    Thank you for this video, I had a hysterectomy 6 years ago, and found out about having a rectocele and a cystocele a week ago. All any doctor wanted me to do over the last six years is a colonoscopy! No one examined me, and I have been through hell. I am getting a pessary fitted to avoid surgery, and hoping with that and managing the rectocele I will improve. Why as women we are not told about these things is beyond me. I am a very private person and this has been an awful experience. Thank you for sharing. 😊

    Finally something that makes sense with a condition that has a name for the symptoms I've had since I had my daughter 28 years ago. Often having chronic constipation issues from age 16 and onwards I have also had to learn to have a better diet due to a type of eating disorder. I've seen a few Gastroenterologists over the years who gave me different diagnosis,one being internal haemorrhoids, after having too many colonoscopy procedures done. I am now in my early 50's and still having these same issues after having 3 children, through vaginal births(all adult age now) I have never had any relief and went on suffering. I will have to discuss this with my new Gynaecologist next week when I see her. I had surgery done about 4 1/2 weeks ago as they thought I had something like cancerous cells in my reproductive areas,two biopsies done were benign findings. I have been using a squatty potty for a few years as I found one online and thought it couldn't hurt to try. I do massages of my stomach during a bowel movement and kegel exercises too but it doesn't always help. I have been on a wheat elimination diet for 7 years due to having a protein allergy and been under Specialists care for several years. When I did try to force a BM out I would have a twisting of the rectal muscles that left me in agony for hours after and ended up having to medicate for the pain,I did suffer in silence for many years.

    Thank you! I thought I was the only one who has to push on my perineum (the small area outside the body between the vagina and anus openings), or push inside the vaginal wall in order to get the poop out of a corner that it’s stuck in (like it’s herniated into the vagina because it was weakened or perhaps from pushing too hard when trying to get the poop to exit) idk if that’s correct, I’m just learning. What’s so awful is that sometimes I must put my finger all the way inside my rectom to find the hard pebbles of poo and pull them out. I don’t have a good BM until they are gone! I’m afraid if left there hiding in a corner or my rectom it could cause what? Cancer? I don’t know yet, just learning. Thankfully and unfortunately this video is the best explanation I’ve found on RUclips! I’m not finding med professionals on RUclips explaining it. I’m finding talks about only rectal prolapse outside the anus. I have a little bit of hemorrhoid tissue outside the anus which doesn’t get too swollen and can kinda be pushed back in after having a BM. This is awful! And I had to explain this (in less detail) to my husband. 😳
    I’ve told my GI doctor about it and he said to see the colorectal surgeon. if it bothers me too much. I mean I hate doing those procedures to have a BM, but I’m more worried about becoming old and needing the surgery which is always more dangerous than doing it at a young 48 years old lol. I’m glad to find another woman going through this but am sorry for your anguish too!
    Do you know if it can cause disease or cancer or severe problems when elderly. I hate to get surgery but even more so when I become elderly. Thanks again!

      I’ve had almost exact problem for 20 years after getting celiac disease and constipation. if the poop is the exact right texture, sometimes I can push it out by using a squatty potty. If it is the least bit hard, I have to use lubricant and a rubber glove and dig it out with my finger which is very difficult. Sometimes I can use a rubber syringe and water to wash out any remaining stool.

    Awesome. I believe prlvic floor exercise and core care is something we must be taught and encouraged to do, like brushing our teeth, proper self care, etc. I had no idea this was so important or what to do plus it's not something that was talked about properly or with care and respect while I was growing up. Women's healthcare in North America has been taking steps backwards these past few decades.

    Unfortunately I'm on a plethora of pain meds and constipation is one of the side effects of everyone! I mentioned to my Dr months ago that I had to push on my perineum to empty my bowels and she said that's perfectly normal. Over the past few months I've noticed that I have to put my finger or thumb in my vagina to have a poo. Unfortunately my poo is like different sized stones/rocks! I Googled it and sure enough it's a rectocele! I am getting a squatty potty and something that can get further in my vagina rather than me having to use my finger I'll definitely try a tampon first. Thanks so much for this video, the info is invaluable to me xxx

