  • This beautiful old federal house was built in the early 1800’s for one of the more prominent agrarian families in the county. Most likely the house was built between 1820-1830 but couldn’t find a ton of information. The family grew cotton and a variety of other crops. After the civil war the farm was a sharecropping farm for many decades until the early 1930’s. A few of the small old sharecroppers houses still dot the landscape and remain crumbling away nearby. From everything I could find out the house had been vacant since the late 1980’ to 1990’s. In recent years the mantles and some of the ornate woodwork along the porch has been taken. I filmed this house about 5 years ago if you’d like to see the old video I will put link below. Thanks for watching! Like and leave a comment if you enjoyed! Thank you!

This poor old girl. She was basically a conventional farm house back in the day. Looks like people came in long enough to toss stuff to the floor looking for something of value. So sad. Another great video Mr Kappy!!! Thanks for taking me along!

That Wing & Son player piano was a manual pump player piano: didn't need electricity to play! With a pair of human feet, no Carrington event could silence the music that played off her rolls! What a beauty! The basic two rooms over two rooms with an ell addition. She were a comfortable abode in her time. I agree, that woodwork was nice. She were quite a few steps above plain when they built her, and after two hundred years, she still stands a proud, sturdy structure. TY for the tour, Kappy. The symphony of frogs was a nice touch!

This was another great find Kappy !! I do enjoy watching your vedios and listening to the history of these great finds.... I think this house was really beautiful back in the day. I can imagine sitting on the front porch and listening to all the sound ds of nature while drinking a cold glass of tea or a hot cup of coffee as the sun sets or rises...
What beautiful furniture that.was left . And the staircase was perfect !!
The wood woodwork and the fireplace mantels were beautiful too !!
To bad the house itself couldn't talk and tell its stories...
Thanks for sharing this house again with us Kappy !!
See you on the your next exploration.
Take care and stay safe out there !!!

That is a Player Piano. The furniture is from 1880 to 1890. The house isn't really not that bad. With the right renovation you make it a very nice and comfortable home to live in.

It’s a shame it’s being neglected. If I had to guess I’d date it to abt 1825. The furniture you commented upon at 6:26 looks like a lot of mass produced waterfall veneer that was often sold in mail order catalogs in the 1920s/30s. My favorite part of this is the elegant staircase. This was a fun explore and I enjoyed the insert photos of your prior visit. Thank you for taking us along!

I think that piano had rules she put in it and it was a player piano. It has foot pedals that you pumped and that’s how it played. Those usually were very good pianos.
My family had one in our house when I was young and it was a source of great entertainment. That was back when there was hardly any TV. We had a little round TV and hardly ever watched it.

Hey Kappy, maybe I'm just seeing things, but it looks like you've got an alien face starring up at you from the floor, just below the window, @ 5:46!
The two old furniture pieces at 6:36 both have melon bulb legs. Tudor or Elizabethan revivals probably 1890's to 1930's. I'd speculate the earlier end of the range. Three old Pepsi bottles, "No Coke, Pepsi".

That wizard sewing machine is being sold online from anywhere of 100 to 200 bucks. they were made for only a couple years by western auto. From what i read they are excellent machines and run very quiet. solid metal too.
Its a shame that people do not see the value in the items left behind. i love antiques and would love the old vanity upstairs in that house. Only thing is is i do not see the mirror. Not sure if it was on the floor behind it. I miss going to abandoned properties and nosing around like you do. I probably would have brought the pepsi bottles home with me. I love pepsi stuff and its harder to find than coke stuff.

