    I love that Ringo claimed the couch 🛋 in the house. He looked like he was about to relax, turn on the TV 📺 and ask for a beer. Lol. Glad y'all made it through. Sad watching these old videos, seeing faces I miss seeing. :(

    Lester, we lost almost everything in Hurricane Harvey also. My horse Ranger and miniature donkey, Jack-Jack had to be swam out. Our 3 big dogs and my then 76 yo Mom, my sweet husband and I got into his very lifted pickup and drove just about 8 houses away (acreage property so some distance) to safety. I shake and tremble every time it rains now. I know we aren't alone though. So many fellow Fort Bend and Harris county neighbors and so many others had the same thing happen. It's terrifying, but we did survive. That's why I follow y'all and your critters. I feel hope and love with every story y'all share. We'll all just be family; no we didn't start with blood, but we all share the same love of our critters and this wonderful state. Thank you for taking us all on this journey!

      I tried to get my parents to buy a house in Cinco Ranch & not where they are now. But turns out very little flooding in mom & dads area & poor old Cinco sank. They live right off Clay rd. I remember when we moved back in 78 & how it flooded on Clay. That’s before all the subdivisions. I miss the way it used to be.

    When you were braving the storm and calling out for pig Trudy the sense of emotion was all consuming! The lump in my throat made swallowing a difficulty. The tears accumulating in my eyes made seeing the screen almost impossible. Forget the dramatic drama series on Netflix. They're all acted. Real life is so much more intense. It raises the emotions. Raises the pulse. Raises the concern. The sense of relief when Trudy was found was overwhelming. Good lord! Phew. I can breath again. Love you guys so much from the UK. ❤❤❤

      @@julieenslow5915 seriously?? Your concern is she will just do a pop up visit??? First off Im gonna assume that if its just a reg ol visit type thing she'd make contact first ... Gotta get address an so forth. But in an EMERGENCY .. Im sure No One would care if you call first when you come to help wrangle up animals an help with whatever. What I found as an irritant in reading the comments was your "karenish" way of stating your call first.
      Personally I dont like it an wont do it to others. I once had a fam friend stayin with me for a bit. This one weekend my kids were at dads an I was enjoying my quiet time in my room watching movies playing online games whatever. My house an cell phone had rung a couple times each of which I was choosing to ignore. Next thing I know my doorbell goes off an my "roomate" decided to open the door. She then knocked on my bed door which I didnt respond. Then she started texting me ... As shes having to entertain the guest who just showed up even tho I hadnt answered any of her calls. So then I started getting texts saying I have company ... I finally responded sayin I dont have company she does she let her in. And thats where it ended for me I continued my day an im not sure how long it took for my roomie to get the uninvited guest to leave... But my point is ... Yes I agree with your call first dont just pop in. But I dont agree with you making your shitty comment to someone who just wants to help. Honestly they probably hear that ALOT an it never happens. Ok my opinionated rant is done lol

      So you wanted me to give her a harsh reminder of basic courtesy? Did you catch the video when they commented about people that do just show up? It is one thing for a friend to just show up. I always welcome that. But a stranger?

    • @julieenslow5915
      @julieenslow5915 3 года назад +2

      PS
      If a friend does show up that you don't want to see - the way to keep the friendship is to just tell her: I don't feel up to company right now, I should have told you that when you texted, please forgive me. Then she leaves and you go back to your day.

    • @blahblah4248
      @blahblah4248 3 года назад +1

      @@julieenslow5915 because she was my friend she already knew my stance. If I dont answer my phone then Im not available. See what you younger people dont understand is back before cell phones ... We had land lines an believe it or not no caller id or answering machines. Meaning you called it could ring 100 times no answer hang up. Or if they were on the phone you got a busy signal. An you just calling until someone answered. So guess what this mentality that we must answer the phone or text right away is completely annoying. Besides Im a grown ass woman an well I'll do it if I want to its my choice. Not rude just a choice leave a dam message an Ill reach out when Im available. I could be working I NEVER loom at my phone while at work or at Dr appointment or visiting my great aunt whatever it is if Im not available im not available. Get it?

You were handling it perfectly, no worries. Just realize what's going on in your body and if after the storm has passed it is still flowing you may have to do something.

    Now, I really don't know about farming so please forgive me-these are just ideas but perhaps you could build a very large but basic simple emergency pavilion at one of those two very highest points on your land near your house. A pavilion that is raised up with a roof and troughs so they can eat and ramps so that even the cows, horses and donkeys have a dry spot in worst case scenarios. Also instead of having to cut fences nxt time after this storm make additional gates leading directly to that high piece of ground with the tree to the right for easy access. Maybe keep a small boat against side of house too. You guys are the best and your animals are so lucky to have you. You take great care of them and they are very loved. Sending positive thoughts and best wishes. Sorry you and yours are having to go through this.💕💕

    I saw a video of a guy a few years ago that bought an inflatable dam that he surrounded his house with. I wonder if that would work to protect the immediate house, a small area for the various animals and some supplies.
    It's expensive but if enough people donated it could be done.

    • @michaelshrader5139
      @michaelshrader5139 3 года назад

      The problem with those inflatable dams (they are actually filled with water, not air) is that it takes too long to deploy them and they can only be deployed while weather is still fair and ground is dry. I believe it takes like almost 3 days to set up and fill them (great if you know a heavy rainfall far upriver is going to be sending water your way in a week or so and your yard is firm and dry to deploy it, not so much otherwise), and you have to keep water pumps running to pump water that rains on top of your roof out of the dam. Point being, by the time you realize you definitely need this dam, it's usually going to be too late to set it up in time to do any good! I thought about one for my house too, but realized it would very likely be of no value.

Poor Meg so scared- she had been thru the worst with Harvey and must have thought it was going to happen again. You guys are so brave,. It is their "safe place". They don't know the water will keep rising and turn it into a trap!

    New to your channel so just found these videos, and it is raining. It looks so refreshing seeing you barefoot strolling through the barnyard checking on the babies. Just realized you're close to Houston so you are below sealevel and this is why you flood so easily once the ground gets saturated. I'm sure this is not your first rodeo and this is one of many more to come. I'm enjoying watching very much.

    As a huge fan from the UK I love the thought of flying to Texas and offer to to help ya'll out. Obviously this would be something I'd need to arrange with you guys but my concern is that pretty much everyone is armed! Imagine a stranger with a British accent walking down the wrong driveway. After 10 headshots (to make sure I'm definitely dead) call the cops! Lol.

      No, was stated when Europeans were infiltrating the land of the Creek Natives were fighting for their own safety & land. "GOD willing, if the Creek don't rise".

    I don't know how I missed the Run Maggie Run video and remember seeing this one. I remember being worried about Trudy when you all was trying to find her. It's so weird seeing how the farm looked then too. Like it seems like it always looked the way it is now. Amazing really how you all transformed ISS to what it is today

    Odd that this video came up as a suggestion to me just now when all of you are right now preparing for potentially the worse flooding you've faced since Harvey! I've been glued to my laptop looking for updates from various creators and this video popped up. Praying you will get through this new challenge safely as well!
