The rooms on this home are HUGE!!! I would think a rather large family once occupied this house. I love the porch as always. Those log timbers though! Would love to see what the original home looked like. Thanks Kappy! You brought us another beautiful find! Wishing you an amazing weekend ❤
It was probably the front part of the house, 2 rooms over 2 rooms and had to be a winter kitchen in there in 1 of the 1st floor rooms. Then a summer kitchen behind the house.
What a rambling old girl! Hide and seek must've been fun. And what a great place in its glory days. I hadn't ever seen a stovepipe door on a fireplace before. But l suppose when they took the stove out in summer for more room, it kept critters out, and was also decorative. I know stoves are more efficient, but hate the look of them vs just a fireplace. Great find, and thanks, Kappy! Hi, Ruby!
If onlyvthe walls could talk. I like this house, it's really nice and spacious. Back porch won't last much longer. Do like the floral wallpaper. Great explore Kappy and thanks for taking us with you.❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
What a great house... seeing the hidden logs was a wonderful surprise. My heart swooned when you showed that soft powder pink floral stripe wallpaper, ahhhh yes!
Wow nice home and its still standing with hardly any rotting away. When u opened the front door and the back door was right across there, I pictured kids running in the front and out the back playing tag or something. Ty Kappy 4 another great job 2 find us more great houses 2 c!! Stay safe out there!
Fascinating old place!!! The gas stove is actually called a Warm Mornin. I think we had one at some point when I was growing up and we were able to get gas instead of burning wood and coal.
I fell in love with this one Kappy an the beauty of remembering what it must have looked like with children running out those screen doors. Thanks for sharing another warm an beautiful home ❤
@@urbanexploringwithkappy1773 thank you so much for all these cool videos. Houses as large as this absolutely should be restored and used to house people in need. Thanks for showing us around kappy have a blessed Christmas. 12:48
Urban Exploring With kappy thanks for sharing with me my friend about Beautiful 200 year old Abandoned Travelers Rest in the Mountains of Tennessee it was a really nice explore and God Bless.
Those big bedrooms upstairs are awesome! Long windows, a fireplace in every room, and private access to the beautiful "sleeping porch". 😴 I can imagine ppl dragging their mattresses out to the porch to catch the cooler mountain breezes at night in the summer. ❤ Love the 1970's yellow bathroom! 💛 Oh, and that bug was a stink bug. Best left alone, those ones. 🙂 Tfs, Kappy!! Beautiful home.
Good evening, Kappy and all present! Hey, great description of this house, my friend. This one has a long and varied history, for sure! I can hardly wait to get started! The beautiful, imposing exterior of this house is quite intriguing. It was really something special in its day! That old stone wall is lovely, a reminder to weary travelers that rest and a hot meal are close at hand. If only those walls and the house itself could tell us of the history they have seen! These rooms certainly are expansive! They clearly had a lot of company! That bathroom is humongous, too! Wow, all the rooms are very spacious and open! Even the kitchen is big enough to bring a wagon into! Oh, I hate to see books abandoned like that. Maybe that's why I own hundreds of them! That looks like a modern concrete nail, Kappy. Good eye, though! All in all, this is an amazing old place and I'm sure, with its history, there are many stories hidden behind its walls. Who knows who stopped here for the night? A really interesting video and exploration, Kappy! Thanks for taking us along on your adventure! You could feel the history of the house wrapping around you! You've really been findung some interesting houses lately and I truly appreciate your efforts to locate and film these old gems from times past before they're lost forever. Good work, my friend! Thanks again, may many happy trails be yours. Love from Tennessee, Becca
I'm loving the front screen door! And the warm morning stoves. I sit many a morning eating my oatmeal with my back to the heat, watching cartoons. So many memories were made in this house. And now it will be taken back by mother nature, taking those memories with it. Another great video Mr Kappy! Thanks for taking me along! 😊
I bet it was absolutely stunning when lived in its huge I can just imagine a house full of children another great find I love your videos kappy keep up the good work.
Great to see used as dairy farm, not developers moving in ( I Hope Not ).. House looks like perhaps chance to restore? House 'looked' bigger than shown in video. Kappy finds the beauties.
Too many wonderful things about this place to list them all, but the wainscotting and windows are really nice. This place sure got well-loved and that energy remains, it's a happy place even in its decline. Beautiful landscape/location as well. Saved a screenshot of the upper porch to do a sketch of, got lots of screenshots. Lovely place, thanks for showing her! 🎄🥰🌟
Great observations! Agreed so many lovely details in this place! Would love to see the sketch! I’ve tried drawing a few of my favorites but never turn out great! Thanks for watching! :)
Thanks for the warm reply, Kappy! I get to retire next year and will have more time for artistic pursuits and will figure out a way to send you a sketch once I get it together. @@urbanexploringwithkappy1773
Looks like the final remodel occurred in the early 1970's... Amazingly clean all things considered... Surprisingly no bannister on the stairs! Great to see the original dwelling when you found the logs... Wondering who lived there and why it was abandoned??? As always, thank you for sharing, Kappy!
My guess was the bannister was taken, along with the more ornate mantles! Which is why the one in first room was missing! Just a guess tho! Thank you very much for watching!! :)
That square nail is an original or from an upgrade in the 1800s. We had them in our 1880 house. This is a nice house, big rooms and I'm shocked that the wallpaper is still in pretty good shape. You'd think more of it would be peeled off by now. They must have used gorilla glue to attach it! 😅 The whole house is in relatively good shape and clean for how long it's been sitting empty, no graffiti even. Nice
This place would have been beautiful back in the days. Large rooms, lots of fireplaces for heat, and wood trims on the front door with the windows surround. Loved some of the wall paper, but that yellow bath room made me grit my teeth, that was bright. lol Have a great day and safe travels. Happy Holidays to you and yours
oh wowww kapppy i seriously loved this big rooms old furniture and old books this would of beeen a great B&B u did it again my friend keeep on keeepin on my gratefully deadicated bud
What an old beauty! Loved that big ol chandelier on the bed upstairs. I really appreciate that it hasn’t been hit with graffiti, I can see thru it when it is there, but it’s nice not to see it sprawled everywhere! Wow!! Those log timbers are amazing!!! The view from the upstairs porch is great too! Great find! Thanks for sharing!!!
Thank you for another great explore. You can almost hear the children's laughter on those porches when you try to picture how it was over 200 years ago. shame that such history will collapse back to the earth.
I loved the two old chairs and couch in the upstairs rooms. And the warm morning stove! I had one in the first house I bought in NM - very old but still worked great. Thank you for this lovely house Kappy!
Tennessee holy crap thats out there let me tell you I did not know Cappy you travel that far these places are far..and I like that style house nice old stairway and those old push button switches are crazy old very nice..and those old wooden door knobs are beautiful..
This was a beautiful log home at one time. The rooms are huge and the front and back porches were so nice.I love watching you and Rubys videos. Please keep them coming. You are one the best at telling us the history of these beautys.Thank you for caring.
That’s too kind of you!! I’m really happy you enjoy!! Makes it all the more worthwhile knowing how much others like seeing these places too! Thank you very much!! :)
Great place! Huge rooms, i wonder how big the family that built this place was. Nice to see the original logs from the log cabin even if they are full of dry rot. Really enjoyed this one. Thanks, Kappy
Yeah it was sad how rotten the logs were! Maybe one of the reasons this place ended up vacant, lots of maintenance and repairs needed! Thank you so much for watching!! :)
Hmmm. In the second story on the back bedroom, there was a portion that jutted out at the end of the balcony. It had a small window. But when you were in that room, I didn’t see that. I only saw it from the outside.
This one sits nicely upon the landscape, inviting and comfortable looking, inspite of the mess of abandonment. Many memories made here. I'll bet Christmas time there was warm and cozy in it's day. It's Really a pity few can afford to keep/rejuvenate such beauties of so much American historical significance. TY for the tour, Kappy. Your vids are always first rate!
This was a nice one ,love bigger houses that is unique and twist and turns, great job ,I usually would have watched earlier but I had something I had to do
That’s a Warm Morning stove. Those are still highly sought after, surprised no one has appropriated that one. That old house was nearly impossible to heat, I’m sure.
The beauty of that old wallpaper Kappy, and the colors of the past. Today, people are into depressing colors like gun metal grays. No wonder depression runs rampant in people now.
Square nails are made by black Smiths. It simply means the house is very old. Plus the gold color fridge is a 1960s color for appliances. A lot of people over the years probably lived and died there 😢

