Please show me how to join the beginning and the end of the bias tape. Thanks. I certainly enjoy your videos. I have purchased two of your books and they, along with the videos, have really helped me as a beginning sewer!! Thanks a milllion!
I do not like to hand sew but I do it because I agree with you: the finished product looks so much better and neater if hand sewn. Nice tutorial once again.
I love this!! I just got my first sewing machine and I made my first cushion cover and filling today, I'm so proud of it, and so glad I've found your channel. Lots of tips and inspiration, I'm sew....😂 (sorry!) excited to get started on more things. 🥰
Thank you Debbie. I am going to make one - tomorrow I will buy the fabric and wadding. I have loads of bias binding. You make things look so easy to do.
I know how to do mitred corners but I like how you do them better, with your technique I actually might get great mitre corners now, thank you sew much.
Definitely making one! And thank you for showing the mitred corners. I watched someone else on RUclips do them and they made it so complicated and I have never managed a good mitre! You made it simpler, thank you!
I made a mat only version of this, but stuffed up the bias binding - think mine was too small as only had 1.3cm to use but instructions so clear and will note how much a difference bigger binding makes for next time!
Your such a good teacher I’ve now updated my machine and I love making your bags they’re gorgeous my downfall I can’t cut straight even with the ruler 😂😂😂but I’ll master it one day xx
Hi Debbie. I love this may and want to make one for my machine. However, I have to do my sewing at my round dining table. Can this be adapted to suit a round table please?
I may be wrong but I have a feeling, she concentrates more on her Half Yard Sewing Club nowadays. It is a monthly subscription you pay for patterns and I think Tutorials. Like a lot of people I do prefer the RUclips Tutorials, I started watching Debbie on here a long time ago as many of us did and loved the videos - sometimes still look at the real oldies LOL, with lovely Alfie in them awww
I also work for a sewing channel, and have four books on the go at the moment so I'm afraid I've just been so busy! I'll be back soon though, thanks for staying with me!
Thank you very much fore your tutorial, Very useful as usual and very well explained. I have a request, Will it be possible to give us a tutorial on how to make a frame bag for a bicycle, Thank you very much in advance.
Hi Debbie, just seen your mat for sewing machine so I’m trying to make one but having trouble with tension! When I sew on a scrap fabric it’s perfect but as soon as I place my mat with wadding, the bottom tension keeps looping every so often, I don’t understand what is wrong, have changed needles, cleaned machine, re-threaded several times, it’s perfect on several layers of fabrics, What can I do?
If the bottom thread is looping it's a top thread problem, don't adjust the tension dial, try re threading making sure the thread goes through all the channels...
@@debbieshore ok, thank you Debbie I’ve managed to finish the mat and had made the machine cover couple months ago, very pleased with the outcome as a newbie at 66! Thank you for showing how it’s done, clear instructions, looking forward to my next project! Watched your video of this morning, thank you 🤗
Hello Debbie, have you ever done a phone carry case? I walk with two sticks and need, and would love to make a my own case for my phone to go into and hang from my neck, I’m a good sewer but have little experience when it comes to bags do you have any ideas?
You’re quite right. It’s all straight lines so I’m sure you could use strips of a matching fabric, same as for edging a quilt. I suppose bias was used for convenience 🙂
I love Debbie with her enormous scissors!
Lovely mat with easy instructions. I have not seen mitered corners done in quite this way. Lesson learned. Thanks for sharing.
Fab. Mitred corner looks so simple when you demonstrate it like this! Thanks Debbie.

Your such a good teacher I’ve now updated my machine and I love making your bags they’re gorgeous my downfall I can’t cut straight even with the ruler 😂😂😂but I’ll master it one day xx
Don't worry, you're not alone when it comes to not being able to cut a straight line! (I've even been told I'm crossed-eyed!)
Nj Byrd 😂😂😂
Have you tried using a rotary cutter ? You can use your ruler to cut along then 👍🏼
AliLou Creations thanks ill try that 😆
Hi Debbie.

Can this be adapted to suit a round table please?
I haven’t see you for a long time. Welcome back
I was wondering the same thing. I've missed her

Lovely, I’m going to make one
Thank you so much for the clear bias mitre corners, does this work for piping round a cushion as well? Love the floral fabric on the 'wrong' side!
Hi Debbie. Thank you for a wonderful tutorial. Could you tell me how wide is the bias binding please. Many thanks.
Jane Morris It says in the comments that it’s 1” (2,5cm) 🙂
Excellent tutorial, thank you x
I've been crocheting.!
Great to see you again the mat look lovely and the fabric is lovely too, please where can I get the fabric from. Happy sewing everyone.
It's a Henry Glass fabric, I have a feeling it may be out of stock now...
I couldn’t catch the name of the batting in between the fabrics. What was that called?
I love the material. Where can I get some?
I don’t think that’s available any more..,
Lovely , thank you!!

Do you need a walking foot to make this? It’s very pretty.
It would help but you don't need one...
Where did you source the bird fabric for the sewing machine project? Just love your channel
That's a Henry Glass fabric, from www.sewingstreet.com, I'm not sure if it's still available though...
Hello Debbie, have you ever done a phone carry case? I walk with two sticks and need, and would love to make a my own case for my phone to go into and hang from my neck, I’m a good sewer but have little experience when it comes to bags do you have any ideas?
I don't at the moment, but the thinking cap is on...
Hi could you link where you got your ruler please?
I usually buy from Amazon...
Debbie Shore thank you
Hi, what kind of sewing machine do you use? And do you recommend it for a beginner? Thank you 🙏
I have a Janome 6600, it's a bit advanced for a beginner but simple enough to use!
This may be answered by the time I get to the end of the tutorial, but if edges are straight why would you need bias binding?
You don’t need to use bias binding, but as you can buy it ready made, as the one Debbie used, its just convenient to use.
To encase all the raw edges
You’re quite right. It’s all straight lines so I’m sure you could use strips of a matching fabric, same as for edging a quilt. I suppose bias was used for convenience 🙂
Answers below correct, the binding doesn't have to be bias, I just happen to have quite a few rolls of it!
What thickness is the wading please x
aoout 1/4"
Can your book be purchased here in the states(US)?
Yes, Amazon, Michaels, JoAnn, most good book stores
Which sewing machine are you using it?.
It looks like the Janome Memory Craft 6600P which is what I have and recognize it anywhere its amazing!
Thats the one!
♥️♥️♥️
