I was just thinking of what a shame it is that it will be bull-dozed. I love old wood furniture. I have a bedroom set from one grandmother. She gave it to us as a wedding gift. It took months to get the old paint stripped off. Underneath was the most beautiful hand carved oak. I also have a wash stand that was thrown away from my great-grandmother's house after she died. Her heirs didn't think it was worth anything. It is precious to me!
Not only is Kappy a class act, he has a big heart, promising to relocate that poor bird stuck in the house. As for the house, i just love that blue and pink bathroom! 🛁🚿🚽
🩵. Yes! 🐦 Opening all windows, and every door, will assist the distressed cutie. 🕊 She's too stressed to get herself out. I would've stayed there, all day, until she's free. 💙
It breaks my heart to see once beautiful home let to fall into such disrepair and torn down . Soon this country will not have homes that represent the fine craftsmanship of the past that took a tremendous amount of time and skill .
It's sad none of the doors, fixtures and antiques weren't saved by architectural salvage/antique dealers. Plus you are a good person for caring about that little bird.
Well said! These places that are a century old or more have really seen a lot of changes over time! Some have survived through the civil war and more just too end up abandoned in the 21st century! It’s very sad in a way! Thanks for watching! :)
What a shame that a highway has no where else to be than across this house. The outside is really attractive, the inside needs a lot of help. But I can still see what a nice home it must have been. Glad that you documented it, Kappy. Thanks
I recently witnessed DOT take my neighbors home (3yrs old custom built). They paid him for 9 acres out of 38 and land-locked the rest. For a new highway loop to enter the new Toyota battery plant here. Alot of beautiful homes have been destroyed. I guess my acreage will be next😢
A nice rerun!😄 It's hard for me to believe that all that stuff is left and no one wanted it. That old photographs should be rescued!😢 It's great that you took the time to see it one last time. 👍👍👍
I know this is a small home compared to what you normally bring to us but it’s still beautiful! The antiques left behind though. Someones treasures just dying off as they did. So sad. Thanks Kappy for all you do! We all appreciate your hard work and dedication. ❤
Thank you!! Well said, it really is sad! Much appreciated for the kind words and watching!! So glad you enjoy still! We’ve all been exploring together so long now I couldn’t do it without y’all!! :)
Let’s hope the antique’s are saved, especially that 19th? century dresser that you pointed out. That second story balcony looks like an amazing place to hang out on. Thank you Kappy for the before and after on this once lovely home. ✌️😊
I think others have been through the house before and taken whatever may have been of value. I noticed a hole in the floor and staircase. Maybe done deliberately thinking there may have been hidden valuables. I don't know. Just guessing because in them days banks were far and few between. Shame to see a lovely house passed its best due to neglect. Previous owner may have been old and infirmed or lacking finances. Now all seems lost due to progress of a road. Sad.
A beautiful house. It looks like it was last updated in the early 1980s. That duck wallpaper and Pfaltzgraff pieces scattered about were popular back then. The old TV, ironing board closet, and wood paneling are from the 1960s-'70s. I LOVE the big bedrooms, French doors, and upstairs porch. What a charming house for a newlywed couple to start their lives in. Tfs, Kappy! 😊
My dad “god rest his soul” covered bead board with paneling. And acoustic tile.About 90% of it except the kitchen pantry. I think he got tired of having to paint it.If it were mine, I would remove it all. And 30 years younger. My two siblings live there. Don’t think they have it in them to do it.
Your videos will be valuable one day of what the sites use to be like with these historical homes and the history. I sure would document the much history records of these forgotten houses that tells a story that will be lost forever. so so sad much history are lost. Each historical house each has a story to tell . . . . . You are the only one that are capturing these places before they disappear from life !!! Thank you for sharing these forgotten sites and history !!!! 🙏👍
I noticed a nest on top of the fireplace!😮. And the old picture is worth saving. Hopefully somebody will retrieve what’s worth saving instead of being destroyed.
Nothing good comes from the yellow monster in the yard. I wish someone would go through and salvage the good furniture, doors and fixtures before this place is torn down. My house is a kit house built in the 60's, but nothing like this old place. Mine was just built with a bunch of leftover material, and no doors that fit. But it's mine and I'm lucky to have it. As always great video, Kappy - thank you!!!🏚🏚😼
I too love going through old houses and looking at the different floor plans and the way they were built. This was truly a magnificent home in its day. Someone had a money in order to build this for a wedding present...It has a floor plan that would be good for todays standards..some beautiful woodworking and doors....