I love this one. Not so much wreckage, vandalism, and graffiti.
Clutter was minimal
Well said!! Just pure natural decay! Always hate too see graffiti and vandalism! Thanks for watching!! :)

Quite a big stinkbug! Those cast iron tubs were nice
I hate stink bugs lol
You seem to be on a log home role. Loved the porch covered with vines. Definitely a once fine home.
That looked like a good old wheel bug alive and well, hanging out on the door. :)
You’ve shared so many wonderful old homes, but for some reason this one is one of my favorites…don’t know why, but it is.
Me too. It gives off good vibes.
No graffiti. I think graffiti damages the soul of an older home Jmo
Thanks , what a place🤝

It might be salvageable to renovate. My concern would be termites infesting logs of the house. The furniture left behind looks from the 1980's.

Kappy, do you know why people close off fire places and put a pipe in them?
To switch to using a stove, either coal or wood. A stove is much more efficient than a fireplace, you lose much less heat up the chimney. Also it puts your heat source out into the room, rather than at one side, so it heats the whole room better.

There's nothing wrong with this house. It just needs a few minor repairs that even I can do at my advanced age.
Couldn’t agree more! Place could definitely still be saved! Thanks for watching! :)
I wonder if it always had the clapboard over the logs.
I was curious as well! Maybe when it was first built was left exposed and over time put the wooden siding over! Thanks for watching!
This looks like the house used the the TV show The Waltons.
how in the world do you find all of these places??