Good evening, Kappy! Things are going better for me and I'm learning how to live by myself again. Thanks for all the good thoughts and kind words.
This is a pretty house, though many of its details have been removed, its beauty lingers. It's sad to think of the people quite likely enslaved in and by the people who lived here. Sadly, sharecropping was little more than legalized slavery. Thank the good LORD that that system no longer exists in our country.
That IS beautiful millwork on the trim of this place. It's sad to think of someone coming in to harvest the lovely details of this lovely old lady. I can only hope that the person who ravaged her was her owner and not a stranger.
I think you're spot on with your dates for that furniture, Kappy! You've come a long way, my friend, and become more knowledgeable than you know! I'm very proud of you!
Spring peepers! Those tiny little frogs are little larger than your thumbnail, but in numbers, they can be heard for miles!
Spring is coming to East Tennessee, though we will have our Easter cold snap tonight, on the very eve of Resurrection Day itself!
I've never heard of a Wizard sewing machine. Oh, the mantles are so lovely!
Those spindles on the stair rails are so delicate! They give you a glimpse into the thoughts of the original owners.
Well, you saved the worst for last on this one. Sheesh, somebody was looking for valuables and were not in the least careful. I'm trying to imagine this gentle belle of a house as she once was. She's survived the ravages of war and the incessant march of time. It's sad that she's been forgotten and will probably return to the rich Carolina earth from which she rose. How sad!
She reminds me of the Family Home in the Walton's, somehow. I only hope her memories are joyful and sweet.
Thanks for a great explore, my friend! It was a pleasure, as always. Much love from chilly Tennessee, B

      B.,
I very much enjoyed reading your prose.
You should consider writing/typing a memoir of your life experiences.👍
I, too, have been on my own since my 59-yr.-old fiancé, of 16 yrs. (both of us too afraid to marry) passed from Covid, in 2021.
I agree with you about the delightful details Kappy captured, however my greatest pleasure is when he gets close-ups of fine doorknobs, and other metalwork.
The happy birds, and frogs, and rain are supremely gratifying.

Thank you so much for your kind words! Kappy and I go back a long ways...he said once that he thinks I should go with him on explores. I am a historical nut when it comes to houses, especially those from this antebellum period.
I am, as a matter of fact, a retired technical writer for a federal contractor, spending my career writing technical manuals for various branches.
I'm sorry to hear about your fiance'. I lost my husband to dementia a little over four weeks ago. Kappy has been on of my biggest supporters in that unwinnable fight, God love him! I have cheered him and taken joy in watching him mature and learn. He's come a long way in a short time and is truly a budding authority.
I am glad to hear from you and welcome further messages, if you wish. I love to hear from other Kappy fans!
By the way, as I've lost track of the passage of days, I believed a sign saying this was Easter. Learned, on this bright and glorious spring morning, that it's NEXT WEEK! 🤭🥴

That player piano is worth 1000s depending on the condition and if it can be restored. Looks like someone took the kitchen sink, too.
    Thank you for your explorations!

Such a great place,! I thought I saw this the first time you went here so I did a double check and indeed I did see it. Kinda gives you an idea as to how long I've been following your channel. It's a great old place and just as good the second time around. I don't know how you find these great old places but I just love that you do. Another great adventure Kappy. Thanks for the adventures and as always I look forward to the next. 🤠👍🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻

mid 1920s department store furniture , looked ok in its day but not well made , cheap walnut veneer and stained Base wood . Many families at this time bought this type of furniture , and gave the sharecroppers the old fashioned , now antique and valuable

Thanks for showing this house. Great find. The furniture in the dining room is really cool. If you take off the veneers it might still be salvageable. Ugly paneling on the walls. Hard to imagine there was a time when real wood planks covered walls of homes.

I like this house a whole lot. Although that bathroom situation presents a problem. I dont know ow about the furniture left behind but Iiked that too. Must have been a really nice place to live. Thanks, Kappy

Very nice, Kappy-love Federal style houses. The house and big trees out front sort of reminded me of Rosedown Plantation in Louisiana. Thanks, and see you next week!

Love your videos. I just hate seeing these great old places packed with junk, whoever moved out last could have at least gone through stuff and donated or thrown it out. Hate graffiti too.

4:37 That other picture looks like mantle was a piece of tree round. Maybe even a half and why they took it unfortunately.