That blue trim is what we called Williamsburg Blue back in the early 80s. It was often paired with that pink, which we called mauve. Once upon a time it was a nice house. Thanks for sharing. ❤
Love the porches on this one, I can see lots of happy family gatherings spilling out onto the porches and yard in the past. I like that it didn't get remodeled too much, but at the same time, she deserved better than the 70s remodel that they did with the fake wood paneling and orange shag carpet. Too bad it will soon be just a memory. Glad that you captured it before it's gone!
What a lovely home! I loved not only the architecture style but the furniture was incredible - even the half/destroyed pieces. The ironing board storage in the hall was odd! Usually they are in the kitchen or pantry area. I lived in a house that had one - so handy!!! Thank you for going back and revisiting a home before it is torn down. All this destruction breaks my heart.
This is a very solidly built house . Nothing built today would stand the test of time of this gem. It's too bad it's slated for demolition. BTW I think what you saw was an old Sears 1900 reproduction catalogue. What's fascinating about those is how cheap by todays standards thing were . Probably expensive back then though.
Got my coffee I’m all set! Love the arch & moldings. That front door used to have the old twist doorbell, I could see the hole where it used to be! When I was a kid I lived in an old house with one of those & yeah, we drove our folks nuts playing with it lol
Many of the homes you've recorded may, and probably will, be torn down but in a way you saved their memory through your videos. Great explore, thanks, Kappy. 😊👍
9:09 How exciting it is for me to see this dresser/drawers! The reason it is so exciting is because it helped me realize that a piece of furniture I use as a night stand used to be a side section of a piece of furniture like this.
Wowwwww kappy you did it again. I loved it. Those antiques need saved the picture. U zoomed in to the lady was a gem I would of gotten it and. Saved it. Take care my gratefully deadicated. Buddy. Shake down street. Friend ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤ awesome. Exploring
Was a couple cool ones I could show! But yes this place was shockingly filled with cool old stuff! Just packed in and thrown around somewhat! Thanks for watching! :)
Thank you for sharing this old gem, Kappy. I'm wondering if the fireplace insert could be saved??? That old paneling was the real McCoy, since newer paneling is basically a picture on the surface... It's actually worth saving! The picture frame is definitely an antique... I'm wondering if there's a historical museum nearby that could accept a couple of items, especially that old picture... The basement was pretty rough, good thing you didn't linger there. As always, your work exploring and documenting these historic homes is most appreciated!
Why I watch & Subscribed, your good to to the little creatures, like the bird here.. Outside house looked nice & Love the fireplaces, just rest, beyond help & like you said, 'packed'....
My goodness this must have been a beautiful home. Surely I watched the last time you filmed it, but your filming skills have improved so much since then. So glad you got to film it before it is gone. Thank You
You could just get the place and use the doors windows, and light fixtures and redo the furniture.Love the architecture and porch what a beauty it was and the land👍❤️🇺🇸
Urban Exploring With kappy thank for sharing with me this video about Packed 140 year old Abandoned Southern Farm House Full of Antiques this was a really nice explore and God Bless and thanks.
Nice bright cozy home. So many memories made there. I'm thinking I saw a couple lingering spirts on your walkthrough. Oh, and for those folks who proudly don't do politics, here's another example of where 'politics does you'- eminent domain, cuz there simply is no better place to insert an onramp/offramp, per your county supervisors, but through your abode/space on this handsome lil' lot. Quiet Lessons to inquisitive minds. TY for the tour. charming but not opulent: Very cozy indeed.
That old picture upstairs of the lady reminds me of a picture given to me when my grandmother passed away. I believe it to be an old picture of my grandfather's grandmother and its not a photograph exactly its more of a painting but I think its very old. No one ever smiled in pictures back then.
As soon as I saw the picture of this house as I was scrolling I stopped because I found it was actually a very attractive house and could be once again.
Such a wonderful little home .....the outside was really cool ....the inside says a lot of life was lived here such a shame to see it get tore down . Thank you for showing us another wonderful old home Kappy !!! 👍👍
Seems like no one cares about all the antiques in this place. So much could be saved and repurposed. The wallpaper with the ducks I had in my bathroom in one of the places I lived in. Loved the video Mr Kappy! Thanks for taking me along!
What a neat house! I don't think I've seen that style before. Torn down-l really dislike those words, but hoping that someone saves the architectural salvage, and some of the furniture. Thanks, Kappy-great, as always. Hi, Ruby!
