has a light hand. Four. He could also be dealing with being buddy (buckys) sour. Five. Send your trainer my way. I am 61 and my bones are brittle. Six. I know everything in my head but don’t ride because I am a chicken shit. I always tell my granddaughter that I’m not going to cuss but.........
    Hey I love you guys and respect the love you have for all your babies. You are special people.
    Wondering why you don’t ride buckys?
    Hugs. Kelly. Indiana.

    Truly a great effort Lester with Voodoo☺ , but along with his history a horse can sense fear (just an fyi)☺

    For non horsey people, there is a HUGE DIFFERENCE between a horse PINNING his ears and listening to what is behind him.

    Getting back on is not so much for the horse, but really important for the rider. If you don't , that little bit of fear will grow into a big thing in your mind and then you carry it with you every time you ride. My riding teacher was very stict about this and had a saying when ever someone was thrown or bucked off. You had two choices..one, Do you need to go to the hospital? ..two, You get back on the horse!" Since Voodoo is going through some training issues wearing a helmet is a must! One kick in the right spot and you are a dead man. Not the horse's fault and not your fault, but why take the chance. Remember even bull riders wear a helmet when they need to.

    I think it’s good you have shared this video even if some think it’s not due to the discourse between you both, that’s so normal between a good relationship and wouldn’t expect anything else, with love from Australia.

    Lester completely misunderstood the saying “you have to get back on the horse” - you don’t have to get back on immediately.
    Never get on a fairly green horse with nobody around because it can, and often does, end badly.

    The horse was doing a really good job being ridden at the end and looks very broke to ride.. please do not take things so personally with horses after all yall aren't speaking the same language so there can be miscommunications but Voodoo looks like a sound and calm horse that would ride well without a bit.. check some of my videos i ride without a bit or saddle all the time! Love the channel and love seeing the animals
