Lester, I love the fact that you are learning from your biggest critic! Others would just want to hate and get back with the guy - you’re so humble, because you care about your animals. It really is amazing how Courtney and Rick said the same thing about Buc-ees Dominance. Can’t wait to see if the chiropractor can help him! I absolutely love this channel and I’m proud to be a supporter

Did you know that it was one of the Ima Survivors viewers who reached out to Think Like a Horse after Lester asked for help in a video. Lester is truly unique to ask for help, listen to help in spite of Rick's delivery style, and put it into practice and publicly let us see the process. I'm hooked on this channel now too. I'm enjoying the camaraderie. Have a good night,
      Laural

I'm glad that you see that. Most people don't understand that a critic is not a bad person. Without someone to critique whatever it is we are doing, we will never grow and learn. Critics are are best friends in reality, because without them most humans wouldn't be motivated to learn more and do better.

👍👍👍 Lester I’m so glad that you’ve become friends and have listened to Rick and not offended with him using you as an example in his videos. Others can learn so much from them. Like Bucee Rick is strong willed in his presentation. He could do better but then he may not have the viewers. We had a horse we took on cuz his eye was gouged out in a cult tragedy as they severely injured many horses. We had to rebuild trust and eventually with a lot of love he was an exceptional riding horse. Bucee’s story shows he was severely abused by other horses and in the wild he’d be dead. I believe he’s more a leader now and extremely smart. Someone trained him well and then no longer could care for him and then the problems arose. Seen so many people abandon them cuz not realize the cost and time needed. We had used acupuncture for one horse who’s back was injured when very young and a very heavy person rode him constantly. Soon a smaller person was able to ride him but not as a trail horse and not for long. If Jaimie wants to ride she will need to find a different horse cuz of its back. Certainly you are giving him a life he didn’t have and just handling him maybe all you’ll be able to do. He may be the leader of the herd teaching the others to behave. You are truly learning a lot especially looking at their ears. That is their way of telling you their mood and what they’re thinking. Love this horse and love he’s found his forever home where he feels safe. 👍👍👍👍👍👍

I didn't know Beckees's back was out. I had a 15 yr old OTTB (off the track thoroughbred) that came to me with his back out, which caused him to be off in his poll and withers. A chiropractor worked with him and the difference was night and day! He was able to ride under saddle with my daughter comfortably and didn't baulk about it. He ended up being a really good horse, very bonded with my daughter. If anything, you might get him to at least be able to take little ones for short rides with some sessions, as I personally would trust him with the task. He's a real fine horse Lester and he is definitely the leader of your herd! Remember, animals don't see disability like we do, if at all.

Buc-ees is a real example of we are all a survivor of something. Animals can be just as jealous and needy as humans. Sometimes is is hard to share your humans. He was Jamie's first horse and so I am sure it is hard for Buc-ees to share her with the other horses. He was there first so I am sure that has a part in it also. Buc-ees is a beautiful horse.

God Bless Buc-ees, the unsung hero of Ima Survivor Sanctuary. Thank you for telling his whole story, as you know it, Lester. And thank you for not allowing yourself to feel offended by what Rick says, and for applying what he has taught you. The very first horse I fell in love with was Roy Rogers' Trigger. Wow, what a horse! Then came Mr.Ed, and finally Penny, the 20 something year old Palomino mare, owned by a close neighbor. As soon as I was old enough to leave the house on my own, probably around Brinleigh's age, I made a beeline for the neighbors barn, and I pestered him until he put me on Penny's back. I loved that old mare, and I often stopped at the neighbors house that was between Penny's and mine to climb their apple tree and "steal" a treat for her. She was the first horse I actually rode, without any assistance, not even an adult holding onto the lead. I remember hanging on for dear life one day because we were way out in the back pasture, and I dropped the reins. Once that old girl realized it, she made the same kind of beeline for that barn that I did a few years prior. I held on to the horn, clamped my legs around her and prayed. We flew through the wind, and once there, she was the same gentle horse I had always known. I was HOOKED! So, its kind of a no Brainer why the Palomino ( which actually means Pal of mine, or so I've been told) is my favorite horse. BTW, before I go, I'll tell you that same neighbor later got a black and white Pinto named Paint. He was good too but the ride was different. He was more unpredictable. So, I just loved him from afar, or rode along behind my neighbor, so I could hold tight onto him if Paint got too antsy. Anyway, thanks so much for telling Buc-ees' story, and bringing back some of my favorite childhood memories. Much love to all us Survivors!❤❤❤🐴🐎🐎

He's such a beautiful and gentle guy. Even if he gets hangry. he's still going back to his 'fight for his food' mind set but he's gradually making the adjustments and knows that he's in charge. He might feel a bit lonely still if he's not getting the same attention as Voodoo and Dixie. Even though you are playing it safe and not riding him how about taking him out on the bridle every once and a while to 'show him off' to the others, all the time talking to him and praising him along with a few extra treats.

Quarter horses as a breed are really fascinating to me. Their build is so muscular, stocky - they are broader than most warm bloods but they are QUICK. They are beloved of riders of barrel horses because of this - as the saying goes, they can turn on a dime and give you nine cents change. They can bounce through a zig zag so fast, and of course they get their name from racing the first quarter of a track faster than even Thoroughbreds. And they are strong. No wonder so many cowboys love them.
Edit: Lester - IF Buccee were healthy - he would give you a ride better than any horse you currently have - guaranteed. You'd have to get over your height concerns - I've seen many professional competitive riders on the circuit that are taller than you, ride horses no bigger than him and walk out with top prize.

He was well trained!!! It's sad y'all can't be riding him!!! I forgot about his back issues. I'm sure he would be a very gentle ride. Especially for kids or beginners. Courtney is so smart!!! Good thought on seeing a chiropractor, Lester. You guys impress me so much!!!! I love y'all so much!!!

You might ask the horse chiropractor about also using an infrared device on him too. You wouldn't believe how much that with chiropractic care has helped the pain in & around my low back fusion. So much I bought a custom unit for myself.

I did watch Ricks video, it was very informative about Buc-ees. I was surprised to hear Courtney say that buc-ees does have some vision on his right eye. He is still competing for his food- and winning that fight. I was glad to see that the attack on his hind quarters did heal up nicely poor buc-ees. He looks good and happy now.

Buckees is very smart and obviously well trained. Hope a chiropractor can help him. I know we owned a horse that was blind in one eye too. He was very sweet but the odd time he'd get startled when riding him from something on his blind side popping up. We just had to keep his blind eye issues in the back of our mind.
And its so sad to see how Buckees looked when you got him. He looks 100x better now. Great job!! And I think rude Rick does have a point... Buckees is not a bully... he's just the dominant horse. All horse herds have hierarchy system. And he's just the top horse in your herd.
I know my cousins mare we had with us for years was the top horse. She always ate first and had her say about where the others stood or when or if they got attention from us too. But she also was the teacher of the group too. When our friends yearling colt misbehaved she was the one to get after him with a nip to make sure he didn't get too rough with us. Oddly enough she was a palomino too. Lol

We all (people with horses)need to learn to listen to and read our horses before jumping to the wrong conclusion. It's always a good idea to get your horses seen by a chiropractor and once theyve done what they can you need to continue to have tune ups to maintain the improvements. I do think Rick has some really good things to share it's just a pity he doesn't present them in a more user friendly way. He'd get far more of a positive response and people would listen, learn and execute his ideas more readily if his reigned it back a bit. (see what i did there🤣) Great video Lester. 👍