This would have been a very beautiful home back in the day. Too bad that it is fixing to be tore down for a road though. Thanks for sharing and you have safe travels. Happy Holidays to you and yours.
Very nice old little house !! Just not much to save on the house but there is some furniture that could be saved!!!hope the bird found his way out !!! Thanks Kappy !!!!
I did a thorough search after I finished filming and couldn’t find him anywhere so I’m assuming went through an open window pane!! Would hate for an animal to be stuck! Thank you for watching!! :)
This house looks like it's really, really old. It's unique from the half brick facade to the layout that didnt make too much sense. You can hear it in your steps how unstable it had become. I bet its really creepy in there at night!
Good evening, Kappy and all present! So glad that it's time for another interesting exploration of someone's past! This house's architecture is quite interesting and could have been preserved, except for its proximity to the new road. Now, sadly, the land on which it sits is worth much more than the house itself. It would seem that few people have explored this sweet little place. The green cabbage leaf bowl sitting on the table next to the TV hasn't moved at all! Kappy, that bird is a Carolina wren who may have a nest full of babies somewhere in that house. It knows exactly how to get in and out of the house, as will its progeny. Wrens are nosy little songbirds who seek out empty buildings in which to safely nest and raise their young. They are easily identified by their short tails which tip up at an almost right angle to their stocky little rust-colored bodies. The best thing you can do for that bird is to leave it alone! Oh, you didn't mention in your narrative description that the house was built as a wedding gift! That fact makes the house seem even more dear. I can almost imagine the happy couple walking through the rooms, being joyful in and proud of their little home. That's odd, there are a lot more pieces of bric-a-brac on the mantel than when you were here last. Maybe it was staged by photographers. You're absolutely right, Kappy, that is an ironing board closet. As a matter of fact, the narrow board used for sleeves is still in there! This house has such a happy feeling about it, in spite of the junk and the damage it has suffered. It seems content in its memories, unafraid of the future. There was a lot of love in this home, love for each other and for God. What a shame this once happy home with its basement filled with water has only weeks to live. It makes me sad to think of it. Nevertheless, it's going on my favorites list! Thanks for a doubly interesting exploration, my friend. It was nice to see this house, both times! Love from Tennessee, Becca
Great observations! Yes I was shocked so little had changed inside over the years! Was very surprising to me! Thank you always for sharing your insights and the kind words!! Much appreciated for watching!! :)
13:12 The picture long abandoned 💯% proof. Get out and travel never let days come and go. Try your best to live life before it passes you by. Thanks for recording these.
Surprised that antique robbers haven't gone thru took everything. Wonder what happens to things people leave behind in these homes. Not any graffiti or stripped wood. Sad this sweet home gone to such waste. Great job Kappy enjoyed watching
@debkrummreich3883. This house has been remodelled and ransacked. I highly doubt that antique robbers would bother with this house. They might be able to salvage a few things but it looks like anything of any value. There are thousands of other safer, less destroyed abandoned houses to pilfer through.
How cool! What time period do you think it’s from? I just took a guess and said it was late 1800’s- early 1900’s! Almost seemed Victorian! Thanks for watching!
Was a good few years ago! It’s incredible too think how long we have all been exploring and checking out old houses together!! Couldn’t do it without y’all’s help! Thank you very much for watching and sticking around!! :)
It Saden's Me To See Such A Beautiful Built Home Fr: That Era To Be Left Abandoned And See The 1970's ish Panel Board On The Wall's & Numerous Other Things & Likely a Few Vegranets & Crack Heads Likely Living There , Was What Looks Like a Beuitful Home @ One Point In It's Life Time !!!!!! Good Video
Thanks for the tour!! It's a shame these houses are abandoned and with what made it a home. One question. Have you ever gone through a house that you thought was haunted??
Those Craftman homes always had so much character and were economically priced. I wish you could still order them. I bet that house would have still been n good shape if the roof had been maintained. Wonder how long it’s been empty?
Why would anyone walk away from a house of this quality? If it's not a sin. it should be. Having never owned a house in my life, I would take something like this despite the condition it's in.
Looks like it would have been a lovely house when it was built. Not much left now unfortunately. It might have had a fighting chance if it had had a metal roof put on. Roads have a tendancy to destroy old houses.
Would it be possible to save the picture of the woman. Even though the person who last lived there did not have any close family if nieghbors now who it is they might have other relatives who would like to know what their ancestors looked like.