    Kim Vopni - The Vagina Coach: Hi Kim, thanks for this very helpful video - it's great to know I'm not alone. What do you think about coffee enemas or warm water enemas every week/two weeks or so? I'm fed up with this pressurised, swollen feeling! My diet is excellent, high in fibre/juicy veg and low in starchy foods. I find psyllium husk in water helpful to create bulk but they're a bit gassy. The weird thing is although I'm in my mid-60s I feel I've always had a slight rectocele, even as a child - hard to have a good BM, protruding tummy and often trapped wind and pains - a doc told me when I was a kid never to eat white bread, pastries or too many potatoes. After your video I'm making a huge effort to get back to the Kegels. I also wonder here if anyone else has had good results with irrigation/home enemas (following all safety precautions of course!!!). Thanks again!!!

    • @vaginacoach
      @vaginacoach  5 лет назад +1

      I don't know of anyone who uses enemas so can't comment fully. There are benefits beyond prolapse :-) . You can try this fibre supplement www.yeswellness.com/natural-factors-organic-reliefibre-low-fodmap-tropical-flavour-200g.html?gclid=CjwKCAjw8e7mBRBsEiwAPVxxiBVOSlUPTDevVsOi9-dNrtro9n4opdG357rFvp_efXeWOK-bDM5aPRoCfukQAvD_BwE to help with gas. Helpful video in a few areas I needed to hear.Thank you! After many tests, I was recently diagnosed with rectocele, cystocele, AND pelvic floor dysfunction/animus. Yippee, lucky me! :-/ So here I am, struggling to figure out how to balance these three nasties.Tempted to start hanging upside down! Instead, getting physical therapy and biofeedback with very slow progress. I'd like to get a biofeedback machine for home, to help me re-learn how to relax down there, but I don't know where to get one. All the electronic devices are for the vagina, not the rectum. And should I even be tightening the vagina, when my rectum won't relax? Any advice on that would be appreciated. I know it's complex. Your video is on rectocele mainly.

      glad you found it helpful. The diagnosis can sting and bit quite overwhelming. Glad you are working with a pelvic floor physical therapist. That will remain essential - at least once a year. In terms of down regulating and releasing tension... I highly recommend my release program... it has a lot of exercises plus the hypopressive technique which could also help your cystocele. www.vaginacoach.com/kegel-mojo-release. I also offer coaching if you prefer one on one work. Home use biofeedback units may not provide as much help as you think and you could spend a bunch of money trying to find the right one. • @vaginacoach
      @vaginacoach  3 года назад +2

      menstrual cups can offer support for some but prolapse can sometimes interfere with comfort and with fit of the cup. If you do find a cup that works then ensure you always break the seal before removing it so as not to create drag that could potentially exacerbate prolapse symptoms.

    Hi Kim,love the background,just came back from a road trip to Vic,loved it,but hate being back in the cold Alta weather.I have some questions? I’m 57 & have had bowel issues 36 years,after childbirth ( lots of problems with it, have been to proctologist’s, a kink in my lower bowel is the culprit) I was told never to let my bowels get backed up,& to take a laxative to clean out by bowels every week or two. I am having some vagnal issues for a few months now,sex is non existent, & it is so painful if we try,seems like the opening has closed shut( kinda like there are bones closed up) I know it’s not my uterus,as every Dr that has examined me always thinks I’ve had a hysterectomy & I have not. Iam scared and embarrassed,I have always used a stool when having a b.m.,& now when I have gas it comes up through my vagina to relece,& it’s not vagina gas,it’s bowel gas,it’s a strange feeling,( no pain though). Don’t no if it’s a prolapse,and now I’m in a new town and have not got a new Dr yet,menopause haven’t started yet,but my last period was last April,& no sign of it,but it’s coming🧚‍♀️.Thanks Kim for touching base on these topics. I have been dealing with this for a while now. But I wish someone had told me this sooner. I have been told I have a small rectocele but it seems to get worse as time goes by. About a year ago it got to the point that I had to use more stool softeners to be able to have a bm. Then it was I could no longer have a regular bm only if it was super soft. Now only a tiny straw like amount comes out or only liquid. I have tried inserting my fingers but nothing works. I drink a lot of prune juice. On top of that I have had multiple incomplete lesions on my spine from recurrent transverse myelitis. So that complicated things too. Honestly I would give anything to be able to just go once or even twice and be done. And I get autonomic dysreflexia every day from this. It is so frustrating.