Agreed so much beautiful details left that could still be saved or salvaged at the least! If only the whole place could be saved! Thank you for watching! :)
This was a very nice home in it's prime. Looks like it was built more around 1905-1910. It is kind of creepy and sad the bed is still upstairs intact and the one dresser. Both still there waiting to be used again.
As a lover of old things, this breaks my heart. The history.
I was just thinking of what a shame it is that it will be bull-dozed. I love old wood furniture. I have a bedroom set from one grandmother. She gave it to us as a wedding gift.
Good one Kappy,you never disappoint!
I appreciate that very much! Thank you for watching! :)
The built in ironing board
was used to iron pants
and jackets in the early
1900s and much earlier.
So cool! What a neat old feature in old homes! The first place I grew up in, a 1920s row house in Baltimore city had one! Thanks for watching!
Maybe something "unworldly " is keeping these things from happening !
@debkrummreich3883. This house has been remodelled and ransacked. I highly doubt that antique robbers would bother with this house. They might be able to salvage a few things but it looks like anything of any value. There are thousands of other safer, less destroyed abandoned houses to pilfer through.
Nice brickwork
We had that television set in the 1960's!!
Great filming as usual I bet that house could tell some stories another bites the dust .
Very true! Thank you for watching!! :)
It's horrible that someone wouldn't buy. There's nothing like remodeling a great place but nowadays everyone wants new and that sucks.
If I'm not mistaken, that's an old charcoal picture. Truly an antique!
How cool! What time period do you think it’s from? I just took a guess and said it was late 1800’s- early 1900’s! Almost seemed Victorian! Thanks for watching!
@@urbanexploringwithkappy1773 THIS IS MARILYN AND I THINK YOUR RIGHT ABOUT THE YEAR IT WAS AROUND THE LATE 1800
It really has some bungalow features.
Agreed! Very craftsman- bungalow feeling! Turn of the century! Thanks for watching! :)
Nice place. I don't remember it. I wonder how long I have followed you Kappy. Thank You!
I HAVE NEVER BEEN IN A HAUNTED HOUSE AND I HOPE I NEVER WILL
I love this house!
Those Craftman homes always had so much character and were economically priced. I wish you could still order them. I bet that house would have still been n good shape if the roof had been maintained. Wonder how long it’s been empty?
so cool to see the comparison
Hi kappy what happens to the useable furniture before it's demolished so sad some good furniture inside. Best wishes beverley stone U.K.
7:27 More than likely this bed was used downstairs.
By an elderly person before they died.
Old school French doors. Always liked them
Why would anyone walk away from a house of this quality? If it's not a sin. it should be. Having never owned a house in my life, I would take something like this despite the condition it's in.
Looks like it would have been a lovely house when it was built. Not much left now unfortunately. It might have had a fighting chance if it had had a metal roof put on. Roads have a tendancy to destroy old houses.
Sup from Kentucky😊
Beautiful old home. Such a shame to see it destroyed.
The Sears catalog is a 1900 miniature reproduction. I had or have one here somewhere.
How neat! I’ll have to visit my library and see if I can look through one! Thanks for watching!! :)
@@urbanexploringwithkappy1773 yes check it out. Really fun to look through. You're welcome. Thanks for sharing!
Love this video, too bad the house is being demolished.
Would it be possible to save the picture of the woman. Even though the person who last lived there did not have any close family if nieghbors now who it is they might have other relatives who would like to know what their ancestors looked like.
What a darn shame. Hope someone can save the doors, mantels & beds etc. Eminent domain seems to be rearing its ugly head again. 😔
Agreed so much beautiful details left that could still be saved or salvaged at the least! If only the whole place could be saved! Thank you for watching! :)
Makes me want to be a good squatter because I can't barely afford to be paying rent. I would make the place look good.
The same old TV I said I would like to restore last time. The people who lived there even their memory will be erased forever when the house is gone.
That is the ironing board 😁
Such a cool feature on old homes! Love it! Thanks for watching! :)
It does not seem to note where this property is located. As someone living in the southern United States I would like to know.
Wow 😲 beautiful place I bet it was awesome 😎 before it got tossed
Agreed! Was surprised not much had changed since I last filmed it in 2020! Thanks for watching! :)
9:36 This escalator looks kind of soft. 😳
This was a very nice home in it's prime. Looks like it was built more around 1905-1910. It is kind of creepy and sad the bed is still upstairs intact and the one dresser. Both still there waiting to be used again.
This is exactly what happens to most small cities.
Which in turn destroys the population, becoming villages.
I actually recognize the duck wallpaper design.
Sad that all these old homes, some huge, r left to rot with so many folks homeless.