    I know you said it feels like you have something in your vagina, but I actually feel like I have something in my rectum all the time, like I need to bare down constantly even if nothing comes out and im wondering if this is what I have. I have ibs so I do strain a lot. It's gotten to the point where it effects me all day, every day. It's extremely uncomfortable. I have all of the same symptoms mentioned except it feels like I have something in my bum not my vagina.

    • @vaginacoach

      yes - it can feel like you have stool stuck in there (which can make you feel like something is in the rectum but the bulge it creates can sometimes be felt in the vagina as well). Best to get an assessment by a pelvic floor physical therapist to find out for sure.

I have an anal fisdure plus prolspses. I had no idea that i was supposed to exercise these ateas and how important it is to fo every day. It ought to be a routine like brushing our teeth. • @vaginacoach

      BB Jonas not necessarily. It is not about the exercise but more about the strategy. That being said...sustained impact on a floor that may not be optimized could exacerbate it. Work with a pelvic floor physio to help manage it.

      I have complete prolapse. Vault, rectocele, cystocele and tight rectal muscles. I’m glad I found your channel. I also have hEDS. Had hysterectomy in 2020 and rectocele repair. Didn’t know I had hEDS at the time. This is getting so bad. I’m doing all the management tools and seeing a PFPT and my diet, I’ve completely changed. I still can’t get stool consistency right. Stool is soft and first BM usually comes out ok like you said. The. I spend the rest of the day feeling like I have to poop even when o don’t. I’ve seen CRS, urogynecologist, gynecologists, urologist, can’t wear a pessary as it was interfering with BM Ben before my vault prolapsed and rectocele got bad again. Psyllium worked for awhile but made stool too big as I also have hemorrhoids and chronic fissures. I also drink tons of water 💧 and stretch and do PFPT exercises every day. It’s frustrating. I feel lost. It’s likely surgery will fail again but I have a really crappy quality of life. No pun intended. 😢

    Do you recommend Traditional Chinese medicine?
    I end up so frustrated that a small piece that won't come out thru vaginal manipulation, I have to pull the poo marbles out rectally. And I've tried to eat so that things are more loose, but I have hemorrhoids and I can never wipe clean, unless I wipe for 5+ mins. I'm so frustrated. There is no easy way to evacuate completely or at least feel that way. Girl, thank you for his video. Glad I'm not alone.

      I love Chines Medicine. They are herbs and acupuncture that can help with stool as well so investigate that with your practitioner. Have you tried splinting vaginally? I would also see a holistic nutritionist to help you improve the consistency of your stool so you can get closer to #4 on the Bristol Stool chart. That will help immensely!

    • @vaginacoach

      spasms and burning could potentially be attributed to a prolapse but it is perhaps more likely for it to be tight, overactive muscles. Glad you are working with a pelvic floor physio!

    Does exercise make this worse? I've been feeling a little "full"when I exercise. I'm about 9 months postpartum and trying to get back to a workout schedule. I am seeing a pelvic floor physiotherapist about my pelvic floor after baby. I'm not jumping yet but slow jogging and some light hopping is causing me to feel this fullness. I see I should be eating more because I drink alot of water but I don't poop like that. But trying to lose weight. I'm actually feeling hopeless at this point! With diet, constipation, losing weight, pelvic floor, now this rectocele..

    • @vaginacoach
      @vaginacoach  4 года назад

      movement and exercise is important for many reasons and avoiding movement can make symptoms worse and can make the prolapse worse too. It is important to ensure you have good lifting and movement strategies so as not to increase intra-abdominal pressure beyond what your pelvic floor can manage. Glad you are seeing a pelvic floor physio. Find what you can do without the symptoms and work on your core re-training. What about when you have a 6cm diameter xtra (pocket, balloon, ECT) area right inside your anus and is catching any stool? Vaginal manipulation is not effective. I have tried standing, slightly bent at the hips and pushing by my rectum and it squirted out every where.. But that is rare and only if days full. I'm in misery and it seems one dr just sends me to another and that takes weeks. I don't have weeks. I shit the bed last week in my sleep all over. When do drs listen?
